  • Appearance Enhancers

My character in 3rd edition currently has Appearance 7 due to the charms Awakened Carnal Demiurge in Presence tree, and the Thousand Courtesan Ways in Performance. I think there is a third in Survival (Miracles, not Core) called Elements sculpted Avatar. Is there anyway using the RAW to get it even higher? I mean as a base amount, not with Scene long like the Black Claw Style.

In 2E the terrestrial circle spell Disguise of the new face can indefinitely* increase or decrease someone's appearance by up to the caster's essence as part of a disguise. It can't just make you prettier, though,it has to be part of a disguise, and I don't know what it will do in 3E.

*as long as the disguise is not seen through, which gets easier if appearance rises truly high

I thank the Devs for the great game of Exalted!

While this won't get it HIGHER, an Eclipse caste can learn the Neomah Seductive Shapeshifting charm which gives an effective +2 to appearance vs. a particular person ...but doesn't stack with other appearance enhancers.

I'm pretty sure that App 8 is the max for Solars. Still that puts you one up on the Raksha, so that's crazy impressive.

There is. (Survival 5, Essence 3, Prerequisite count 3, 6 mote cost). It indefinitely raises appearance by one; although gives distinct bestial or elemental features.

It is not even that. Heart-Ripping Claw's mastery's appearance-enhancer effect only lasts until the end of the fight.

Is not having two/three stackable indefinite attribute enhancers more than enough? Who even thought it would be a good idea? Even considering the heavy investment of abilities, charms, and essence commitment

Not to mention somewhat devaluing the idea of appearance 5 in a way not as present in strength. Strength we can easily look and see examples of higher than human strength, in the form of doing things with that strength like shredding iron gates by hand. Superhuman appearance is harder to imagine, I find, in a way that is both understandable and capable of being described well.
I remember in 2e there being a ridiculous number of appearance enhancers.i probably wouldn't want more than the three we have, and would definitely not want external charms or artifacts to stack with them, even if they make for an amusing idea at times.

Nope, seems you found all of them. You can be so beautiful that Helen of Troy (probably 5 App) looks like a plain Jane compared to you (Difference between Helen and almost everyone else is 3 App, the same difference between yourself and her).

Getting +3 non-charm social dice, always, against Batman (Resolve 5) is a nice bonus. Obviously against lesser beings you can just pull out the gallon dice bucket.

Edit: Hmm so some back of the napkin math: 8 (App) + 6 (Presence + Specialty) + 3 (Bonus from appearance) + 3 (Harmonious Presence Meditation) + 2 (One point stunt) = 22 dice without spending any essence except for HPM which saves you motes in the long run if you keep it committed.

That is a monster social influence pool to be tossing about without trying!

Yep, it costs motes to have it committed of course, but for permanent upgrades I think it is worth it for a primarily social character; and my combat style utilises appearance also. Some of the presence charms make it automatic successes instead of non charm dice, if you ever want to burn more motes on certainty.

I have started down the path of Dreaming Pearl Courtesan Style Martial Arts, and the charm Seven Storms Escape Prana subtracts dice equal to the martial artist’s Appearance from a roll made to oppose one of her disengage attempts, to rush her, or from the control roll of a clinch against her. If the Dreaming Pearl Courtesan’s successes on the opposed action exceed the Resolve of the opponent, then he must pay a point of Willpower to maintain his focus or else automatically fail the roll.

And Pearlescent Filigree Defence means whenever the martial artist is hit by an attack, she may spend up to her (Appearance) in motes, adding one point to her armored soak against that attack for each mote spent this way.

My guile is currently 9 (Guarded Thoughts Meditation), and can be boosted to a maximum of 12 with WP and socialise charm Shadow over Day. But with Guile 9 the Doe Eyed Defence, and Open Palm Carress of Black Claw Style are sure to 'hit'.

I think I am pretty boosted, I might just try for a sorcerous working or an artifact (whats an extra 4motes, right?) to get it a touch higher. I would like to get 10 as a permanent base. I don't particularly care if it is overkill, if an athletics supernal can flip a mountain with extended effort, I think being so pretty you melt peoples eyeballs with your glory is just as possible.

Dreaming Pearl has some interesting but limited synergy with Black Claw. I'll run through the charms and post what I think, but suffice to say I don't think rushing to Gazellecarp is the best use of your charms.

I wonder how high Lunars can get their Appearance this edition.

I'd imagine they would have access to much better Attribute boosting charms than Solars, so chances are good that their App might end up higher than 8?

Why assume Helen of Troy's beauty is wholly mortal? She's a daughter of Zeus and Leda, if memory serves…

I dunno, but the highest I've ever seen was 20-something in 2e.

Read my shit at my homebrew topic, 2.5e and 3e material!
                        Play Alchemical's in 3e now, you're welcome.

All indications point out that god-blooded in 3e don't have super Attributes for the most part, or have you seen differently?

We dont really have indications of what a god-blooded is in 3ed. They must be saving that for the future, so they dont want to lock themselves before that.
What i heard so far is that a god-blooded can:
Have his hair color match that of his divine parent.
Have a dicepool of 10 on things related to his God parent.
                            Have supernatural merits.
Have his own charm like power (im not sure about this one, i might be saying bull)

If you can have the equivalent of Burning name as the daughter of a volcano god, having an app of 6 is not something so wild out there.

The demigods of Greek myth were often the movers and shakers of their world; their narrative role is closer to Exalted than that of God-Blooded.

If I was to have something resembling Helen of Troy in my game, I would probably represent her with a social-focused Exalt, most likely a Solar.
