I have that problem sometimes, too. Shoddy memory.

If I ever need another person to fit into one of my Scion games I'll hit you up, because your concepts are killer.

Disclaimer: I'll huff, grump, and defend my position, but if you're having fun I'll never say you're doing it wrong.

That's a pretty powerful compliment, thank you!

            • I'm thinking of a defense attorney who is well on the way to becoming the god of reasonable doubt. I'm just not sure who he should be a scion of. Something like Horus, Tyr, or Mithra seems too obvious. Maybe Hermes, Vishnu or one of the Celestial Bureaucracy?

What is tolerance? It is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly. That is the first law of nature.

That's just crazy enough to work.

                • A Scion of Fuxi who combines magic and medicine to expand the realm of genetic engineering. He hopes to change the human form, while keeping its spirit intact, thus bringing about the age of trans humanism and self controlled evolution.

A Scion of Damballa who's serves as the sassy, gay friend of his respective band. He favors using his well toned, muscular body to charm the pants off his enemies.

A Scion of Yama who's cynical world view inadvertently lead to a sarcastic sense of humor. Aside from giving dry quips to friend and foe alike, he casually strolls into battle against the forces of the Titans, once they start causing trouble.

                  • All his life, Alex "Shortlegs" Ostlund has struggled with the physical limitations of dwarfism. Only to find out that he's an actual dwarf; well, half dwarf, actually. It's complicated, but at least he isn't turning to stone in the sun or some crazy stuff like that! On the eve of his 16th birthday, he received a visit from Tyr, claiming to be his grandfather. The visitation came with many nifty perks that enabled him to manage his condition more easily, which Alex is grateful for. Unfortunately, it did nothing to fix his size, leaving him the butt of several running jokes among the rest of the Norse pantheon. That's okay, though, because "Shortlegs" has found a source of inspiration in Tyr, who knows what it's like to live with physical impairments. And he's determined to show all the "Longlegs" what a divinely empowered little person is capable of!

                    • The reincarnation of Mongan ap Fiachna, the son of Manannan mac Lir. Like his former incarnation he was conceived upon his mortal mother in exchange for saving the life of someone she held dear. However in a odd twist the one saved was the character himself who was born without the breath of life. Manannan thus breathed the soul of his most famous scion into the infant's body to keep the bargain. Like in his past life the new Mongan is a friend of the sidhe, was taught shape-shifting (through Illusion) and esoteric knowledge (through Mystery). He is looking to become the Tuatha deity of Secrets, Philosophy, and Mysticism.

                      • Okay, wow! It took me way too god damn long to get around to writing this up! I think it was put on the back burner for over a year?

                        --------------------------------

The Rising Stars: Consisting entirely of Greek Scions, the band known as The Rising Stars are a young group of teenagers who still have room to grow not only as agents of divine will, but also people. Despite their youth, the band is constantly on the move and never remains in any one place for more than a couple months if they can help it. This is due in large part to one of their members acting as a bounty hunter who's prey is constantly trying to avoid detection. But sometimes other factors come into play that force them to make a sudden relocation before things get too dangerous.

Over the course of their existence, the band has managed to make themselves the arch rivals of another bunch of Scions calling themselves The Golden Pyramid (who will be posted... eventually). Consisting entirely of Egyptian related Scions, the pyramid have clashed with The Rising Stars on several occasions, and it seems Fate conspires to arrange many more encounters in the foreseeable future.

                        ----------------------------------------------

Cooper Cross, Scion of Hades: Only 16 years of age and already has a steady means of income. Cooper was assigned the position of bounty hunter for the Underworld and much of his time as a Scion is spent tracking down the escapees from Tartarus and sending them back to prison. This duty often dictates where his band travels to next, but Cooper is not opposed to taking detours if his fellow Scions have personal business of their own to deal with. It's not as if Hades gave him a time limit for bringing down wanted criminals. Before his visitation, Cooper was a completely normal high school student and knew nothing of the existence of the supernatural. But when a cyclops killed his mortal parents while he was returning home from school, Hades decided to intervene.

It was during this mission that he met Samantha and the two of them worked together to bring down the target. The cyclops had turned an entire youth center worth of boys into his thralls and it was now a bigger job than just facing one enemy. Afterwards, Samantha insisted on training him to be a more competent Scion. They've been having mandatory training sessions every week from then on.

Cooper's relics include a yet unnamed kama who's handle is fashioned out of human bone and who's blade is composed of black iron. The kama allows him to channel the Death and Darkess purviews. He also carries a magically updating bounty list, which provides him with a rap sheet about his current targets.

