I enacted insanity and spent over a hundred dollars to rent a car, drive four hours down to the nearest place, and drive back late in the night.

Worth every bit of it. Twice.(Seriously I might do this again if they put on a second showing)

I preordered tickets two months ago. I signed up to get a day off of work. Then there's an emergency, I get called in, and so I missed out. Fortunately the manager of the Alamo Drafthouse is cool. I talked to him and he let me trade in my tickets, so hopefully I'll see it later this week.

I wanted to go with a couple of friends but couldn't because of work. Well I say they are friends, more like casual acquaintances. They both got sign boards and posters and were bitching because they didn't get what they wanted.

I actually got around to watching Shiki a couple months ago. It was a lot of fun. The buildup from episodes 1-12 was a little slow, and there was a definite formula going on that started to get a tad old, but once the ball got rolling, it really rolled. I do wish the cast of characters had been a little smaller, so that they could have spent a bit more time developing some of them, but it's a pretty small complaint all told. It also had the most fabulous hair.

Seen em both. If you want another good vampire anime check out Kurozuka.

Two of my favorites most won't think about or have even seen.

Shiki (Basically Salem's Lot Anime), Karin(Reverse Vampire).

Samurai Flamenco just upended my expectations about the show with the ending of episode #7: as I watched the last scene, I was having trouble believing that it wasn’t intended to be a dream sequence. But the way it ended, it looks like the writers are serious about this latest plot twist.

EDIT: Five episodes in. This is heartbreaking. Comedic at times, but stunningly bleak and nihilistic at its core. Definitely going to keep watching.
I'm reminded of a thing I said to a friend about it back in July:
this show makes me super uncomfortable i can't wait to watch it every week for three months

Finished Watamote. That was the most accurate depiction of depression and loneliness I've ever seen. Hope comes in fits and starts, followed soon after by disappointment, sliding downward to a tearful period of crisis and recovery - and then the cycle starts again. No cliche lessons here. I just want to reach into my screen and give Tomoko a hug.

And I'd probably also tell her that it's totally okay to be into girls. I mean seriously, every time Yuu shows up there's lesbian subtext through the roof.

I do think its really cool. I want to see an actually good and well written OEL come out. tbh I want it to be voiced but I want Japanese talent not US/UK talent because those who are usually in the dubbing industry tend to overact or underact or mess up the voices etc etc.

Most are original english language VNs. A handful are japanese or multilanguage ones. I think about 80 or even 90% have original stories (varying in how good they are storywise still) and the other 10-20% are fanfictions.
