  • Lunarizing Solar Integrity

I'm inspired to explore ways in which Lunar Exalted Charms might tap into the concept of "rage", especially as a way to set them apart from the Solar Exalted. What better place to start than Integrity?

    WITS

Hard-Nosed Denial Style (Enduring Mental Toughness)
    Cost: 1m; Mins: Wits 1, Essence 1
    Type: Reflexive
    Keywords: None
    Duration: Instant
    Prerequisite Charms: None
In the face of pain and weakness, a Lunar draws strength from thinking about what matters. For one tick, the Lunar may ignore a number of wound, illness, and crippling penalties to her Resolve or Guile equal to the resolve bonus of the relevant Intimacy. If that Intimacy's bonus is greater than the number of penalties, she adds the difference as a further bonus to her Resolve or Guile. This Charm cannot be used if the Lunar does not currently experience penalties from the list sources.

At Wits 3+, this Charm can be repurchased, giving it an alternate cost and duration. For five motes, one Willpower the duration extends to one scene.

At Wits 5+, Essence 3+, this Charm may be repurchased a second time, allowing the Exalt to pay eight motes, one Willpower to extend the effect to one day.

Rage is passion and passion comes from the things you care about. Our new developers have said that Lunar Exalted rely on rage to give them strength and falter when they can't muster any, so their version of EMT is limited by how much they care. In balance, if the Lunar cares strongly enough, she can go past negating all penalties and actually gain a bonus.

    Deafening Wrath (Stubborn Boar Defense)
    Cost: —; Mins: Wits 1/2, Essence 1
    Type: Permanent
    Keywords: None
    Duration: Permanent
    Prerequisite Charms: None
If the Lunar does not have any Intimacy appropriate for resisting a form of social influence, she may automatically instill in herself a passion of anger that may be treated as a Major Intimacy for the purposes of modifying Resolve and enabling persuade actions (Exalted: Third Edition, page 218); this may be used as a defense against an inspire action intended to inflame any passion other than anger. Unless inspired to feel a different passion, this passion of anger lasts for the rest of the scene and may used to resist any repeat attempts of the same social influence for that duration. Social influence from the Lunar’s Solar Mate always ignores this effect.

Here, the Lunar just plain gets angry. This anger can be more useful than Stubborn Boar Defense, but it also introduces vulnerabilities that canny foes can exploit.

    Two-Faced Hero (Steel Heart Stance)
    Cost: 4m, 1wp; Mins: Wits 4, Essence 2
    Type: Reflexive
    Keywords: None
    Duration: Instant
    Prerequisite Charms: Hard-Nosed Denial Style
The Lunar betrays herself to remain true to herself. After being persuaded to take a Major or Defining course of action via one of her Principles and against one of her Ties, this Charm allows the Lunar to change the nature of that Principle to deny the influence. Her opponent’s argument was compelling, but she cannot deny her bonds. The storyteller must approve of the Principle's new nature.

This Charm may only be used once per story, but is reset if the Lunar witnesses how the act of changing her mind promoted the subject of one of her positive Ties. For example, a Lunar who betrays his principle of never telling a lie will find this Charm reset if lying saves the reputation of a woman for whom he holds a Defining Tie of love.

    Righteous Lion Defense
    Cost: —; Mins: Wits 5, Essence 2
    Type: Permanent
    Keywords: None
    Duration: Permanent
    Prerequisite Charms: Two-Faced Hero

As the Solar Charm, but the Lunar empowers his Ties rather than his Principles.

    STAMINA

    Audacious Cat-Nap (Mind-Cleansing Prana)
    Cost: 5m; Mins: Stamina 4, Essence 2
    Type: Simple
    Keywords: Mute
    Duration: Instant
    Prerequisite Charms: ???

As the Solar Charm. But since Lunars are all about rage, meditation isn't their forte. So they just throw themselves to the ground and take a power-nap.

This aesthetic cuts off the discipline-oriented avenues of power available to Solars, such as Clear Mind Discipline, but it does open up other avenues of sleepy power, such as Bear Sleep Technique and Who Disturbs My Slumber. The Lunar doesn't ever learn how to compress a night's sleep into one moment, but rather, they learn how to sleep HARDER within that one hour than a Solar can, and also how to extend rejuvenating sleep for longer.

Midday Lion Repose (Energy Restoration Prana)

This one could definitely stand to be linked with the Lunar self-healing Charms under Stamina. Perhaps the twenty motes can only be spent towards fueling those regeneration Charms?

    PERCEPTION

Resisting the Lure of Madness (Integrity-Protecting Prana)

The Solar Charm confers a constant alertness to the immediate presence of the Wyld's influence, even when one is asleep. This is appropriately placed in Lunar Perception, especially as it would be followed by Wyld-Sensing Instincts (for becoming alert to distant lands lost to the Wyld, as well as for navigating the Wyld) and Outland-Navigating Guile (for extending the same awareness towards other non-Creation worlds). This would be found together with other Perception Charms related to navigation, such as Lodestone-Reckoning Manner, and other Wyld-related such as Harmony With Reality Technique.

    Eagle-Fish Transition Prophecy (Destiny-Manifesting Method)

Through his alertness, the Lunar better employs his protean nature to resist unwelcome changes from external sources. With his intuition, he immediately understands what he needs to do to find a cure for the curse.

These were a later addition to the above post.

They honestly don't feel any different from the Solar versions of those charms. They're so similar that rather than call attention to the differences between Solars and Lunars, it makes Lunars look like Silver Solars - which can only harm both splats.
