  • A lunar friendly kavara

So I am in love with Kavara, as many seem to be, and I'm planning to use it as a major boss encounter at some point in my upcoming exalted campaign. Now I noticed that a lot of the evocations are specific to solars which seems to be the case for several arms of the chosen artifacts. Are there any lunar friendly conversions out there or suggestions for ways i can do it myself?

Replace Battle Fury Focus in any Evocation prerequisites with Relentless Lunar Fury.

Replace Carnal Spirit Rending with the Lunar ghost-eating Charm.

    Bam. You're done.

    (Also, it's Karvara.)

Pretty much, but it's slightly more complex than that. The benefits of Chain-Breaking Frenzy don't quite work for Relentless Lunar Fury.

I'd do something like this for Chain-Breaking Frenzy.

      God-And-Beast Frenzy
      Cost: —(1m, 1wp); Mins: Essence 2
      Type: Permanent
      Keywords: None
      Duration: Permanent
Prerequisites: Relentless Lunar Fury, Berserker Fury Blitz
As her vision goes red with fury, the Lunar becomes one
with the beating heart of Karvara’s infinite rage. This
Evocation upgrades Relentless Lunar Fury (Lunars, p. 355),
reducing its cost to one mote, one willpower, and allowing
it to be activated if Karvara is damaged as if she herself has
been wounded. In addition, while in limit break she gains the
charm's Protean benefit as if she was in an animal form with
      the Berzerker merit.
If the Lunar knows Knife-Biting Attitude or Wounded Boar
Rampage, she may activate them when Karvara is damaged
as if she herself has been wounded.

Brother Alazar, Zenith occultist and last survivor of the Black Monastery of Leng
Shadow of Kings, Twilight barbarian scholar, master of lost First Age crafting techniques. Has a lot of clones. Picture by Jen.

For God-Monster Apotheosis, you can easily replace "Carnal Spirit Rending" with "Shed Divinity's Nectar". Though you're not getting the evocation effect (because there's no charms to get).

You could instead replace it with God-Body Consumption, and make that free (saving you up to 15 motes, but generally probably 3-6), but again, you can learn those charms for 8xp anyway, so why would you bother spending 10xp to get them as evocations?

So I think there'd need to be a different benefit instead, but I'm not sure what.

That sounds perfect. Ill think over the advantages to a Lunar version of God-Monster-Apotheosis. While the circle is open to be mixed my first two characters are apparently Lunar and Im aware my players might somehow manage to take Karvara and I need to be ready for it.

I think this is great, but it does raise the question of whether there are warstriders that Lunars could not develop such an Evocation, thus making Relentless Lunar Fury inaccessible without one of the upgrades that allows you to activate it with other triggers.

Hmmm... I think it depends on the theme.

Part of the themes of Karvara is that the Lunar and Warstrider are somewhat merged, in a way that's not so common with, say, most Orichalcum warstriders. So damage to the Warstrider causes the Lunar to feel the pain and the rage it causes.

I think it'd be a pretty common kind of evocation for Moonsilver Warstriders, and maybe found in a few others, but not universal.
