  • 15 Vampire: the Masquerade stories based on Goth songs

Something I put together for your use and inspiration:

    1. Bela Lugosi's Dead (Bauhaus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U1SiIWuZeE)

Hook: A man that looks exactly like Bela Lugosi dressed in Dracula garb has been seen around the city.
Problem: The doppelganger doesn't just dress like a vampire, he really is one. With Lugosi's memories but Dracula's appetites. He appears to be ignorant about Kindred society and has little regard for the Masquerade.
Complications: Anemic or completely drained people are turning up with telltale bite marks. Unfortunately the culprit is quite elusive. He has a knack for quickly drawing a victim from the Rack and disappearing almost immediately after feeding. It's more likely that the PCs always just miss him than they are to catch him in the act.
Subplots: The police need to catch someone they can blame for the recent overtly vampiric attacks.
Resolution: In the unlikely event they actually catch Bela feeding he'll lead them back to his haven in his flight. More likely is that they'll realize this vampire is a walking cliche and there's only one cliched haven near his feeding grounds. A dilapidated church bell tower with a cemetery next to it. A tomb there has recently become the haven of a Sabbat pack called The Brides. Lugosi is their project, a humorous way of testing the city's defenses. They took a Shovelhead and used Vicissitude and Dominate to transform him into the dead actor, body and mind. Letting him loose to see what the Camarilla's response is. They're easily driven off, but Bela will stand his ground and fight.
Fun Stuff: Whilst tracking Bela down they constantly run into a woman working for a talent agency. She's been tasked to headhunt the lookalike and treats the PCs as her bitter rivals in this endeavor.
Theme: Unlife isn't as cool as in the movies.

    2. Catacomb Kittens (Cinema Strange https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuJj_gjaxms)
Hook: There's something under the city spooking the Nosferatu. There's talk of two pairs of glowing feline eyes.
Problem: With at least one neonate destroyed and another torpid, the local Nosferatu have started avoiding the underground. This causes them to encroach on other domains. Which in turn leads to conflict. The sewers, subway tunnels and such need to be rendered safe again before this boils over.
Complications: Anyone who goes under the city has more to fear than just the Catacomb Kittens. A couple of Nosferatu are trying to deal with the situation by using boobytraps.
Subplots: Eventually a Bloodhunt is called on whatever is down there. There's theory among some that it must be something with quite potent blood. So some would be diablerists answer the call. They aren't above sabotaging the efforts of the PCs.
Resolution: The Catacomb Kittens are in fact two girls that ran away into the underground back in the 1800s. They were embraced by a Gangrel Elder shortly after which a cave in put both of them in torpor. Recently they have awakened completely ignorant of what they are and what's going on. Perceiving the horrible visage of the Nosferatu, they considered them a deadly threat. So in a desperate attempt at survival they preemptively attacked any such monstrosities they encountered. The same could easily happen to the PCs. Someone with a friendly face could reason with them though. Convincing the Prince and the Nosferatu to let the girls keep their unlives will take a lot more effort however.
Fun Stuff: In a lot of tunnels there's nights old graffiti. It's all information and warnings about the Nictuku.
Theme: It's a refugee crisis, do you blame the victims or the actual cause?

    3. Pagan Lovesong (Virgin Prunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgoJn5SUa_4)
Hook: One of the PCs awakens from a music filled weird dream. It turns out he hasn't slept for one day, but two. His haven shows signs of forced entry.
Problem: The PC's chest shows signs of forced entry as well, his heart has been removed. He probably wants it back.
Complications: The song in the dream is real and appears to be an ode to the PC in question. It
leads to a local Pagan Alternative singer, who nobody can locate. There's supposedly a concert by her in the woods outside the city in a few nights time. Unfortunately its a secret gig of which nobody seems to know the exact time and place.

Subplots: Another Kindred had been spying on the PC's haven. He's now determined to expose the coterie as having been corrupted by Setites.
Resolution: The heart was stolen by the singer, a Setite he (briefly) encountered in his past. Because of a religious vision she was grown obsessed and wants to own him in this way. She hid it in a hollow tree at the location of her concert. Which isn't so much just a concert as a gathering of her blood cult.
Fun Stuff: Some howls and snarls in the far distance to unease the PCs. They're probably just feral dogs though, probably.
Theme: Love among the undead is a twisted thing.

