  • Finally got my profile approved. Yay.
So I think my handle speaks for itself(no...me, a Zelda fan? Whatever gave you that idea?). I got into Exalted 1e as a result of joining a VtM game way back in 2002 or so...been mainly tabletopping that ever since. In fact, Blaque was the guy who introduced me to Exalted all those years ago. Amusing timing that he posted in here right when I'm finally able to. So hey, big kudos and thanks to him.

Currently, I'm learning the ins and outs of 3e, having to home brew a "2.75" for a game I'm getting started that's primarily Dragon-Blooded, being they're my favorite type(go House V'neef), and in general getting back into Creation after a few years away. I'm pretty sure 3e finally coming out helped that, and very eagerly awaiting the future splits. Especially my Dragon-Blooded.

If nothing else, you should check out Crumplepunch's Clutch of Dragons Homebrew, which provides a healthy amount of options for playing DBs in 3e until the book comes out.

Thank you, and I actually have that thread subscribed to! The hardest thing is we started originally in 2e with ink monkey Errata, and there's a hodgepodge of bits from both old and new. It's being run mainly on RPoL, so mechanics aren't super heavy, but it's still been interesting, especially since I like to run higher power games. I know as I delve more and more into 3e, it'll get easier to work it out down the road, probably when I do a Solar based story group down the road.

        • Hello everyone, my name is Norr, and unfortunately i'm not as consistent as some others on here apparently so this is just one of many usernames i've used since getting online at the age of 11. On the old forums i think my name might have been bootnorr, but it's hard to remember.

I started RPing in highschool when a friend invited me to their online dragon riders of pern rpg, but i started playing tabletop rpg's about when i was 23, so 6 years ago. Since then i have played exalted off and on, as well as 40k rogue trader, star wars edge of the empire, warhammer fantasy rpg, dnd 3.5 and 5th, legend of the five rings, vampire, scion, and a few more that escape me at the moment and a few more i'm starting soon but haven't played yet.
Most of this time has been spent as a player, despite fluff and world building being one of my favorite part of all the games, it has been difficult for me in the past to figure out how to incorporate my fellow players into the story i'm hoping to tell, which is the problem actually since they should be the ones telling the story while i provide the setting lol.

About exalted i would have to say that my favorite thing would be the crafting, which took me so much by surprise since i could not even understand the crafting rules in the previous edition, and i spend a lot of time just thinking about what to craft in game and shooting ideas back and forth with my ST on how to do things. In fact i think most of the posts i made on this forum a ways back before i went ghost again were related to crafting.

as for non game related stuff:
          • i am an educator, having worked with preschool to elementary aged children for the past 7 years and it's something i greatly enjoy and hope to keep doing for a long time.
          • I am a second generation palestinian christian immigrant, my wife is palestinian muslim, and my cultural background and my own peoples struggle has an impact on a lot of a lot of my opinions.
          • I have my undergrad with my areas of study being asian studies, anthropology, and middle east and islamic studies.
          • I'm hoping to pursue masters in education and palestinian studies and inshallah one day a doctorate in conflict resolution studies with a focus on how education can be used to help solve ethnic conflict.
Sorry if it's a bit much about my job in education or my own plans for my education, but my interests are pretty much in the lines of reading, writing, learning, and helping and educating others, with one last thing being that i am also a SJW (Though i prefer social justice bard class) and a socialist, which i only mention because it does effect my game play, in as much as much of a way that my character is currently trying to eliminate poverty, hunger, and al forms of inequality in chiaroscuro, and due to what foxy said:

          • Whoof. Did I really put this off so long?

Welp, I'm Arian Dynas, and before you ask, no, it was an ill-conceived name picked out of a character generation book, not some kind of comment. I've gone by that handle for quite a while now, it was the name of a D&D character I made but never did play, mostly because I was a lonely preteen, and when I did actually get to play D&D as a kid, I was always the DM.

