  • Dark Young (V5 style)

This is an attempt at creating Dark Young (of Shub Niggurath) in V5. I am seeking feedback.

In a bit of work I'm tinkering on, the Pit in downtown Chicago is secretly a Baali organ well. The dark young is chilling on the shroud side of it.

    Dark Young

Intelligence + Occult Lore on the subject…

•••• (4) Successes: The literature on the subject conflates Dark Young with something called a “shoggoth.”

••••• (5) Successes: Dark Young are usually associated with the obscure Shub-Niggurath Cult. They apparently serve to both protect the cult and serve as proxies for Shub-Niggurath.

•••••• (6) Successes: Dark Young are real and are hideously dangerous. The Dark Young are distinct from shoggoths. The Dark Young are the spawn of Shub-Niggurath. They might resemble a dead tree in poor lighting. In better lighting, they look like some bastard crossed a giant crustacean with the giant tube worms that live near deep sea thermal vents and then assembled the entire thing to vaguely resemble a tree. The principal mouth is on the bottom between the three legs. It may also draw sustenance from blood and bodily fluid (such as vitae), which is consumes through the tube worm-like tentacles that serve as secondary mouths. Its tertiary mouths appear in retractable scallop-like structures that also serve as sensory organs.

Imo it's better if you plant it (pun intended) in a disused greenhouse or even in one of the many Conservatories around the city.

That would be a masquerade breach right in the heart of the city. They only sort of look like dead trees in bad lighting. Under anything like a real examination they are pure monster. And also, these things are big - 24 ft tall or so. How many green houses could it hide in?
