If a Mystic's ability included the ability to talk with/bond with a dog, then that could also be Shaggy, perhaps?
On the other hand, it would be kind of cool to have rules for playing dogs (and perhaps other animals) that would allow for things like Scooby Doo, Beast from The Hills Have Eyes, Nanook in The Lost Boys, Saint in Marvel's Tomb of Dracula, Einstein in Dean Koontz's The Watchers, and Harold in Bunnicula.

What is tolerance? It is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly. That is the first law of nature.
    Voltaire, "Tolerance" (1764)

The book looks good, but I was surprised by the amount of minor - and not so minor - errata I'm still finding, including stuff I reported during the last errata round. There are five references to a monster known as "The Raven", including one with a (see p. XX) annotation, but I can't find the monster anywhere in the book using a text search. I also spent about two hours last night sending in typo errata for one chapter.

Just to point out, there is this on the errata sheet: "p. XX (these will be deleted as we do not implement them at this stage)", because we don't do XXs until the end. Thanks!

I'm aware of that. I pointed that out not because it was errata, but because the inclusion of such a page pointer proves outright that the five seperate references to The Raven (on pages 198, 213, 214, 219, and 221) are to an antagonist that is definitely supposed to be in the book (rather than some companion book that is still in the works).

The Raven was a monster I ended up removing close to the last moment, due to space issues. I appreciate you submitting all the errata though! It's very helpful.

Downloaded the revised final copy of the book from DriveThru RPG. Is there something weird with my browser's PDF viewer, or is the final page of each Archtype entry (with the Perspectives and Example Characters sections) still filled with ridiculously tiny type?

                      • Weird. I just reopened it with the same browser I used yesterday, and it displays fine now. I have no idea why that happened, and only for those specific pages.

                        • We've been deep into playing this game for awhile now, using the Kickstarter manuscript and then the pre-release PDF.

We've added a bit more meta into our ongoing game. Each story is a movie and we play an actor trope from Ironspike Studios (get it, Hammer studios...Ironspike...). So we each designed a actor and then we play the characters in the movies (each story). Our next session is this weekend, looking forward to getting back to it after the holiday break.

                          • My ongoing Beyond the Grave! campaign draws heavy inspiration from Midnight Mass. It's all set on a creepy island and alternates between 19th century and 1970s settings, changing for each session. It's going well so far!

                              • The revised version of Heroes in a World of Horror! is up at DriveThruRPG.com. Looks like they did a good job of fixing the problems I submitted to the errata sheet, except for one thing they actually made worse while trying to correct the mistake. The character sheet on page 45 used to have a single wrong Relationship level. There should have been one level 3, three level 2s, and three level 1s, so they needed to change one relationship from level 1 to 2; they instead reduced a level 2 relationship to level 1, so the character now has one level 3 relationship, one level 2 relationship, and five level 1 relationships.
