honestly if it weren’t for Lunars, I’d be inclined to remove a lot of current existent animals from Creation and play up prehistoric animals as the norm. But I wouldn’t want to rob Lunars of some of the modern animal forms with powerful symbolic meaning to players.

What to name it though...River Fisher? Fisher Dragon? Ridgeback?

The Chinese name apparently is spine/thorn dragon. That seems like some pretty good places to start htere for me at least. (I like thorn dragon myself).

        And stuff.

since we still have this towards the top again, I need to ask: did we do Helicoprion yet?

Ok, so we need whirltooths to fight Siakas, Orcas, and armoredterrors.

getting a lot of stuff for aquatic lunars now.

Might have shared this earlier, but can't hurt to link it again.

I've been making a little archive of the prehistoric fauna that are present in Exalted. I've mostly stuck to things that have 3E sources, though I've included one or two from prior editions that don't have write-ups but have been mentioned (Siaka being the main one)

If I've left any out, let me know and I'll gladly add them!

didn't we have a thread for fan made fauna too (prehistori, modern, and unreal)? or some wiki source? if not we need to get one together.

No idea. As an aside, has anyone ever toyed with some "sapient megafauna" stuff, like suggested by my Alaun/Austrech association in a previous post?

                    • Honestly it seems to me that I can use mostly the Tyrant Lizard stat card in the core book to mostly simulate anything that a Siaka can do. For my Siaka lunar in my narrative I'm working on I pretty much will use that for some 3rd Edition mechanics for that form. Though I'm sure there are a lot of stats given for various critters that can be adapted for stuff that don't currently show up.

                      • I always wanted to play a Lunar with the entelodont as their totem form. Mainly because their nickname screams some distant origin to Isidoros.

I'm surprised even though I really shouldn't be, considering they're both large predators that primarily rely on a big mouth and powerful propulsion from the lower body.

You'd have to get rid of the throw effect on the jaw shake (they would let it float and either press the attack or swim down, wait for blood loss and shock to weaken the unfortunate whale, and come back to finish the job), and of course, the roar, unless you want to have siaka as Otodus megalodon showing off signs of their relation to modern sand tigers, which have been known to gulp air and "bark" it out. Not that a dinosaur should be "roaring", either.

I like the idea of the barking. Though again have to try and adapt what you can with what is published. The throw could possibly still be performed if on or near the surface with prey that can be thrown with the head. Great White sharks do that with fur seals after they breach up underneath them...then of course the bleed out afterwards. Or well so it seems to me anyway. Also I also like to tweak things thematically with types of Siaka like what the first edition exalted did, Tiger Siaka and Mako Siaka for example. The physical attribute stats likely are pretty similar too given how many of the 'Legendary' size creatures seem to be close in the numbers, str 10 etc. But maybe the stats could change some like with the Mako maybe some more dex to simulate greater speed, or Tiger with a more powerful or bite.

That is one thing I did like with the build a creature system in 2nd edition, which I'd imagine you could do the same with 3rd, taking a base creature then adding appropriate mutations and abilities. Just not sure how kosher it gets to be with the general Exalted gaming community though.
