  • Slasher in OWOD

I plan on STing a Slasher game but based in the OWOD cosmology and the old system mechanics. I know I'm going to have to do a lot of "translating" or "converting" on my own since there is no published translation guide for Hunter yet. Does anyone have any pointers, advice, guidance?

I probably can ask Mr. Gone to make a converted Slasher sheet in the OWOD template.... and.... is there already something similar to a Slasher in any of the Hunter the Reckoning books? If so which one?

    Thank you.

Demon-taken Imbued, Waywards, and not from H:tR, but Werewolf, there's a type of fomor that resembles literal horror movie slashers, known as the gorehound.

And with BotW20th, the Gorehound now comes in two delicious flavors- the original BotW one is more like a Brute from WoD: Slashers, and the Take Two version in 20th has a lot in common with the trap-building Genius.

Hm, I think Imbued are immune to possession, so they can neither be Devil-Eaten or Possessed. I think that a good base for a Slasher would be Metis BSD who possesses the Merit of Silver Tolerance, a variant of the Banned Transformation Flaw that prevent him from maintaining or taking his breed form when he is around normal humans, even when Incapacitated (which would probably be a 6 point Flaw). You get the Garou Regeneration, the ability to soak every source of damage, and the Slasher can take Glabro form to be more impressive.

See thats what I'm talking about right there. I just need to convince my players to use a Fomori template instead of Slashers, they want a Slasher template converted to an OWOD form.

Yeah, rather than getting tied up in translating precise crunchy details from one system to another, I would focus on creating a killer that 'feels' like one of the original undertakings. Do you know what kind of slashers they want to play? Fomori powers are great at portraying various freaks/mutants, and there are specific powers that could make a killer behave like a convincing charmer/psycho.

That is a good option. I would suggest having them flip through Possessed and tell them that they will be playing Fomori. A proper Slasher would have a permanent Autonomy of 5 and a minimum of 10 Power Points of Taints, which would give them 35 Power Points to spend. You can create Fomori that can go toe-to-toe with practically anything in cWoD with 35 Power Points.

any ideas, for a way in which gorehounds are different from slashers? beyond slasher being goaded by evil spirits?

The gorehounds of cWoD are a lot tougher than the slashers of nWoD (and the difference becomes even more pronounced if you use Possessed). Imagine a slasher that is capable of traveling through the Penumbra to circumvent the protections of their potential victims.

Fomori only exist on our side of the Gauntlet (unless they have some ability to cross over) and spirits generally do not risk their own essence in order to fight fleshy foes directly. It could happen, I guess, but the circumstances would likely be bizarre.

so a more likely result would be a pack getting a tip

Not really that bizarre - the Malfean Nephandi or Wyrmish Sorcerors could put or escort the Fomor through the Umbra.

That hardly strikes me as a 'typical' case. Most Banes possess hosts in order to wreak havoc on the other side of the Gauntlet. Going through the trouble of indwelling a mortal only to be yanked back onto the other side seems odd.

If I were a Wyrm-sorcerer, it seems like a pretty round-about way of making a warrior minion. Again, not impossible, just strange.
Also, not sure the Fomori in question could even pose a direct threat to a spirit. The weapons of a Gorehound are still pretty much just physical blades, which won't do much unless the spirit has manifested in the physical world. In the umbra, a Gorehound/Slasher type Fomori would be kinda useless.
