  • That cuts close to barring Pentex from being a thing, since it consists of barely-concealed, more or less obvious references to existing businesses, one of which is an obvious stand-in for FOX News.

    • I'm not even remotely close to barring Pentex. Like I said, I tend to change names of PEOPLE. I will occasionally have new and invented businesses (like WW did with Pentex) so I can do the story things that I want to. But I typically draw the line at real world political figures and even celebrities sometimes, particularly if I need the PCs to interact with them somehow. Like I said, I don't keep real world political situations out of play, I just change names and whatever else I need to for the story. Like Law and Order does you know?

      • One of the common themes of many of the game lines is how the supernatural controls politics. The Technocracy, Camarilla, and Pentax are all huge power players in mundane politics. Of course, they also say that some things are just caused by humans too, so it’s a mix.

If I were to include Trump in a WoD game, I think I would it his portrayal reflect reality in a major sense: Trump is a normal guy and not really under anybody’s control. He is a weird candidate that isn’t a pawn of the Camarilla, Pentex, or the Technocracy but they never took him seriously until he won. Kind of like what happened with the real DC establishment. I’d probably say that in the WoD 2020 election that Trump actually did get a substantial majority of the votes but then cheating made it look like he lost.

Of course, even in a fictional world, any way you portray Trump or contemporary politics in general is going to be contentious, so it depends on the players. I probably wouldn’t include Trump in a game with my current circle of gaming friends because at this point we’d all probably rather have a bit of escapism in our RPGs rather than remind us of real issues stressing us out.

        • Donald Trump has, incidentally, already been written into a Kult: Divinity Lost scenario: And the Rocket’s Red Glare.

The World of Warcraft is welcome to him, but I'd prefer to not try to feed conspiracy theories like that, particularly when it comes to former presidents not living in reality.

It's not really doable to escape like that in Werewolf. Even if you polish off the serial numbers, the existential environmental and social issues are still there, looming on the horizon and spitting out banes in addition to their real world effects. Meanwhile, a good-sized cross-section of characters are born to endangered species, sometimes incredibly endangered species, and would realistically be likely to be suffering PTSD before gribbly monsters even show their heads on account of how their lives are very far from any notion of safe.

            • My ongoing Werewolf game started in 2015 and we started the in-game date in October of that month. Due to a day-to-day play style and lots of time between sessions we are now up to May 2016. The election is proceeding as it did in reality, and I have Trump as a Silver Fang kinfolk. The characters do not know this. They recently discovered that there is a network of corrupted SF kin coordinating nastiness. They might have made the connection but the Silver Fangs at their Sept took it upon themselves to purge this corruption fro their tribe. They went off on a quest to hunt down every corrupted kin they could identify and, barring character intervention, this is going to end poorly.

Still, it is designed to be background material showing the devolving state of the world as it spirals towards the apocalypse. I know it it may not be everyone's cup of tea but it works well for our group.

                • Canonically, Donald is clearly a mundane human because the President is always one according to Project: Twilight. I say this as someone who had Fred Trump as a 12th generation Ventrue.
