  • Colony Ships under the complete control of Supernaturals.

So I'm binging on Isaac Arthur and I started thinking what about discussing Colony ship scenarios for each type of supernatural? Not the supernatural was smuggling aboard, but that they were in charge of the Colony ship either saving a portion of themselves and humanity after the Apocalypse destroyed Gaia, or maybe Supernaturals secretly creating colony ships, maybe depending on the supernaturals a decade ahead of normal humanity. I think this would be a hella cool discussion!

So what do you think the groundworks should be? Like the basic assumption should be Fusion is an established tech, anything else? Maybe no Faster then Light unless the Supernaturals could provide it, so stick close to what is possible with normal science?

So for the Garou Colony ship, what about some sort of Gaia Seed/Egg type of Artifact or even baby Incarna/Spirit that they can plant on a world. It would create a Caern at the spot its seeded. The entire crew could start off as Kinfolk so it would mean the new humanity would have a much higher chance of Shifter breeding true to make up for their numbers being smashed. You could use simple fetishes to provide clean pure water, that infinite water skin for instance, and you could develop new fetishes like maybe a Fetish Solar Panels that amplify the energy (maybe a Mirror or Helios spirit tied to them). And Spirit magic could probably make insane shortcuts, even Umbral Wormhole Travel thus shooting this Colonies Destination far beyond where other Earth Based Colonies would have access too. Maybe they would even revise the Litany, though you use the same just assume Humanity knows of the Garou/Fera but their workings are secrets to them, somewhat like the Pure Tribes must have had for some of their kinfolk.

Mage... well yeah jesus this could be crazy depending on the mage groups, like the Taftani could establish Themselves as Godkings shipping Djinn with them to terraform a world. And the Technocracy in an apocalypse scenario could end up boosting the timetable up a century. With crew that now believe in the impossible thanks to the Apocalypse they could do virtually anything, and the new world could rebuild to comparable levels possibly hella quick.

Vampire could be fun! The clans could finally view themselves as free of the Antediluvians, though maybe some snuck aboard, looking at you Absimiliard! They would likely be the slowest vessels having the least overtly magical shortcuts. Or they would need Methuselah level Celerity/Temporis possibly combo'ed with Sorcery to boost speed. Crazier Colonies could try to even make a whole colony of Revenants! You could even take some shortcuts in ship design for oxygenless chambers for kindred crew/pilots.

Wraith would be wonky too, we need more on Ghosts in... SPAAAAAAaaaaceee... But it could be something like a army of wraiths tagging onto an emergency colony trying to help keep it from failing, could be interesting a Wraith game tied to new life and second chances.

Changeling Colony Ships would be one of the most fun! Shortcuts in the Dreaming, thousands of Enchanted Crewmates. What happens when the entire human race descends from Kinain?! They could have the best short cuts up there with Mage and Werewolf. Unleashing is Nuts, but also risky. But damn you could pull off some very helpful tricks particularly with growing new life.

Demon would be interesting as well a Colony ship would drastically differ based on the Faction! The Faustians could achieve their goal rather well with a colony. A whole colony of contracted humans yikes we really need revised contract rules to handle the overflow of many contracts. They have Lore which could make mage shortcuts seem like childsplay maybe. They already have rituals that can create pocket world, so they could sneak something like whole islands, cities or countries worth in Colony ships. And very insane teleportation or Pathway tricks.

Hunter... umm they could end up being tyrannical since they can be pretty insane... but they do have healing powers, and in a calm atmosphere they could actually improve themselves to be more then joe average, getting the equivalent of the best training in the world. Maybe they end up fighting off alien spirits.

And Evil Colony Ships! So Baali transporting Children Sarcophagi to maybe even being reborn on dead worlds, enslaving all of humanity with their blood. Tzmisce flesh cabins. Black Spiral Super Mir Space Ships.

Psychics, they could end up with benefits for navigating like with Dune, but with basic science they would not be boosting the efforts by a lot, besides telekinesis outside while within the hull. Ohhh but what about the entire Crew of Thousands being Psychics?! The next step in humanity could usher in a species of psychics?!

Sorcerer Ships could be interesting, low general level but insane when they are put in charge of all the crew of thousands. Lots of little tricks. But if you had it the Sorcerers started training everyone in basic Sorcery, or Enlightened Science, then it could be nutzo and even greater then Normal Mage ships. Its assumed not everyone may be able to grasp sorcery, but you could make it so widespread that perhaps everyone at least could learn some simple rituals or aid in rituals.

    Thoughts?

Its interesting with the nature of Colonies and say Vampires. If you allow only Methuselah level generation onto the ship, or say perform a no embrace ritual on weaker bloods who journey then you could essentially restart Vampires being of mighty blood. But if you just allow anyone, particularly with this being the future then high generation and caitiffs would run rampant off Earth? Vampires would essentially be limited to human level traits, and mighty generationed kindred would even more seem like gods, if they weren't so nostalgic.

And if you have Thousands of Psychics that only breed with other Psychics, would they start to breed true? Seems weird if the generation of a new planet only had their mythic founders with strange powers but their children all normal humans. I would imagine at the very least psychic powers would start becoming more and more frequent with each generation, and there is a good chance kinfolk of Werewolves making a handful of lost cubs among their children. So now we have psychic werewolves separated from their tribal spirits?!

Same with the Kithain situation, what happens when you have a civilization with fae blood bred into them from all angles? Are Inanimae infertile? Since the Hsien are now Gallain do they have Kinain now?

That is the nature of the Fera their blood would likely be among the children of the colonies. So they would pop in among other colony ships. Probably the same with Changelings, though depending on the colony vessel they could be in a banality trap.

By the time Colony Ships come about the Technocracy has won and destroyed all supernaturals.

Then you don't get to have Colony Ships.

Or the TU is desperately overreaching in an attempt to get an advantage. Which could result in a bunch of colony ships having an accident when they get to the asteroid belt...

It could just as easily be a victory for the Sons of Ether, in which case there would probably be plenty of supernatural critters running around.

              Shameless Technocratic shill.

After reading C20 and the Freehold book Changelings and Hsien seem like the most useful for Colonization, even more so then mages. Changelings and Hsien can tap into effectively Archmage level magics if they have preparation and the concept of Freeholds and Glades seem the most suitable goals for Colonies. And their capacity to create Treasures damn, they could essentially restart Earth on a dirtball.

Hell I'm really getting the picture at how the Fae could have been the Old Gods. They could actually pull off a lot of the Garden of Eden stuff with their lessened magic, so higher fae like Tuatha and Greater Heavenly ministers could totally pull off essentially Creating humanity and life on Earth. Hell I'm getting the idea of exploring the concept that the Tuatha and Fomorians and Fae in General are a Multiverse Spanning group. Arcadia reaches the level of the Deep Dreaming where they are equal distance from all Universes. So Tuatha could be Fae from another World, and perhaps even a Player group could become the Tuatha or Fomorians of a different Universe. It feels if they do something like create humanity, or at least uplift humanity to tool use and taming fire the Fae that did that would have some sort of Super Rapture that uplifts them a Mantle of God in the Dreaming.
