    Unless I'm missing something, the prohibition against using counterattacks against counterattacks isn't a general rule, but a function of the Counterattack keyword, which the Crane Charms lack.

    I would, however, strongly advise against clinging to that technicality. Anything that prolongs the resolution of one character's combat round should be restricted, and letting people chain counterattacks can lead to a really long loop - I've actually experienced that in Deathwatch (the 40k Space Marine RPG) when we misinterpreted the rules in a way that led to one player taking about fifteen minutes to resolve his chain of counters against a chaos champion. Not fun, and bear in mind 40k RPG is lightning fast to resolve compared to Exalted.