                        -------------------------------------------------

Samantha Joves, Scion of Zeus: The mirror opposite of Cooper in both gender and upbringing. Samantha's mother was a member of one of Zeus' cults, who raised her practically from birth in preparation for her life as a Scion. At 18 years of age, she is now a highly capable warrior who can trade blows with giants as long as its a fair fight. Unfortunately, her divine father has drawn the ire of Hera, who has gone out of her way to make Samantha's life a living hell. Through Hera's machinations, Samantha was subdued and captured by a brutish cyclops, who planned to keep her as a personal slave. He bound her in chains that were magically forged specifically for her, making it impossible for Samantha to break free on her own.

Fortunately, this was the very same cyclops that Cooper had been hunting, and the brand new Scion used his kama to shatter her magically forged shackles. After a pitched battle, they managed to bring down the one eyed giant and his small army of thralls. With their work completed, Samantha became Cooper's mentor once she realized how fresh off the bus he was. Later, Samantha became the defacto leader of their growing band, as she is the most well trained in the ways of being a child of the Gods.

Samantha carries a roman spatha, which enables her to channel the Justice purview. It also adds +1L, +1 Acc and +1 Def and -1 Speed to the Spatha template. She affectionately refers to this weapon by the name of 'Niki,' which roughly translates to 'victory' in Greek.

                        --------------------------------------------------------

Rocco Wooten, Scion of Apollo: Serving as public relations manager wasn't the gig Rocco was expecting to find himself in when he discovered his Scion heritage. A 17 year old teen idol with an acting career , Rocco is accustomed to having other people clean up for his own mistakes, not the other way around. But as it stands, Rocco's the only member in the band (aside from Albert) who knows how to work the crowd. So when bashing your enemy over the head isn't a viable solution, Rocco uses his silver tongue and charming good looks to persuade, seduce or outright manipulate others into getting what they need.

Rocco is the third member to join the band and was recruited during a trip to Hollywood. At the time, Cooper and Samantha were hunting a pair of bouda siblings who were marked for capture on Cooper's bounty list. Rocco proved instrumental in locating, baiting and eventually trapping the shapeshifting duo, for they had been planning to assassinate him. After sending them back to Tartarus where they belonged, Cooper suggested inviting Rocco to join them, which Samantha agreed to do.

Apollo has granted Rocco with a pair of movie star glasses that allows him to channel the Sun Purview as long as he's wearing them. He also has access to an enchanted screen play which allows him to channel the Prophecy purview when reading through it.

                        ---------------------------------------------------

Felicia Booth, Scion of Poseidon: The raw powerhouse of the band, Felicia is the girl they turn to when they aren't concerned about the collateral damage left over from their battles. She is 19 years of age and grew up on a farm in the state of Georgia. Her hobbies include mud wrestling and bull riding, both of which have contributed to making her a tough as nails combatant.

Felicia was the fourth member to join the band, only agreeing to do so if the others could match her in a competition of skill at her two favorite hobbies. Despite putting up an impressive effort, Samantha was not able to beat Felicia's record on bull riding and was tossed to the ground by the ornery beast. When it came time for the mud wrestle challenge, Samantha just barely managed to get the upper hand thanks to her superior combat experience. Despite one loss and a barely achieved win, Felicia decided their performance was satisfactory enough to earn her respect. She proceeded to join them with the offer of a mud encrusted handshake.

Originally just a set of work clothes, Felicia's trademark denim overalls have been divinely empowered by Poseidon's blessings, granting her access to both the Earth and the Animal (Cow / Bull) purviews, while adding +2L / +1B to the leather armor's soak template. As the only member of the band with access to an elemental power, Felicia is able to manipulate the environment in ways the rest of her team can not.

                        ----------------------------------------------------

Albert Stricker, Scion of Hermes: The youngest member of the band in both age and chronological order. Having just recently turned 14 years old, Albert was living on the streets of Germany, where he taught himself slight of hand parlor tricks in order to con people out of their money. He received his visitation through second hand account, and thus doesn't have a very good relationship with his divine father, whom he feels didn't care enough about his well being to check in on him. It would be a stretch to say that he's an 'expert' on magic, but Albert is more qualified for the position than anybody else on the team.

Since awakening as a Scion, Albert's street magic has been radically improved to the point where even an experienced mortal can't see through his trickery without supernatural awareness. The first time he met his current band, he managed to rob them blind, prompting a chase scene in which they just barely managed to corner him. After realizing what he was and discovering the fact he was living on the streets, Samantha invited him to join up with them, which Albert hesitantly agreed to.

In true street magician fashion, Albert carries a pack of playing cards with him at all times. The cards allow him to channel the Magic purview. The cards also possess a unique power that allows Albert to instantly summon them to any location within his line of sight (or that he has a clear, mental image of), allowing him to perform tricks that are impossible for any mundane audiences to figure out.

                        • This one didn't take nearly as long.

