  • What are the pitfalls of an essence based charmset?

    Comment

    • With Arms of the Choses being in the pageXX proofing change, what are the odds of it releasing this month (November)?

I wouldn't want to set any odds; trying to nail down release dates has historically failed to yield positive outcomes.

Biggest things are that you miss out on the conceptual scaffolding that basing Charms on Abilities/Attributes provides, and that you lose some granularity because you don't have the ability to give Charms trait minimums. Not insurmountable obstacles, but things to be kept in mind.

          • How does target number reduction interact with effects which reroll e.g. 6s until they disappear? Do you get exploding 6s?

Basically, yeah. The strength of target number manupulation means that Sidereals won't have much in the way of other dice tricks, though.

Ah, thanks. I was actually thinking about Solars and them receiving TN reductions as boons, e.g. from one of Plentimon's Ladybugs or as an astrological blessing from a Sidereal or somesuch.

                    • Is it possible to achieve TN reduction through sorcerous working, for example in Twilight's kitchen or workshop?

                      • So, a few questions relevant for a game I'm planning.

Where is the Kunlun area located in the new map? And the Zalvenesh? Grieve stands really close to were Naruu and Liriel-Anneth used to be. Is Grieve culturally a Kunlun city state, a Zalvenesh city? Does it follow the Shinning Path or worship the Zal-Kelementi? Is it a Realm satrapy?

Kunlun used to be a water shadow desert tundra, but now the mountains fall short of completely shielding the area from the sea south of it. Does the tundra still extends to the western coast, or has this area's climate changed with the edition?

How might one justify using a Working to solely affect game mechanics when those mechanics don't exist in-character?

                          • Yeah, possibly a better question is, What effects are best modelled with TN reduction as opposed to extra dice/successes or lowered difficulty?

Some elders of the Silver Pact may disagree with his methods and overarching agenda, both before his disappearance and after his reappearance, but the Silver Pact generally prioritizes their shared vendetta against the Realm over individual differences. The Lunars of the Caul respect him, because he's a charismatic crusader and a living legend—there's a lot to respect.

Long and the short of it, "rival to the Black Lion" is role that's left open for a Lunar player character to take.

Is he inspired by Black Tooth, from Werewolf, but less an asshole ?

Maybe when the TN reduction is only focused in a single thing? So, special summoning chambers with special ingredients and seals and symbols of power, lowering the TN of summoning demons while inside it, or something.
