    Other Media Inspirations for Scion

What are some of your thoughts for shows, movies, comics, etc. that feel like a good fit for conversion to Scion or could easily be a Scion story already?

I am reading Origins and Hilda comes to mind. Hilda could easily be the scion of a currently unnamed Aesir or Vanir father. She explores a world much like our own but where the supernatural is present and regarded as real. Trolls, thunder bird mistaken as the herald of Odin, wood spirits, and giants lurk in the edges. Her two friends could be fated boon companions while the Witch in the library and Alfur, the elven observer, are her guides.

It fits better than it probably should and I like the idea.

Check out the graphic novel series 'Wayward' by Jim Zub. A must.

Everybody mentions 'Sandman' by Gaiman (rightfully so), but as good are the series 'The Books of Magic' by John Ney Rieber and 'Lucifer' by Mike Carey. Both are spin-offs but each rise to their own.

BTW, The 'Lucifer' TV show has NOTHING to do with the comic. Sadly...

    Cheers,

    Ken

His entire Doom Patrol run was great. I'm hoping it's possible to do something like Danny the Street in Scion. (Also Fiddlers' Green from Sandman.)

Flex Mentallo would, I think, make an interesting starting place for the idea of Charles Atlas as a modern god, perhaps part of a pantheon of similar figures. And then something like Luther Strode as one of his Scions.

I played once Part Time Gods, and the concept of the game is really nice, more Superheroic than godlike, maybe because of the way we played, but still...

I would like to try to have a story where all characters are Incarnations of the long lost gods, that for some reason start to popping on earth randomly around the world and learning what they are. There are a few other godlings rising, but none of them are on God level, maybe Demigods still. And the monsters are popping up around too, but not as incarnations, maybe by the act of the Titans or something.

The final idea is to discover how the gods died and why they are reborn, maybe to avoid the same fate or to repeat so the world live for one more circle.

Well, I meant using them as inspiration for standard Scion characters spawned by real world gods. But I'd love to see Alicorn Patrons. (Luna is one of my three favorite characters, for a number of reasons.)

I'm also wondering if I can do it with He-Man, Streetfighter, GIJoe, MLP, Sailor Moon, and Jem.

Because I am weird, even by nerd standards.

Supernatural TV series, American Gods and Tomb Raider franchise ( classical, not 2013 reboot ) are my my main inspirations for Origin Tier in Scion. On Tomb Raider we have whole separate topic. On American Gods inspirations also. And on American Gods as template for running Scion game separated ( with New Gods and all the weird of book world ).

I don’t think Lucifer is a incarnated Scion. He is more likely an Avatar (I think he is the Angel physically made, not an avatar as he left his position in Hell to be in Earth) than an incarnation. Most of the incarnations have little to no knowledge or memories of their old incarnations at least in the beguinning. Lucifer and all the others are full aware of their lives from the time they step earth.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey DLC Fate of Atlantis seems as fun inspiration for Theoi Scions.

Is it me, or Gods from Pantheons can be run more or less like System Lords from Stargate-SG1?
