Ah! Cool! Well, you'll have to let us know how the viewing goes...

That'd be interesting. Hopefully they'll revisit these characters at some point. Though I have a bad feeling they won't. Hopefully I'm wrong though...I loved those new characters (for the most part).

Heard they might be doing that. As long as they plan out some stories, then it should be good.

Pretty much. This is my favourite summary of what he's about.

No joke, I started watching Hbomb's Sherlock video right after making that last comment. It's still running in another tab, as I write this.

I hope Hbomb does a video about Moffat's Dracula show. I'd love to see his deconstruction of it.

          • Saw the trailer for Morbius the Living Vampire, and it looks potentially good. Interesting that this is clearly set in the MCU.

Does Zach Snyder know they stole his blue filter?

Better that than JJ Abrams's lens flares.

Yea, seems to be MCU adjacent. It's a Sony movie, so it's loosely connected to the Spider-Man movies. Kind of like Venom was. Though this one seems even more connected.

Anyway, it looks pretty cool. I'll be excited to see it.

                    • Marvel has a lot of good horror properties, and I wish they would do more with them in the MCU. I really was hoping the Jessica Jones series would introduce Son of Satan with the idea of spinning him off in his own horror series that could have involved Satana, Devil Slayer, Gargoyle and the like. As is, if Morbius is a hit, I'm hoping it might eventually lead to a team up film with him, Blade, one of the Ghost Riders, and Son of Satan/Satana.

They could do a version of midnight sons which included like all of those people. though I would keep it small Blade Morbius, Maybe Hellstrom, or Ghost Rider.

                        • Just realized there hasn't been much movie talk here in a loooong time.... though I know there hasn't been much movie viewing in theaters these days.

Do we think movie theaters will survive? or is streaming from here on out?

Also...how we feeling about Star Wars these days? I don't want to stir things up or anything, but maybe I owe Nyrufa a tiny bit of an apology? Seems they were right with some of the spoilers and stuff, and I don't think I ever acknowledged that. After some distance from The Rise of Skywalker, I don't think I'm all that into it. Not the worst Star Wars movie, but definitely not my favorite...

The Mandalorian though, now that is awesome! I know, not really a movie, but I'm highly enjoying that show!!

                          Anyway....anyone watching anything good lately?

                          • Even before the coronavirus, there's been theorizing that Disney has been trying to find a way to pull out of the whole theater thing, with theaters eating too much into their profits, forcing them to work on release schedules that don't necessarily fit with their economic needs. The larger the company, the more a monthly fee will appeal to them. Right now theaters are just sort of something you have to do to be considered a "real" film but Disney's been putting out movies on their own channels for decades that they can now put out to the same people who only go to theaters for MCU movies, or who only watch reruns of the Simpsons, or want to be on niche things like Stranger Things and Mandalorian.

Theaters are pretty outdated as is. As popular a past-time they are they're like rollercoasters and carnivals. Big expensive spaces devoted to extremely situational interests. Definitely going to need to retool if they want to do well past social distancing. A lot of theaters do things like show classic movies during matinees but I don't think it's really enough. Though if you're a big enough name you can glide on for years while not actually making any money so it's not like they're all going to close immediately. Whether they change, or shut down, I hope they make a decision rather than just linger on, lying about their successes until someone high up in a theater company decides that it's time to shutter things and kicks off a cascade of "surprise" shutdowns and layoffs, though that seems to be the preferred method of running businesses into the ground these days. Bleh.

Finally saw Return to Return to Nuke 'em High Vol 2 (they remade the first movie and split it into two parts). I enjoyed it but wouldn't recommend it except to folks who can unabashedly enjoy Troma trash, which it is a real celebration of.

I really enjoyed the Wolf of Snow Hollow, I get the feeling there was some edits made to it due to the death of Robert Forster, but I haven't looked into it to be able to say whether that's true or not, so it's just a feeling. It still manages to be a good movie, mostly about the main character of the sheriff, played fantastically by Jim Cummings, who also wrote and directed. Has an interesting and weird charisma about him, definitely manages to play the "on the edge" character who keeps being pushed. Also wow Riki Lindhome, first of her I've seen in something that wasn't more obvious comedy, she did well.

I've seen more movies but nothing really stood out that much, nothing looks particularly exciting for the future. Maybe The Batman, Riddler's my favorite Gotham villain and I'm curious to see if Paul Dano's usual whininess will help or hinder the role. Could go either way! I finally saw the Color Out Of Space and was incredibly surprised, it's really well done and Nicolas Cage manages to land heads up and make a great performance as a sort of failure of a family leader clinging to his pride. The acting was pretty good across the board, special effects were neat, definitely some memorable scenes, probably the best Lovecraft movie since Re-Animator.

I suppose as a recommendation, aside from Wolf of Snow Hollow, I'd like to suggest Scare Me. Very small film, just a few actors, but pretty fun and entertaining, an approaching middle-age guy who wants to be a writer decides to rent a cabin to "get away from it all" and finally write the novel he's always wanted, and happens to be renting near a young woman who is a successful writer doing the same thing. There's a blackout and one comes over and they sort of brainstorm through the night. It's simple, no wild special effects or anything, but very good.

Drive-in theaters have been doing pretty well though.

I still steer clear of talking about it, because it seems like the alt-right's going to have a grudge against it forever.

It's far from my favorite, yeah.

Cody's Showdy did a two-hour-plus Some More News movie about movies. Made me laugh, especially with regard to the Super Mario Brothers movie.

                              • re how cinemas are going to be after covid, I agree that they'e going to have to diversify, but then my local has been a gerenal arts centre with an art galery and live theatre for years now. looking forward to going to see a film there once it's safe mind, well and the right one to come along, I dont go and see films very often, the next one will probably be Dune, when that comes out.

Star Wars - was not keen on tRoS, It wasnt walk out of the cinema bad, but it's bottom of the rankings when it comes to star wars for me. Mandalorian Season 1 was really great though, and I will get round to watching season two when I can.
