  • Lunars you're looking forward to creating with the new book

Thousand Fang Shadow: assassin, guerilla, terrorist. His spirit form is a panther. I'm leaning toward Full Moon caste, but he might end up being a No Moon. Intimacies include, but are not limited to: Make the Realm Bleed [hatred], Feel Dragon-Blooded Throats Between Your Jaws [rage]. I'm hoping for some army-training Charms, so he can make use of his War [Asymmetric Warfare] specialization.

Well, those are in the first charm preview.

I started playing a Lunar recently, but without a lot of support. Luckily, the three sessions I've played her didn't involve any fighting; me and the group's Eclipse were following a Realm spy for 2 sessions, then I missed a session, and then I hung out at the PCs' main base meeting a couple of other PCs, and did some investigation.
So I've been able to get away with a small number of charms so far, but I am looking forward to writing up the character properly.

Dr Soma Vraidya is a Casteless snake-totem doctor and master of martial arts.
After her parents died, she sold her share in the family farm and came to the big city, where she trained was trained by the Eight Venom Sisterhood in medicine, poison and Snake style. They healed the sick poor, fought off rival dojos, and sometimes carried out quarantines for the King. But most of them fell in the Realm invasion several years ago. She was independent for a while, then went through a phase as a trainee Immaculate nun, but found the nuns to be hypocrites. She returned home to her brothers' farms, but when Realm soldiers came to levy taxes they couldn't afford, she killed three with pressure point strikes and poisoned the other two with her sudden growth of poisonous fangs.
To protect her family, she went on the run, eventually finding her way to Jyudo Far-Flung, bear-lord of the Tangle. She lived with him for a month, but when Loyal Fox, Eclipse diplomat of a nearby circle of Solars, came to discuss an alliance, Jyudo sent Dr Soma back with her to meet the other Solars.

So currently she's a Casteless practicioner of Snake Style with a splash of Immaculate martial arts, and the poison and medicine charms from the preview, plus a few others.
My favoured attributes are Dexterity, Manipulation and Intelligence, but I'm not sure which Caste to pick once Jyudo arranges for a No Moon to come do it. I thought I'd wait and see if one Caste has charms that I find more fun than the others.

Appearance actually looks quite fun from the preview, but that's actually her lowest attribute (3) as we have another Lunar with Appearance 5 in the party. And I'm sure there'll be plenty of fun charms in the other trees.

I thought I might find, after the book came out, that I had another really exciting concept, but I didn't want to wait 5-6 sessions before starting playing again, after my Solar died.

I'm pondering Princess Eiko, a Ladybird Totem that rifs on some of the old Princess in the Tower stories. More western than i normally go in Exalted, gonna look up other variants of the story. Kinda split between Changing and No Moon

The literal combat wombat. A Full Moon with a wombat totem; somewhat inspired by the art of "Rabid Wombats" from old Magic: the Gathering, and somewhat inspired by just the silly name.

After seeing (some of) the War Charms, I'm considering an Army Ant Totem general, who's an awe-inspiring war-leader but is also unsettlingly inhuman in aspect.

The blood brother of my Prasadi Air Aspect, a "guest" of the Pure Way who spends most of his life trying to moderate his Anathemic impulses and trying to be a good Immaculate and moral support of his more Realm-approved brother, a Pasiap's Stair graduate.

Leaving out, of course, that he sees no paradox between his beliefs and being an adherent of Amatha Kinslayer. To him, the Realm has strayed from its dharma of bringing order to the world with its addiction to slavery, conquest, and lack of respect for other paths (plus how the Pure Way is regarded as a heretical faith, which obviously doesn't sit well with a Pure Way monk). The fact that Injira (the Dragon-Blood) is a rising star among military sorcerers makes him an excellent ally for inserting healthier strains of the Immaculate philosophy into the mainstream, with a hope of causing a schism that turns it against the Realm and/or negotiates with other Lunars rather than Wyld Hunting them as the first, last, and only resort. A task helped by the fact it wasn't actually a plan until Injira revealed he was also skeptical of the Wyld Hunt as a concept; he didn't so much "manipulate" as "convince Injira to forward some Pure Way writings to his soldiers and encourage him to voice his doubts when in a shikari."

That, or an abnormally talented "mortal" graduate of the Heptagram, who hides the fact he's a No Moon who deeply resents the very concept of House Ragara behind normal sorcerer weirdness ("Oh! Did you not know a mortal who becomes a sorcerer often develops mutations from Essence beyond their ken? That's why I have portee ivory fur on my ears.")

                  A combat wombat you say...

(Granted Digger is probably more of a No Moon, but she’s not bad in a fight)

I have many ideas, but I'm going to refine them when I see later chapters of the book and more charms. I really get the feeling there's going to be a lot of charms in this book that make you go "Oh maaaan I need to add that to my idea!" Like, for example, a Lunar who hunts prey from the mirrors of their target's boudoirs.

I want to make a No Moon necromancer, but sadly we are still going to be waiting a bit for necromancy to actually get published (though I guess there is always homebrew). I'll have to wait until all the charms are out to see what I would make based solely on whats in the book.

Watch out for those wolverine-folk, they're bad eggs. Of course, it's the space spiders that'll really kill you...

I want to make a Lunar cult leader, a dark patriarch leading his flock of oppressed mutants and beastmen against their tormentors. When the time is right, the children of the dark will boil forth from their lairs to drag down the Dragonbloods and their accomplices, and roar their victory into the skies over a mound of their foes' skulls.

They're not heralds of an intergalactic swarm of locusts, and their fury is very justified; but that doesn't make them nice.

Edit: This might work better with an Abyssal, but Lunars are coming out first.

A swarm Lunar. One whose innermost self is a large swarm of insects. I can only imagine what would make a person become that, and I want to play that person.

I'm still hoping to recreate my monkey-totem martial artist (in the aesthetic vein of Son Goku), so I'm really looking forward to dexterity and wits charms in particular. I'm hoping to be able to do something cool with multiple MA styles (probably a max of 2 given the huge investment, but mixing MA is conceptually cool even if not optimal), lunar attribute charms, and hopefully a cool SSJ4 form-ahem-Deadly Beastman Transformation.

Conceptually, his schtick is that he believes that, since the First Age, the Exalted Host has repeatedly made the same mistake: creating a world that can't function and survive without them. The Solars created wonders that couldn't be sustained in their absence. The Sidereals and Terrestrials created the Realm that can't be sustained in the Empress' absence. This guy is very focused on teaching martial arts to mortals as a way to elevate their minds and their bodies to allow them to build a Creation that doesn't center around the Exalted.

He also wants to be the first Lunar to master a Sidereal Martial Art... that's a whole separate story

(This will be the recreation of a 2E character. His Motivation was the master an SMA, and all of the other stuff described above built up over the course of a years-long campaign. Hopefully... I actually get a chance to recreate this character.)