                          ----------------------------------------

The Golden Pyramid: Arch rivals and primary antagonists to The Rising Stars, the band known as The Golden Pyramid mirrors their nemeses by being entirely composed of Scions from the Egyptian pantheon. In contrast to their rivals, most of the band's members have also reached adulthood (or close to it), as opposed to being a bunch of teenagers. While they are not strictly evil, their primary mission is to advance the power of their respective pantheon by any means necessary. They do not seem particularly concerned with who gets caught up in their machinations, believing that at the end of the day, their actions served the greater good.

Perhaps it is no surprise then that The Golden Pyramid maintains a large collection of followers and mentors to aid them in their operations. Indeed, the band appears to have an entire organization centered around helping them achieve their goals. It is for this reason that The Golden Pyramid has yet to be fully stamped out by the other pantheons who've become aggravated by their interference with their plans. In a fair fight, it's possible that other Scions might be able to take them down. But when you've got a bunch of Scions reinforced by a security detail of heavily armed guards with orders of 'shoot to kill', the scales begin to tip to one side over the other.

Despite being classified as a band, most of their enemies will only encounter 2 or 3 members at a time. This is because at least two within The Golden Pyramid delegate themselves to a more hands off approach to achieving their goals. Kafele and Rosa enter the field only when they have little choice in the matter, and instead prefer to give advice / orders from a safely guarded location. This might change in the future as the band finds itself faced with more serious challenges that compel them to gather their forces together.

                          ------------------------------------------------------

Kafele Moghadam, Scion of Osiris: Founder of The Golden Pyramid and its physically oldest member, Kafele is a 46 year old pure blooded Egyptian who handles the band's secret financial expenses, such as the acquisition of soldiers and weapons, the disposing of evidence, and pretty much anything else that you wouldn't want showing up on a legitimate business record. Being an underworld broker has made him stupidly wealthy over the years, but not nearly as much as the investments he made following his visitation.

Because Kafele rarely takes a hands on approach to battle, even the members of The Golden Pyramid do not know the full depths of Kafele's power. In truth, Kafele is on the verge of Demigod status, if he has not already obtained it. He considers engaging mortals to be little more than petty squabbling, and instead focuses his attentions on more otherwordly threats. In the eyes of the public, Kafele is an entrepreneur who owns a chain of manufactures, shipping companies, private universities and historical museums. The exhibits in said museums are all forged replicates of actual relics, however. The real things have been smuggled back to the Egyptian Overworld for safe keeping.

Although he doesn't like fighting mortals, Kafele is not completely defenseless. Osiris has bestowed him with a golden ring embedded with a large, ebony stone which allows him to summon a replenishing pack of up to 20 Mummies at will. In addition, he is accompanied at all times by a team of 15 elite mercenaries who offer a more public means of security than reanimating the dead. Finally, when he absolutely has to throw down, he wields a khopesh (Gatekeeper) which allows him to channel the Death and Justice purviews and adds +3 Def to the khopesh template.

                          ------------------------------------------------------

Jake Almasi, Scion of Set: fearless archaeologist and head of The Golden Pyramid's acquisitions department. At 30 years old, this half Egyptian immigrant has reached an astonishing level of success in the short time he's been in business. The man is fluent in just about any dead language you can think of, and has traveled all over the world in search of lost or hidden treasures and uncharted landscapes. He is also a teacher at one of Kafele's private universities, which is where he met his partner, Caitlin who now assists him on his field research.

As a Scion, Jake Almasi plays the role of a villain straight out of likes of Tomb Raider, or Uncharted. He is constantly traveling around the globe with enough guards to constitute a private militia as he explores dangerous ruins and lost civilizations. He is also quite willing to threaten and kill other archaeological teams in order to keep them from getting their hands on the treasure first. Of course, the fact that such crimes occur half way across the world and in the middle of nowhere means that there is little chance of Mr. Almasi being convicted of such allegations.

With his visitation, Set granted Jake an enchanted machete (the Seeking Sword) which allows him to channel the Guardian purview. It also adds +2L and -2 Speed to the Machete template, which makes it invaluable when exploring dense vegetation. He also has access to 15 grunt level soldiers who personally accompany him during his archaeological travels.

                          ---------------------------------------------------

Rosa Page , Scion of Thoth: every band should have its own magician; it's a necessity when you're dealing with supernatural threats from the mythic age of human history. And at 31 years old, Rosa is one of the best in her field of expertise. Raised by one of her father's cults, Rosa is fluent in ancient Egyptian, and has been able to translate many of their spells into modern English. When she's not working for Kafele, Rosa can be found managing a hobby shop, which specifically deals with objects of the occult. The store is protected by special magics, ensuring that ordinary mortals completely ignore its existence, and thus reduces the chance of her merchandise falling into the wrong hands.

