I'm really enjoying this podcast and the dynamic of the core three hosts. That said, thank you so much for involving Neall in this Alchemicals episode. I felt like the Abyssals episode suffered because you lacked someone who could speak with reverence and enthusiasm about the topic, which is something Neall excels at. I'm going to go read up on Alchemicals now because I kinda want to play a robo-communist in Essence. Point is, I know the writers pour a lot of effort into these splats and it does a disservice to them if any are portrayed as "goofy" (especially when Onyx Path folks seem pretty reachable for this sort of stuff).
On another note, I hope you have an episode covering the Raksha, Mountain Folk and/or Dragon Kings. I know these are even more niche topics than Alchemicals, but they do provide published material you can talk about if you're not ready to get into the new Exalt types yet.

Neall's always a fun guest to have on!
We do have a plan to talk about the Raksha, Dragon King, and other inhabitance of Creation, but we're probably going to do it further down the line.
For the Abyssals, I am actually pretty enthusiastic about them. I'm sorry that didn't come across for you in the episode.

We are going to talk about the new Exalts, but we're doing it all in one episode since we didn't feel like there was quite enough about any of them for a full episode yet. We have a loose plan to come back to them when they're released down the road.
After that, we're going to start alternating between systems/rules focused episodes and location episodes.

So we are done with exalt types, and moving on to the nine directions? Looks like we are, and starting with the center: The Seat of The Scarlet Empire.

Happy that you didn't forgot about alchemicals, but sad about the 29/30 estimate kickstarter year.

Some thoughts on Character Creation: Solars and Lunars.
It's a beaut campaign pitch. The Tarpan Wastes sure has a lot of potential for somewhere so desolate. It would be nice to see it fleshed out some more while you're showcasing rule systems.
He's an ex-monk who uncovered an heretical secret in the badlands. She's on the run for a crime she did not commit -- attempted dynicide.
Together, they fightcrime...the Realm!
And this was a nice walkthrough the character creation process.
---
Remember that Survival is also the animal training ability, and hosts the Familiar charm, to the point some feel it focusses too much on this.
Monica didn't mention Hybrid Body Transformation during her charm selection. Was that a deliberate omission? (It's not given free in Ex3, but of course, you don't have to purchase it.)
Terry skimmed over the merits purchasable for Pact with an Ifrit Lord, but The Burning Name is very much the 'magic missile' effect he was looking for -- not a spell, not as potent as one, but much easier to use.

Once ageain, glad to hear you enjoyed it! And yes, the Solar Survival charms are overly focused on the familiar training charms. I usually forget that aspect of the ability since I've never seen it as a major aspect in a game, even for characters that do have a familiar.

I started with the Abyssals episode because they have always been my favorite Exalted, and I almost gave up on the podcast after that.
Luckily, I didn't. The rest of the episodes are far better than that and, overall, it is a great podcast even if the bias against second edition is a little too strong for my taste.
I am looking forward to the podcast revisiting the Abyssals, the Underworld, ghosts, and the Deathlords at a later point, because I think a lot of gems remain to be uncovered.

Hi Jutlander,
I'm glad to hear you stuck with it. Monica and I both loved 2e, but we've definitely been focused on the negative aspects. I think what's going on is we're call out specifically when something negative came out of 2e but not calling out the positive aspects. I'll talk to the rest of the team about how we can adjust on that. We'll be drawing from a lot of 2e content over the next couple tour episodes. (I have a stack of 5 2e books on my desk for reference as I'm working on the show notes for the next episode.)