I'm a prospective writer who's just graduated from College, I live in Alaska, and no, it's not really as cold as you'd think. I'm an anthropologist and philosopher, or at least that's what my degree says, and simply put; I freaking love Exalted. I've loved RPGs since I was 5 years old, watching my big brothers sitting at a table, sometimes playing AD&D, sometimes Space-Hulk. I actually got to playing about in middle school. I keep a big ol library of RPG books in my apartment; friends have been concerned that an earthquake may well crush me under falling bookshelves.

I'm also one half of the dev team for an Exalted character generator and manager, Anathema Reincarnated, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

In my case I discovered Exalted through World of Darkness; I'd been reading a Ghenna scenario in which it said one of the possible outcomes would be an "Exalted" like setting. Having a vague frame of reference based on a TV tropes article about "Always Chaotic Evil" demons being justified in setting, I talked it over with the friend I was plotting out this massive Ghenna scenario with, and we figured we'd try Exalted as the result of the players winning the Ghenna scenario. Aaaaaand that was when we first fell down the rabbit hole. I picked up a copy of the 2e manual in a used bookstore and was deeply intrigued; we decided to give it a crack sometime, so I read up, discovered Keychain of Creation, and was pretty well in by this point, but, something was wrong. Basically, Second Edition burned me multiple times on what I saw was a wonderful idea.

It didn't help that at the time I had a friend who was *way* into Second Edition and took everything as gospel; including all of the fluff that John Morke would have termed "Shitdark" so for a while, everything that I got excited for in setting, and mechanics wise, it'd get shot down. This culminated in when I read DotFA, and although I was clinging to a love for it, the magic was gone. Maybe it was a sunk-cost fallacy on my part.

Then I heard about EX3. I read some stuff; I got excited. I started clearing out some old assumptions 2e had engendered in me, then, I read Richard Danksy's Trilogy of the Second Age. The last two books... weren't that good, but the first one... even with a disappointing ending, the book opened my mind again, so many things that were boxed and labelled, forced into specific unchanging roles in my mind about Exalted suddenly burst out again, just because of the way that Exalted's first Dev wrote about it.I started reading 1e books, and suddenly, the magic was back! There wasn't much of it, but everything was so evocative and powerful again and I felt I could grow to love it again that it didn't matter that there wasn't nearly as much of the passion as before.

Then 3e came out, and I loved it; it seemed to be a fulfillment of all of the promises that I'd been given the first time I'd heard the name "Exalted" Something was still missing though... then I read Tales from the Flat Earth, and everything just clicked. Conan, Anime, Western Fantasy, Ghibli Movies, The Bible and bullshit Wuxia Demigods suddenly all crystallized. And now, here I am.

I'll be stomping these forums mostly for the fun of it, and to share a passion with you all, so I'll catch you on the flip side.

Oh and in case anybody knows me from the Bioware Forums, I have a tendency for Walls-O-Text. I'm told I got rather infamous for it there.

Oh and for the people who care about that sort of thing, since I'm an anthropologist, the big reason I love Exalted, especially now, is not just the bullshit Kung-Fu Demigods, but also the deep down verisimilitude of the setting, along with it's kitchen sink tendencies. So being an Anthro, my political leanings tend toward the egalitarian, liberal, and generally treating everyone with compassion. For those of you who care to know that sort of thing, as I said.

            • Hello I am Smasmaster. (or just Smas…it was a catchy and unique name that fit and just caught on over time)

I have been playing tabletop RPGs since my first cleric in the D&D Red Box in Fourth Grade. From there it was the various Palladium games (TMNT, Robotech, their fantasy setting, Rifts, so on and so forth)…then, later on, it was Shadowrun Second Edition…and then back to D&D 4th, 5th, and a very healthy dose of Pathfinder. (Currently playing a wizard in a Kingmaker game that has been running for just over three years now).

(Warning I am fond of using lots of parenthesis and ellipses in my writing...ENGLISH GRAMMAR BE DAMNED)

I have been a collector of various RPGs over the years of games I games I would love to play but never got a chance to (see Nobilis, The One Ring, and a long list of others). Exalted was one of these games…I love, love, love the setting and idea that the PCs are uber powerful and can change the world…that aspect which I feel was unique to all Role Playing Games at the time it came out. I love the different types of Exalted and how they interact and their flavors.

