  • Demons of the Invisible Fortress (Spoilers)

So, I'm about to run the Invisible Fortress adventure (from 1e Time of Tumult) for my group of E4 Solars (with a heavy power upgrade for the Guardian) but I'm unsure how to deal with / utilize the Demon workforce that constructed the Manse, called the Founders in the adventure.

One approach is to just use them as is. There are X variations if demons in Malfeas, so it's not unreasonable that the "founders" are simply a type that's generally under used since the time of Kal Bax. The prob is... man are they boring. They work fine for their role in the story, but all the original, evocative ideas about demons weren't developed yet, so they come off as generically "demon-ey". Of course, 5,000 blood apes or 5,000 hopping puppeteers are going to be a very different group of beings than the Founders currently are...

Which is basically my 2nd option, replacing the generic founders with a mox of better known more interesting demons, with like 1,000 puppeteers, 1,000 blood apes, etc. But, this kinda messes with how the demons and the demon-blooded animals in the region are portrayed.

I'm leaning towards this. Making U'Awa an Agata, replacing most of the generic demons with pupetteers and blood apes, and making the snow-eaters primarily blood ape progeny.

Has anyone else ran this adventure and modified the Founders at all? Any useful advice for updating 'em to GoD level interest?

Blasphemy? No, it is not blasphemy. If God is as vast as that, he is above blasphemy; if He is as little as that, He is beneath it.

Maybe replace them with the smiths in Compass Malfeas?

Aha! Good thinking, those make a good fitting as well, thanks.
