  • "Coyote"

So my understanding is that the figure generally referred to as Coyote is really a conflation of several figures from a few different cultural groups. Would anyone mind explaining the details of that to me, and who these distinct figures were? Also, specifically, what is the name of the Navajo one?

I remember John's Scion Resources having an informative post on the topic.

When they get around to Coyote, they MUST include Hospoa of the Hopi.

I really hope we get a Kachina (Hopi/Puebloan) Pantheon with strong overlap and history of conflict with the Diyin Dine'e (Navajo/Apachean).

The Navajo also have an older entity called (in the rather old source I found, so maybe grain of salt it) All-Wise-Coyote-Who-Was-Formed-in-the-Water. They're entirely separate and distinct entites, with AWCWwFitW being a more order-focused in a "helping First Man and First Woman set the sun and moon in place" kind of way, as opposed to the more traditionally tricksterish First Angry.

Thanks for all the info! The JSR post was pretty much exactly the information I was asking for.
