  • Ainu Mythology Sources

I am looking for sources of Ainu mythology. A google search doesn't yield much. That or my google fu is weak.

Any good websites or books I could look into?

    thanks in advance.

While I'm good with the Japanese, I'm surprisingly clueless regarding the Ainu (shame on me), but I know that this is the resource on Ainu mythology, a project for the non-academic translation of Ainu oral literature: http://www.okikirmui.com/project-okikirmui/
Furthermore, look into Michael Ashkenazi's Handbook of Japanese Mythology, it contains short portraits of all the major Ainu deities and suggestions for further reading.

Nice to see I'm not the only person interested in the Kamuy.

This is admittedly not the best, or most academic, source in the world, but it gives a fairly decent overview of the primary deities (if you can stomach the blogger's politics). It makes a good starting point, but I suggest digging deeper if you want to do anything serious with this pantheon.

Thanks. I had come across this one. The politics not withstanding ( Ihadn't even noticed those subheadings luckily), something did feel off.