I, unfortunately, had to sell my whole Exalted 2nd Edition collection years ago (family needs > gaming)…when I thought i would never get to play. And then while lurking on RPG.net I discovered the absolutely amazingly well played and written story “Ten Thousand Broken Dreams” …and I got the itch again. But could not find a group a the time…and let it pass.

And now recently when I heard that the 3rd edition was out and developed by the very author and GM of that amazing story who has a presence on these very boards..so I revisited the story on RPG.net again…and now have the itch once more.

Things had changed in my life since those last few times and now I may…have some potential players for my own story of Exalted…although I would love to play in a group (and if anyone has a space available via Roll20 or some online method for a player I would be interested.) So I hope to plan on participating here and hopefully running Exalted in some way shape or form in the near future.

I live in Ohio. I am a father of two future players of RPGs…married to a woman I converted into a gamer for over twenty years now. I am a Biomedical Data Analyst by trade…with a liberal arts degree in Political Science and History. I play the Viola, I love music and have a very eclectic taste in it. I read lots, play computer and Xbox games (right now it is Starcraft 2 Coop with my son), watch various sci fi shows and movies (Dr. Who, Star Wars in all of its incarnations, Steven Universe, and the Expanse..the list goes on), I am a die-hard National Hockey League fan and write quite a bit…mainly back and forth RP emailing with friends and some of my own fantasy stories, and drink lots of wine.

              • Huzzah, I am approved!

Anyway, I am Voyd. I'm a complete and total geekazoid.

I'm relatively new to tabletop games (I only started playing two or three years ago, and Pathfinder is still the only one I've played), but I'm very eager to try a few new ones... namely Exalted.

I've been reading, watching movies, and playing video games as long as I can remember.

As far as Exalted, uh... all of the sources I have access to are for 2E, so that's what I'm mostly interested in discussing.

                • Greetings, I am Ben, feel free to stick to the forum name though. Aside from my forum name, I've been known as Rykon, Grifnir, Renost, Berdain, and a number of other names on the internet. I was born and raised in Tennessee and currently approaching my late 20s.

Additional context for those interested... I've earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, and Finance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am currently working as a contracted Software Engineer in the energy industry by day. I've also started an online business that I build up in the evenings and on weekends, in an effort to help out the family as my parent's (and my own) retirement prospects seem dim.

I got introduced to Exalted at what I believe was the very end of 2E by a classmate and dear friend that was running a game of Deadlands on campus. Ever since I've been helplessly enthralled by the game, to the extent that other white wolf properties fail to sell me on spending the time with them in spite of their charm. Picking a favorite splat is very difficult for me, but at the moment I am most excited about Dragon-Blooded seeing how it's the one I've never gotten close to playing. So far my most memorable characters are 2 different Eclipse castes, a Zenith caste, and a Journey's Sidereal.

Outside of Exalted, I've been blessed with a group that's running a whole host of different pen and paper games. However, video games are my primary hobby. My favorite genres are Adventure and Role Playing with a bit of an aversion to FPS games and MOBAs. Non-gaming hobbies include anime, manga, and leisurely sketching.

                  • Hello. New to the forum and only semi new to exalted. I first played 2nd ed back in 2011 or so and had a lot of fun (Night caste merchant who wanted to command the guild). Now I am running a 3rd ed game over skype and taking them all over the place. I am hoping to get some advice on custom stuff, like artifacts, custom charms and even combos.

                    • Hi. My name is Dexter though my screen name or Dex will suffice. Call me what you want. I am a soon to be college student from Florida who wants to get into video game design (though the revelations from games like Exalted and Shadowrun may possibly change my aspirations).

