  • Still, slaves and legionnaires must die by the numbers. Goes to show the value of DBs to the Realm, even if they are Outcastes.

    • Pasiap's Stair is no joke, nor are its graduates.

      • Say, if we notice an error somewhere in the preview where are we supposed to send that info? Message them on the Kickstarter website?

        • Nowhere. Save it until the final laid-out preview .pdf; apparently we don’t want anyone reporting an error here, and then not reporting it during the big push to get the layout .pdf fixed because they remember reporting it here.

          • Ah, okay I'll save it until then.

            • I'll admit, I raised an eyebrow at the bit where the Great Houses turned up their noses at graduates of Pasiap's Stair. Like, they're part of a rare group of superhumans who have been trained since childhood to be really good at waging war. Why would you, in a time when civil war was imminent, not want as many in your employ as possible? The possibility that they might be more loyal to the Empress than your house doesn't strike me as that big a threat when there's no Empress to be loyal to. And surely, if you hand them a position of responsibility, treat them with respect, and pay them well (and maybe promise to fudge the rule that says they have to serve for 50 years), it would be easy enough to suborn them at least enough to get your money's worth.

You’re expecting classist prejudice to be logical?

It’s been engrained for centuries that Lost Eggs are unfit for the Great Houses and are left to serve the Empress because it’s not like they can climb the ladder of power themselves. Of course the real motivation here was so the Empress could cultivate powerful skilled agents completely loyal to her - but the social programming doesn’t disappear in a proof of logic.

It does provide an opportunity for those Houses that are able to get past said prejudice. Specifically V’neef as it builds its ranks from scratch, and Tepet trying to rebuild.

Would you say there's a convention or rule in which students who get a bad hit are expected to stay down, at which point they're supposed to be left alone, with the occasional one who keeps pushing themselves regardless and might invite more damage than they can survive?

I have approximate knowledge of many things.

I'm willing to bet that most students at that academy would be too proud to willingly stay down.

Well, the ones that lived to make it to the graduation 'party' anyway.

                      • Am I alone in thinking that since they received one of the coveted Prestige Spreads, the Forest Witches would have gotten a section in the latest chapter? Between the section on Lookshy and the section of Outcastes? Or in the Outcaste section at least?

That surprised me, but it’s not that off from the other Exalted types getting their spreads in the corebook.

                          • Pasiap's Stair's curriculum leans heavily on instilling loyalty to the Realm in toto and to the Empress as an authority figure. The Houses are nervous about putting people with that sort of indoctrination in command positions at the moment.

I was thinking that too, Prasad also doesn't get a mention.
