  • Why Kithain didn’t settle in the Dreaming during the Shattering?

All narratives describing Shattering I read describe the three fates for Kithain to choose from during Shattering: to hide in freeholds in the Autumn world (and become the Lost Ones), to flee to Arcadia, or to become changelings to stave off the Banality. But why two of choices were to remain in the increasingly Banal world? Was the Dreaming too dangerous to settle at the time?

Dreams & Nightmares describe settlements and freeholds of kithain in the Dreaming. Are these changelings (and if this is the case, why they do not fall to Bedlam?) or true fae (and in this case, when they settled there?)

The trods leading into the Dreaming closed during the Shattering. The sidhe and their retinue were able to escape, but they had the other commoners stay behind for some reason.

I'm pretty sure the Kithain living in the Dreaming were commoners who were already living in the Dreaming when the Shattering happened, and are True Fae.