As a member of The Golden Pyramid, Rosa is primarily tasked with addressing the magic related concerns that emerge from time to time. If they need to bypass a ward, subude a monster, decipher a ritual or appraise a relic, she's the one with the know how. Of course, being one of the most valuable members on the team means that Kefele is no more comfortable putting her life in danger than his own, so she is usually contacted via long distance communication unless there is an emergency which requires her to make a personal appearance.

Since her visitation, Thoth has bestowed his magically inclined daughter with a number of powerful birthrights. The most prominent of which is her hardback copy of the Book of Thoth, which affords her access to the Animal, Earth, Magic and Sky purviews, as well as dissuades thieves by killing one of their loved ones every week until the book is returned to her. But her most favorite birthright is the Benu amulet, which she frequently uses for taking joy rides through the open skies.

                          ---------------------------------------------------

Caitlin Stone, Scion of Geb: personal assistant to Jake Almasi, and the fourth member to join The Golden Pyramid. Caitlin is a 21 year old explorer who first met Jake a few years ago before graduating from the university he was teaching at. Upon discovering they both shared a similar heritage to one another, he offered her the chance to work alongside him directly, to which she accepted the offer. Caitlin has been traveling all over the world with him ever since, and their involvement with one another has sparked more than a few rumors as to the status of their relationship.

Don't let the assistant position fool you, Caitlyn is every bit as capable and determined as Jake is when it comes to upholding the band's ideals. When she's on the job, she's got a personality like granite, having no tolerance for either interference from her enemies, nor incompetence from her allies. It is said that even her own guards are nervous to be around her when she's in a bad mood, as she's been known to shoot people for their stupidity before!

While working for The Golden Pyramid, Caitlin always carries two relics on her person. The first is a rock climber's pick called Excavator, which allows her to channel the Earth and Health purviews while using the Kama template in battle. The second is a custom made pistol which adds +2 Acc to the Desert Eagle template and never needs to reload. Finally, Caitlin is usually accompanied by a personal security team who are equivalent to 10 grunt soldiers whenever she goes exploring.

                          --------------------------------------------------------

Isaac Mercer , Scion of Sobek: a former member of the U.S army, Isaac now serves The Golden Pyramid as their chief of security. At 26 years old, he was recruited into the band shortly after his second tour of duty had ended. It is not known how Kafele discovered Isaac's heritage, much less his existence, but the most likely reason is the gods themselves told him to seek Isaac out. Isaac received his visitation while serving over seas in the middle east. It was during this experience that he decided not to enlist for a third tour so that he could reevaluate his life.

Since joining The Golden Pyramid, Isaac has become their strongman. When they need muscle power to solve a problem, he's the guy they turn to. He's served in two tours on the army's front lines and has more direct combat training than anyone else in the group. Unfortunately, he's not much good at anything else, when you consider the rest of the band is composed of intellectuals and history buffs. Such an environment might frustrate a normal man, but Isaac is accustomed to following orders, so he sets his personal feelings aside for the sake of the mission.

As a militant Scion, Isaac Mercer wields two prominent birthrights. The first is his beloved AK-47, which adds +2 Acc, -3 Speed to the standard template. The second is his Beretta sidearm, which allows him to channel the Animal (elephant) and Water purviews, as well as never runs out of ammo. Finally, Isaac leads a full regiment of 20 grunt soldiers that he can deploy in strategical operations.

                          • A compassionate Scion of Tyr who works as a physician for disabled veterans, helping them overcome their battlefield injuries.

A traitorous Scion of Hades who works in the mining industry. The shafts they dig out serve as axis mundi, through which others may escape the Underworld.

An ambitious Scion of Sobek, who's not content with serving as a background character in somebody else' Legend. They work extra hard to prove their own worthiness and earn the recognition of those around them.

                            • Still working out the details of this one:

Max Roman, Scion of Zeus/Jupiter. Inspired by Marvel's Netflix television series and Jackie Estacado from The Darkness. He was the heir to a mafia empire, but turned from their wicked ways; now he fights a war against crime as a super-powered vigilante.

                              • Here's an idea I've been toying with for a while. Who knows, it might actually be playable in 2E!

A selkie who puts together a team of monsters under the patronage of the Titans, hoping that with the blessings of their masters, they stand a better chance against the children of the Gods.

A vampire who is understandably angry with the Gods for waving her embrace off as an 'acceptable casualty' in order for their Scions to lure out and slay her powerful sire.

A cyclops who voluntarily underwent the transformation process, hoping life as a mythical creature would allow them to act as a proper rival to the accomplishments of their Scion half-sibling.

A kitsune who's trickery has been cultivated into an art form. They are especially passionate when it comes to deceiving the Gods and their children, viewing such manipulative works as part of their 'masterpiece' performance.

A satyr who claims to be the charming face man that allows his band to operate in public. Honestly, though, he's just tagging along for the ride, and views the rest of his band's activities as a source of great amusement.
