  • Grapple - Pin Stunt

    A quick Scion question please.

With the Grappling Pin stunt. Does the Defense still default to 1?

Pin (2s): Deny opponent their Defense against all other attacks. Must be in control to initiate.

    Thanks

It’s unclear on Scion, in Trinity it’s better written as “you can’t take any physical action other than grappling” or something like that.
I would say you “Deny opponents their Defence roll”, so the defence is still 1. Also I would put a complication to hurt one and both other when both are grappled.

The proper answer to “Hello There” is, obviously, “General Kenobi”.

This is the text I am planning on using for just the pin Stunt.

      Pin/Restrain/Immobilize (2 successes)
Hold in place, Deny opponent their Defense against all other attacks.
Clarification: Deny opponent their Defense pool, as the default Defense of 1 still applies.

Must be in control of the grapple.

See, I didn't read that as "Deny their Defense ROLL" because it doesn't say roll. I read that as "The pinned target's defense is zero", because you're denying them the ability to Defend. Because they're pinned.

Also, antagonists in Scion don't get defense rolls. So there's that.

But I do believe there's a hard floor on difficulty for any roll, and that is 1. So, even if they are denied their Defense, the roll still has a 1 difficulty.

Difficulty 0 means “just don’t botch”... But yes, I would put defense 1 as minimum.

Eh, if the character manages to get a pin down, I'd set it to difficulty 0. Makes for good team combos.