I'm a happy addition to the Exalted gaming community by only about 2 years meaning I really only learned of the game as 3E was getting pushed. I have been into tabletop gaming for an only marginally longer time of about 3 years. It started with a friend dragging me into his homebrew RPG and then another player introduced me to Exalted and the Eastern and Wuxia nature of the game pulled me in like a black hole. I also have thought of playing aShadowrun campaign but have not had a chance to yet. Lunars are probably my favorite splat with the Sidereals and Abyssals quickly following. I don't particularly find the Solars an interesting group but then again, I've never played a Solar and this may possibly skew my view of many aspects of the game. I have played in two games of Exalted. One, a heavily homebrewed edition of 2E that ended in disaster due to player infighting. I am now playing a 2.5 series where we keep more to the book and we're a bit better for it. I am planning a one-shot game of 3E though (probably a foolish idea, but I dare to attempt it anyways) and may or may not request help from the forums when stymied.

I as a person I am a bit dull and it may take me a bit to understand an introduced idea or concept. As such I may occasionally ask for something to be broken down to me. I've also never played an offline game so that may color my perceptions a bit differently.

                      • I'm Tytalus.

I got into RPGs at the tender age of 12 with Steve Jackson's Advanced Fighting Fantasy books "Dungeoneer", "Blacksand" and "Titan". I loved those books and used them until they were shredded. I moved on to Ars Magic and V:tM for a number of years before picking up Mage:the Sorceror's Crusade, and then Mage:the Ascension.

In the Summer of 2003 I discovered Exalted and it's been a long on again off again love hate relationship where I keep coming back no matter how much I'm abused. :P

                        • Hi I'm Nightshrike,

Long-time lurker, now occasional poster. I picked up First Ed just over 10 years ago but never got to play it. Now I share storytelling duties in a semi-regular game that's been running for about 5 years on and off. We started playing on Second Ed and have since upgraded to Third.

The lore of exalted has always been the biggest drawing point for me. I first started tabletop playing V:TM with friends in high school and I got hooked on the idea of Exalted being the pre-history of oWoD.

The last thing to mention is that I hail from that great land Down Under. So, if you reply to me and I don't answer I'm not being rude, just being asleep.

                          • So, not sure if anyone reads these things but making sure I say hi before jumping into things seems right and proper

I'm andrix, lurked for years and managed to hold off on making an account, probably because I'm not sure I've had anything worth saying. I'm a member of Lioness' gaming group however, including being a player in her long running game, and between them they've peer pressured me into signing up to add to the volume of art and stories that gets shared around. So she's entirely liable for me. I also run a weekly game for the same group with some (most?) of the player characters already shared on here.

I've been playing since way back in 1e when all we had was a corebook and storytellers guide, played pretty frequently through the majority of 2e and was a playtester for 3e. While most of my playtime is online I've also got a small RL group which has a semi-frequent D&D 5e game and spend more money than they should on MTG

I'm another mostly-lurking type but I'm trying to break free of the conditioned response that the Exalted forums are a scary, scary place. I got my start to Exalted in 2nd ed, but I just got EX3 a couple of weeks ago and I'm still nosing my way through it.

My name, of course, is a tribute to a character I played on an Exalted chat a number of years ago who happened to be a God-blooded dog (I don't think Scroll of Heroes is speaking to me after what I put it through to make that work). On a completely unrelated note, I am patiently awaiting Exigents.

Another lurker trying to become more social. I'm a swedish hotel worker with too much spare time and way to active of an imagination. Having spent more time than I'd like to admit on moderation free parts of the internet I am trying my bet to be polite and constructive and not yell obscenities at people. I enjoy discussions, logical conclusions and breaking RPG systems and then fixing them, also known as house-ruling.

Roleplaying wise I am of the opinion that a well understood system is never a limitation to narrative elements and that any good system can simulate everything with a competent ST at the head of it. The most important aspects are fun, immersion and challenge, in that order. My characters tend to the violent sort, but are almost always the last to resort to violence. Figuring out peaceful resolutions and compromises at first and encouraging political shenanigans as a second. Wholesale slaughter as a third. It's always good to have a backup.

I am looking forwad to lunars, dragon-blooded and infernals. I enjoy making typical antagonists into heroes.

As a storyteller I am a world builder. I craft settings in the empty spaces between fluff and make something of my own among the old. My campaigns are long, needlessly complicated and very sandbox. The players are the primary agents of change, and this is why I love exalted.
