Bardo flashed a smile, cellphone in one hand, looking for his credentials inside his coat with the other.

-I am a doctor at Masachussets General Hospital, my colleagues are sending some ambulances right now and we will take good care of these men, don't worry- he said with his best official tone, showing his hospital ID. Luckily that would back Astoria's words enough for the bartender to comply.

He then pretended to examine the floor, electrical outlet and the shoes of the three unconscious men, using the power of decay to make then worn and damaged by use. That would be enough to give some physical proof to back the witnesses account of the events in case someone wanted to look into it.

-It seems these poor men had their feet soaking wet due to the outside snowstorm, these shoes are badly worn and the soles are cracked.- he said as to himself, but loud enough for the bartender to hear. -There seems to have been some sort of shortcircuit too, the electrical outlet is a mess.

He felt how the unnatural cold of the Outter Dark slipped inside his magic trying to spin it out of control more than once but he internalized the intrussion as he was taught. The magic did its job, even as the coppery taste of his own blood flooded his mouth. The numbness of his shoulder was disipating quickly, thanks to his magic, but the twist on his entrails would take much longer to leave him.

-There is more of them outside?- he asked, worried at Phoenix news. -I hope we can count on them leaving when the ambulances arrive, and then we can go in them to the hospital without problem. If they don't come in here before, that's it.

He started to register the bodies, at Phoenix request.

"I'm gonna check to see if these guys have any back-up outside," Phoenix stated, walking toward the entrance as he collapsed his new weapon with his palm. Approaching the entrance as far as he could without being seen outside, he performed Mind mudras and peered through the collective unconscious to find any minds hanging around in the cold.

"Alright, looks like there's three other guys across the street. Dunno if they have guns or just batons, though," he explained, then an idea struck him, "Say pops, do these guys have radios on 'em or something? Maybe we can draw those other guys in and take 'em by surprise."

    "That shouldn't be necessary!"

Astoria turned the briefcase in her hands, stepping away from the unconscious man towards the bar. She dropped her wand down her sleeve of her dress, keeping her arm at an angle where it wouldn't fall out or escape downward. Her words came through a smile, as calm as if the fight was an everyday occurrence. "I don't intend to press charges. Forcing a police car to drive through this kind of weather is just poor form and certainly torture. We would be ruining someone's day, and these men...well, let's just say it's a matter we'd rather handle internally."

"My friend is calling an ambulance right now." She gestured to Bardo, hoping he had the sense to have his phone on him. Astoria continued up to the bar, taking out a pen and writing a number on it. "If you determine any damage caused to your restaurant, call this number. I'll see to it that something is done.."

It was 2: 03 a.m., and it was quiet on Commonwealth Avenue. Yet Phoenix could sense the minds of three others, standing around the corner across the street, in the freezing cold. Andrei was behind the bar, in the midst of picking up the phone. Given his unease prior to their arrival, Meristoktrix had been surprisingly calm throughout the entire exchange. He had sat at the table drinking his tea, until the tanned skinned guy had launched himself onto his table. Even then, he had simply slipped under the table, where he had sat crossed legged, waiting for it all to be over.

Even as you watched, the writhing painting seemed to solidify, and you felt a sense of relief as constant twisting in your gut disappeared as the figure in the painting returned to its default pose of revelry.

The brutal blow delivered by Phoenix had all the chances of driving the thug unconscious, but somehow (maybe due to an unbreakable will) he kept up and trying to escape with the briefcase him and Astoria were fighting over.

Just a little push- Though Bardo, calling Stygia once more down to earth. He pictured the brain of the indian man while the Mana infusing his own pattern disipated to act as a channel. The man was quite tough, refusing to let go even as the power of the lead coin weighted down his spirit.

Finally, the presure reached a critical point and the man collapsed on the very entrance of the bar. They had managed to repel the attack.

They now had to decide what to do with three unconscious bodies lying around.

"Sure thing, pops," Phoenix replied as he pressed the man down with his weight and glued the man's arms with an iron vice. Once the man's resistance drooped as the anesthetic coursed through his veins, Phoenix whipped his head right behind him to see the tug-of-war between Astoria and the lead man over the briefcase.

Slipping the baton from the other man's fingers, he charged straight for the lead man and whacked him square in the face.

"Stop!" Astoria shouted at the man as he grabbed the briefcase, almost going for the gun in her bag. She quickly thought better of the idea; even though the police were not quick in this weather, it still didn't seem like a good idea to do more damage than necessary to the establishment.

Scrambling after, Astoria caught up to the man, swiping at the briefcase that he had grabbed with an outstretched hand...

The bald guy passed out practically as the drug was being administered. It seemed to be more of an acceptance of the inevitable unconsciousness than it was the actual effects of the drug. Like his younger friend on the floor, the electricity had done a number on him. As his eyes closed, he looked over at his partner on the table. A look was shared between them.