    4. Lucretia My Reflection (The Sisters Of Mercy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuezNswtRfo)

Hook: There's been a sharp uptake in Anarch violence in the city lately. The PCs and their interests will have a brush with it as well.
Problem: The Anarchs are being spurred on by a new leader, the mysterious Lucretia. She's a font of information to them on the whereabouts, activities and finances of the local Camarilla Kindred. The establishment is really starting to hurt.
Complications: Nobody knows who this Lucretia is. In fact no Anarch has any direct contact with this woman or seen her, except their second in command. That's cause she's a ghost. The dilapidated drug den that serves as the Anarch headquarters used to be a WW2 era arms and munitions factory with poor working conditions. Lucretia was one of many workers that lost her life there. In death she learned several prominent local Kindred had the factory in their pockets. She blames them for the fatalities and has been spying on the city's vampires for years, hoping to use the info to get back at them. Recently an Anarch came upon Lucretia's former pocket mirror, through it she made contact with him to bring her plans to fruition.
Subplots: Kindred society is wracked by paranoia. Someone must be feeding these Anarchs this info. Suspicion will also fall on one or multiple PCs.
Resolution: If they want to avoid a full Anarch takeover Lucretia needs to be taken out. For this they first need to know that she's a ghost. After that getting into the factory and destroying the mirror is one way of handling it. Clan Giovanni could probably provide another.
Fun Stuff: The factory is a huge place, divided up between vermin, junks and Anarchs. Sneaking around in it will be an interesting experience.

Theme: The past eventually catches up to all.

    5. Gallowdance (Lebanon Hanover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPw7nlluRdc)
Hook: A ghoul of one of the PCs is in the hospital. He was revived after been found hanging from the infamous suicide tree in the park.
Problem: The ghoul's domitor is being accused of endangering the Masquerade by not properly controlling the retainer in question. If punishment is to be avoided the PCs need to find the real cause behind the suicide attempt of the ghoul, he remembers very little though.
Complications: Except for a few copycats, the suicides found hanging from that tree are the work of a German Malkavian. Every few years she performs a ritualized killing there, called the 'Gallowdance'. This is the first time it failed and the Malkavian has every intention of rectifying that.
Subplots: Another Kindred witnessed the failed Gallowdance happening. He'll try to sell info about it to the PCs. But could instead end up being paid off by the Malkavian for his silence and information on the PCs and their investigation.
Resolution: Either the PCs find the Malkavian or she finds the ghoul. Just destroying the Malkavian will only worsen their problems though. They'll need proof she was the culprit. Ideally they need to bring her before the Prince and get a confession.
Fun Stuff: The Malkavian is no pushover. Fending her off, never mind capturing her is going to be a challenge. Especially inside a hospital, where both the ghoul and the masquerade need to be protected.
Theme: Having a ghoul is a great responsibility.

    6. Staring (Corpus Delicti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVnL-KJ-fQI)
Hook: One of the PCs keeps encountering the same Toreador Elder, just staring at her in fascination. Soon after the entire coterie gets an invitation to visit the Elder in his property outside the city.
Problem: The Toreador is fed up with unlife. He wants the PCs to end it that night or he's going to end theirs.
Complications: He's very specific on how he wants to be destroyed. He recounts the many great sights and experiences he had over the centuries. The Toreador demands the PCs provide him with another such moment that will hold him fascinated until the sunlight takes him.
Subplots: The Elder knows many secrets, he's a font of information on the city's Kindred affairs. If the PCs play their cards right, they could learn a lot.
Resolution: The PCs either succeed at their task or they convince the Elder to hold on to unlife a bit longer. Simply destroying him is also an option. But it'll be a tough fight and difficult to explain to the Prince.
Fun Stuff: The PCs showing the jaded Elder what they can do or what the modern world has to offer.
Theme: In the end there's nothing worth continuing for, or is there?

    7. Rituel (She Past Away https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5Kkw-Puhho)

Hook: During Elysium an influential Elder is suddenly attacked by a swarm of insects. He also starts to convulse as if strangely dancing. His bones are in fact bending unnaturally, causing great pain.
Problem: The Elder has obviously been cursed. The Tremere being is foremost rivals, his allies promise swift retaliation against them if the Elder's torment doesn't end at once. This could mean all out civil war in the domain. And would have some or all of the PCs being ordered to go up against the Tremere chantry, a near suicide mission.
Complications: The real culprit is an Assamite Sorcerer. He was sent by his Sire to avenge a betrayal by the cursed Elder. In the ritual an urn was used. The only way to break the spell is to expose it to (any) light. For this reason the Assamite has buried it deep underground somewhere.
Subplots: After the near Anarch takeover and now the current crisis, the Sabbat smell weakness. The Brides pack is back, the harbingers of a siege if they aren't opposed.
Resolution: Occult research should tell them that the Elder's symptoms are associated with a Assamite sorcery. If they track the Assamite Sorcerer down he is unlikely to respond to interrogation. At most he might tell about the urn and why he performed the ritual. Their best bet is to retrace the Sorcercer's steps through investigation.

