  • Murdering Well meaning Autum people

is it permissable to murder a well meaning Autum person?

On one hand they , in their way, mean well trying to teach their child "reality", to cure what they see as a mental illness, etc... on the other, they spread banality wherever they go

the escheat, the seelie or unseelie code, the shadow court.

The escheat and the shadow court would be a matter of individual rulers and judges. They likely would go on a case-by-case basis, though grudges go a long way in Changeling law to make certain things legal.

The Seelie Court would only permit it if it were beautiful and dramatic. Your honor must be on the line for the death to be warranted. Otherwise, a glorious rescue should not include murder for its own sake, but merely as a possible side-effect as you get that Autumn Person's victims away from him.

The Unseelie Court would be fine with it as long as it didn't bring trouble down upon the Kithain. Some may object, others would applaud. Of course, more satisfying would be to terrorize the Autumn Person until they were mad with paranoia and fear.

Oh one more thing on the issue of autumn people?

How to quantify what kind of events "Cure" an autumn person.

A lowering of their Banality would be mechanical evidence enough. Storytelling-wise, if they begin to see or recognise the Dreaming, get struck with inspiration or get enchanted over and over again.

well yes but good guidelines for when their Banalitys lowered.

The fluff in the Autumn people book made it sound like some Unseelie Pooka were able to lower some Librarians Banality, by terrorizing her in what sounded like Ravaging.

Banality reduction is roleplaying-only at the moment. CTD 2e didn't have fixed rules for it. Sorry I can't be more helpful! C20 may have rules for it, though.

do you think that would be good or bad, personally, having rules for it gives us something to fall back on, but could be seen as disposing of role playing.

If you allow any rules in the game you have this issue.

                      Ok I see an idea

A social roll at a difficulty of their Banality.

Not sure if Empathy or Ettiquite is more appropiate.

-2 Difficulty if their subjected to enchantment as part of their rehabilitation, though bringing one of the autumn people into the dreaming is DANGEROUS.