Seeing two of his comrades go down, several expressions seem to converge on the lead man's face. Phoenix would be able to see a complex interweaving of colors in the man's aura. Concern, desperation, guilt, and resignation. For the first time, the man glanced at the painting, and as the figure gave him a horrifying glare, a combination of fear and hatred flared in his aura. Even as Phoenix watched, all of these emotions seemed to coalesce into a grim determination. He grabbed the briefcase from the table and launched himself toward the exit in a full out run, jumping over his partner on the ground and avoiding the grasping arms of Andrei.

Andrei shakes his head. "Dammit! I'll call the cops."

Doing his best to get out of the way of the young Obrimos, Bardo looked frantically inside his doctor's bag. He took on of the syringes and with a speed born from routine he prepared a shot of a potent aenesthetic.

-Keep him still, son!- he shouted to Phoenix that was restraining the man that had previously attacked Bardo, against the table.

As carefully as the situation allowed him, the doctor injected the drugs into the thug's system. The increased heart rate generated by the strugle against Phoenix working against him, as the blood quickly sent the aenesthetic all through his body. He wont be resisting for much longer.

Phoenix leapt straight out of his seat and pounced the other guy, pinning him to the table. The flow was a little chunky, but then again it would be since he had to move around Bardo first to get at him. Besides, he got him anyways, so who's complaining? With the man restrained, he eyed the clenched baton. He doesn't need that, but it sure would be useful for me...

Astoria steps back as the swing passes above her, eyes going calm and serene for the moment. Her lips begin to breath the eldrich language of magic, one hand waving the wand in an underhanded motion as the other reached for the briefcase. She could see time stretch out for her, the shape of the men around her moving erratically as her target remained stationary on the table.

As she lunged just as the others did, however, she felt her own fingers reach and miss in the same way that the others had.

As Bardo reaches out through the Abyss to his Watchtower, the figure in the painting looks almost...eager. Yet the spell flows smoothly into this reality, and this eagerness becomes an expression of disappointment.

The bodies of the three men convulsed with painful spasms, grunts and cries of pain escaping their throats. Andrei took a quick, instinctive step back, clearly confused and looking around for any water or something that might explain this localized electrical burst.

The Head Man, the Indian fellow who had gone for the briefcase, threw himself onto the table, protecting himself by lying on the non-conductive wood. Still reeling from pain, he made a clumsy swing at Astoria's head, which whizzed through the air. Part of it was simply intended to get her away from the case, but the part of him that was still hurting was eager to return the favor. One of his companions, in desperation, mimicked this action, and was able to step up onto a nearby table. Face contorted with pain and anger, this 2nd Man sent his metal baton down across Bardo's shoulder. The dense air surrounding the Arcane Doctor absorbed much of the blow, but enough got through to be painful. The 3rd Man simply fell right there on the floor, electricity continuing to cause his body to jerk and contort.

Bardo tried his best to remain calm. He was mostly an strange to this kind of violence but he didn't want any of his cabal mates to get hurt, nor the briefcase that was so important to Astoria to get stollen right under his nose. He had some time to look at the bar while those very rude men tried in vain to intimidate Astoria and Phoenix, clearly they didn't know who they were messing with, he had a plan.

Focusing all his will and intent on the nearest wall socket and the feet of the three thugs, he called the laws of Stygia down to this fallen world. In his mind eye, he saw how the floor from the wall transmuted from base materials to the finnest silver, gold and copper as if veins from a circulatory system. The electricity coursed trough them and into the bodies of their assailtants, shocking them, the smell of ozone and burnt flesh and hair polluting the air of the room.

After all these years, Andrei could practically smell trouble, and he always knew who was causing it. He whispered a few words to the couple at the bar, who turned to look at your table before they hurried out the front. Grabbing her by the arm, he practically threw Hannah towards the back. Andrei was a big guy, and he held himself with the confidence of a man who had thrown groups of rowdy assholes out of his bar single handedly. When he came over to the table, he towered over everyone, and would even if you were all standing. He fixed the tan skinned man with a glare that looked like it could cause physical pain all its own. "Get out of my bar."

The dark haired man's response was a sharp whistle. The other two men by the entrance immediately got to their feet and were standing behind him in a flash. "I wish I could. But not until I get what I came for." Instantly he was on his feet, chair tossed behind him. A flick of his wrist opened his weapon with a loud crack! He made his move for the briefcase, reaching out with his free hand.

Phoenix chuckled at the Sleeper's outright demand. Who does this guy think he is? He let out a warm sigh after he gulped down the rest of his tea, practically slamming the cup down.

"Besides," he added, "Batons aren't gonna protect you from what we're into." His eyes directed a sharp gleam at the man to flourish his words.
