So why types of Arts would you most like to see?

So what Arts do you feel we are missing or that you would most like Created?

For instance I would love a Sun and Moon/Day and Night Art.

Maybe a Beast Creation and Control art?

And what is the best way to portray a changeling sorcerer, as all Arts seem like Sorcery. Naming then? Without a ritual magic, or a combination magic how do you portray things like great magical workings?

In older editions it made it somewhat seem like since changelings existed in relatively high numbers for supernaturals the vast majority of Changelings, like Wraiths, only had a handful of arts, with the heroes of the world developing great faculty.

I really like the Alchemies of the Hsien, always did and they are extra smooth now. But they are very complete and flexible kind of like DA Mage Pillars, so the Five Elemental Alchemies and Nei Dan fill a lot. But I feel they should have a little more then 6 powers, it is after all conceivable a single being could learn all or almost all of them... and then what.

I was contemplating on my walk home and I thought of maybe 5 arts that are flip sides of each of the elements. At first I was thinking their powerset was pretty broad and maybe two Forbidden Alchemies would be a way to broaden the available arts, but that goes against what I was trying to do, essentially more PC options and Forbidden powers more narrows player options then expands them. So instead I went with flip side Alchemies that don't follow the Elemental Alchemies so much because there would be a lot of Redundancies and we have enough of that already, but maybe somewhere between the Elemental Alchemies and Nei Tan.

    Ri Dan/Sun Alchemy 日丹
Sun Alchemy is the flip side of Fire Alchemy. Its very much a Yang concentrated Alchemy, that evokes truth, glory, faith, the sky and light, and time when used as an elemental alchemy. Opposite of Moon Alchemy one of its powers can bring out a you that is you'er then you, a truer self, more glorious like if you are a candle the truer you is the sun. It allows animal forms to become more regal like allowing Nyans to become Tigers rather then cats, and Fu Hsi become Dragons in their Wani Forms or giant snakes in animal forms.

    Yue Dan/Moon Alchemy 月丹
For this one I started with Shadow Alchemy, and Death Alchemy but then had a good idea for Dual Sun Moon Alchemies so switched it there. Its the flip side of Water Alchemy. It is very much the Yin counterpart to Sun Alchemy. It evokes the sea, shadows, death, echoes, deception, and lesser duplicates. Instead of say a power to make you greater you have say a power that adds shadows of yourself, less substantial twin attacks for instance following up a first attack or action. It also evokes the tides and the oceans, and perhaps travel, and cold.

    Xue Dan/Blood Alchemy 血丹
Blood Alchemy is the flipside of Wood Alchemy. It reflects the Element of Wood expressed through blood, bone and flesh. Animals and shapeshifting, as well as true birth and life. It resonates with Hunger and pain.

    Xukong Dan/Void Alchemy 虚空 丹
Void or Emptiness Alchemy is the flipside of Earth, its true opposite. Kind of like how Hannumen are the Earth aspected Hirayanu but they are very much the flipside of what it means to be Earth, and Sun Wukong means awakened to emptiness. A very Yin aspected anti Earth Art. Would be synchronized well ideally with Earth and Nei Dan particularly. But particularly good at nullifying elements, particularly the emotions. Very Defensive.

    Huangjin Dan/Golden Alchemy 黄金丹
Golden Alchemy is the flipside of Metal Alchemy, but Gold is often tied strongly with the concept of Metal. This evokes particularly though abundance, fortune, wealth, and even covetousness. It would involve powers like blessings and curses, as well as controlling wealth and value. Perhaps even the Alchemy which can help create Auspicious Treasures.

    Yaomo Dan/Demon Alchemy 妖魔 丹
I want at least one Bastard Demon Alchemy for those who turned to the Yama Kings, or like the Daitya who are their own Demons. It is the Flipside of Neidan and evokes corruption rather then enlightenment. Mastery and enslavement, tying yourself to your desires and allowing for demonic powers, and creating and communing with demons like the other alchemies touch upon Elementals.

I want these ideas to fill out the lacunae in the Hsien magical capabilities. Like for instance Xue Dan could be used to turn a man into a fish, or even impregnate themselves and when combined with competency in the other 5 elements you would have strong control over composition of not just the body but also the soul of the new life. Maybe Sun Alchemy added to other Alchemies can allow for the creation of supernatural beings, maybe representing the powers of the Ministers of Heaven when they created the first Shinma. Maybe it allows you to create spirits when combined with other alchemies. Sun and Moon Alchemies I also want to effect time. And Neidan is a brilliant catch all, hell each power feels like they could have been the theme for a whole Alchemy, so maybe some of the odd Alchemies tie in well with their powers, like Blood Alchemy and the Primordial shapeshifting power could synch well, and maybe the power that allows you to invest corpses with Yang to make them Animate could be enhanced with Moon Alchemy.

    Bao Feng Yu/Storm Alchemy 暴风雨丹
This is an extra alchemy I was considering, because Air isn't an element there is a big gap in their powerset. Especially since some Shinma created a vast storm to block out the Sun when the Bodhisattvas were fighting Zapathsura in the Week of Nightmares. I figure it would be an alchemy which not only represents air, but also the knotting of the elements. Much of storms essence is made up of combining say Water and Fire after all. But also maybe it emphasizes the Chaos and Order aspects of Yang and Yin.

