  • Who let Oramus get a movie?

Saw this, thought of the garden soul of Oramus and her penchant for...strangeness.

I did a lot of homebrew over here. PEACH.

Gah, opening a link? Too much effort.

Is it A Wrinkle in Time?

I have approximate knowledge of many things.

Nope, it's Annihilation, based on the Jeff VanderMeer novel.

Honestly I'd think the Area X series is more Helgra than Oramus.

          That makes me think Bordermarches.

The boundary/barrier does look how I always visualized Pure Chaos.

Everyone in the US make sure you actually go see this movie, if you want to encourage smart scifi - the studio is cutting its release because they think it's too brainy...

Yeah, this was my first thought when I saw the preview.

Good looking out! As a plus, I can invite my (soon to be) Exalted players (suddenly the Bordermarches will become easier to describe). Great article.

I would, but it's not playing in my city.

Bordermarches are more gradual and subtle than that.

Okay, having seen it? It's pretty much just A Movie About The Wyld. Yes, the obvious shimmering edge border is more blatant than the border between Creation and the Bordermarches. Everything else in the movie is what the Wyld looks like.

Just watched it too. Beyond the Shimmer being very chaotic I was left with the impression that the region depicted something more regular than the Deep Wyld.

I had envisioned the Deep Wyld being much less ordered and more chaotic than the wondrous delights shown in Anniliation. I came away feeling it could represent the Middlemarches or Bordermarches depending upon how subtle you viewed the alterations in the flora and fauna.

Not looking to start a debate. Just stating my impressions.

Do see the movie. I quite liked it.

It looks a bit too “horror movie” to me from the trailer. How scary was it?

It's closer to a psychological thriller than anything. Not much in the way of horror staples to be honest. Visually gorgeous.

Disclaimer: horror movies rarely scare me. So take my comments with that in mind.