Hmmm This is an Arts thread I should probably spin this off into its own Alchemy Thread.

I am trying to think of something that's still useful for those who can already travel into other worlds and speak to spirits but helsp those who can't like Metamorphosis is useful to a pooka but doesn't completely invalidate it them or Selkie.

level 2-I have an idea for solidly sensing how strongly something is effected by the other world. So sense juices, active powers. Strength fo the Gauntlet/Shroud/etc, I mean it could include sensing nearby ghosts/spirits but that starts to get too busy maybe?

Level 3-this is not just meant to be communication with the "near" other realms but to anyone in another realm. If I'm in the deep dreaming and want to talk to someone in Stygia, it works. If I want to call up Autochthon etc. One would just need to have some sort of connection, so prop could use someone's fetter etc.

I don't feel like I need a "transform dog into a spirit" power because.. I can do that by keeping them in a realm long enough and that feels closer to me thematically to "Fae transforms things into other types of being" than having a direct power to make spirits.

level 5-this is mean to be alot closer to "create gate to Realm" than just drop into the umbra. It can take you to the near umbra but it could also take you to a particular Yama King's hell. Or a paticular deep Dreaming Kingdom.

So I feel a power that modifies the strength of the gauntlet/shroud/local banality level might exist for this but I'm not sure if banality raiting of an area is too powerful a thing to go with and reducing shroud is.. much less useful.

The Arts of Dawn, Day, Dusk, and Night would make excellent compliments to the Seasonal Arts, and tap into the whole Dark Age Fae ideas, with modern twists like how Changeling Autumn doesn't include that harvest schtick.

Or if you really had to, condense it into the Arts of the Sun and Moon, or Day and Night. Sun and Moon may be less necessary since their effects are already in there in other things, like Spring, Metamorphosis, ect. But Dawn/Day/Dusk/Night feels like you could have a rather complete set of cool godlike magics. Or heck maybe you could have these Dark Age themed Arts represent some of the Greater Arts, so just a step above other Arts, like Arch arts that require other Arts to be known to learn.

The Art of Equinox would be what I would think of for the Art of Liminality, much like it would be the Art of Crossroads. I would however compress many of these effects into one. Maybe you need something though to open the Gate, especially since there could be lots of different Worlds. Sight and Sense I would have be the same power, and have it maybe detect phenomina. Maybe make Speak a Summon power, so its more a have words with entity type of situation. And I would like some sort of create spirit matter either out of Earthly material and or Chimerical material, this could include turning a Dog into a Ghost or a Spirit, or some sort of Chthulhu thing from Beyond. Maybe Otherworldly Gate would be more along the Lines of Unseal the Otherworldly Gateway: You need a Freehold/Glen/Place of Power and you open up a nexus in the part of the Spirit World you are native to to other parts of the Spiritworld that can be opened if you have say a native from there helping, or a piece of there.

Initially I was hesitant because it invalidates birth rights, but then I thought "Metamophosis exists so.."

    Liminality

1.Otherwordly sight-Not sure how to realm this

    2. Sense the other worldly touch- detect supernatural and how much juice they have on them(Gnosis/glamour/quint etc), also if something, someone is under a supernatural effect(Example: a mortal who's had their memory wiped by a Vampire would show up as having been effected by a power of some sort).

3, Speak to those beyond-This allows communication with entities explicitly not in the realm you are in, realm applying to the applicable target.

    4, I have no idea for 4.

5, Otherwordly Gate.- This allows the abrupt transferance into another realm of existance, Realm allowing for various things to go through.

But I don’t mean revising their power, I mean starting from scratch maybe stealing one or two things and doing a new art like how winter was a better chryos. So make it Animas or Spiritcraft, or he’ll you could do worse then making it the Art of Equinox. Maybe even add a touch of godcrafting so fae can harness glamour of worship and sacrifice, and create mantles of godhood, and turn animals into spirits.

Yup they did a much better job this edition.

Upon finishing reading the arts and realms I would say if we redid talecraft and Spirit-link they would be way better. Spirit Link could tap into ghosts and spirits, with realms doing things like choosing who/what you bind a spirit to, gettin boons/wisdom from spirits and maybe turning ghosts into gods and elemental into plasmics.

And talecraft I have a lot of ideas for, with how much they broadened sovereign. It would be almost the art of Realms treating the world like a story or play. Like making it so a person object or location is tied to a certain theme, like haunted house, happy ending spouse, archenemy. Limited reality control through a story, think when puck fought Oberon in Gargoyles, it would be both illusions and effects. You could stear clear of just copying legerdemain. Harnessing stories to make those who play to archetypes boosted while discouraging against breaking character, think like casting legacies on others. With fae five you could probably even cast some sort of story cycle on a can trip as a curse or blessing like with Fafnir using metamorphosis 5 as a subject linking a cursed ring into making whoever inherits it a dragon.

I see room. Not to mention some ideas for the mythical lost greater arts. Maybe they could even require certain mastery of other arts just to start learning.

I'm trying to recall what all abilities Fair Folk and other such creatures are often attributed with. Illusion, travel, shape changing (themselves and others), divination, power over the weather or other elements (including plants, animals and the like) ... I know there are some I'm forgetting, but of the above, I think the existing arts cover them. Hmm.