Fun Stuff: A race through the city, first looking for the Assamite and then the urn. All the while playing a cat and mouse game with a Sabbat pack. Alternatively; mounting a desperate attack against the city chantry.
Theme: United we stand, divided we fall.

    8. Something Inside Me Has Died (Kommunity FK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiCpfZXjbsk)

Hook: An associate of the PCs has had a noticeable drop in Humanity lately. He's in fact trying to switch to a Path of Enlightenment.

Problem: He's being stupidly overconfident about this, he actually has no idea what he's doing. If the PCs don't find him a teacher he'll be lost to wassail soon.
Complications: Finding a teacher outside the Sabbat won't be easy. And part of the vampire in question doesn't really want help, but's just being self destructive.
Subplots: An independent Lasombra Antitribu that offers assistance is in fact a low Humanity Sabbat spy.
Resolution: They either help him get on the path or they'll have a Wight on their hands.
Fun Stuff: Dealing with some very eccentric Autarkis.
Theme: Carelessly throwing away your humanity is foolish.

    9. The Broken Ones (Diva Destruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeJNyWS0PtQ)
Hook: A vampire approaches the PCs and many of their associates with a real treasure to sell; some Elder Vitae.
Problem: Soon after a brood of known Caitiff's minds appear to break. They're out of control, attempting diablerie on anyone who drank of this Vitae.
Complications: The domain's authorities are having trouble putting an end to these Caitiff. They're in fact the only direct descendants in the area of the torpid Malkavian Methuselah from which the Vitae was taken. She uses them as the tool of her revenge, guiding all their actions.
Subplots: The Vitae seller knows the Caitiff are closing in on him. The staked Methuselah he's hiding out with in a sexshop basement needs to be destroyed. But he's greedy and prefers to find a buyer, knowing what diablerizing such a Kindred would be worth.
Resolution: Taking out all the Caitiff will slow down, but won't stop the Methuselah's revenge. She could influence most young Kindred of Malkavian origin in the area. And the seller won't be able to arrange her Final Death before his own. So either the PCs find the Methuselah and destroy or reason with her,
or she won't stop until everyone who drank the Vitae is dead.

Fun Stuff: Every Malkavian they encounter has had some strange visions to share.
Theme: The grave consequences of a small thrill.

    10. Allegedly Dancefloor Tragedy (Suspiria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kD3JOX9OH30)

Hook: Elysium is being held at a Goth clubnight, when a Kindred collapses into ashes in the middle of the dancefloor. Problem: The Sheriff immediately has the club cordoned off. A Masquerade breach must contained, a killer caught. For the former problem, having the venue burn down with all living patrons tragically trapped inside is being considered. If no better solution is forthcoming at least.
Complications: The ashes are identified, diablerie is the cause of her demise. But who exactly did the deed isn't readily found out. If he isn't, the Prince is that much more likely to sanction the fiery solution. Hoping it will take care of the culprit as well.
Subplots: A handful of the club's patrons don't accept that they have to stay put. They're actively working on a plan to escape through some means the Sheriff overlooked.
Resolution: If all PCs have clear auras they could simply walk out and let over a hundred people and the killer burn to death. Although trouble might follow them out. They can prevent all this by coming up and helping to implement a better solution. And by finding the diablerist who's hiding somewhere in the building. He's the Childe of the victim, who took the obsession of his full blood bond to a conclusion logical to him.
Fun Stuff: A group of patrons jump to the conclusion that vampires are real. And hunters have locked down the club to destroy them. They offer their loyalty and service to anyone they believe to be undead.
Theme: How many lives is your convenience worth?

    11. Signing Off (Frank The Baptist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktWj440edIs)

Hook: A Gangrel member of the court hasn't been seen in a while, he's neglecting his responsibilities. A boon gets called in from the PCs. They are to go to his haven and tell him he's to surrender his position.
Problem: He's not the Kindred they remember. Emotional turmoil has had him frenzy a lot lately. Yet his determined to overcome his woes, regain self-control and reclaim his title. They ought to help him, or else!
Complications: The fact is that he's really not up to it anymore. He has too much problems with social interaction now that his body and mind is so riddled with animal features.
Subplots: The Gangrel still has his supporters. They believe the PCs are somehow the cause of these issues, so that a PC can take the title. They will make their displeasure felt.
Resolution: He has to step down, one way or the other. Either they talk him down or they'll need to take him down.
Fun Stuff: Counselling something that's hardly recognizable as a man anymore.
Theme: You can't hold on to something forever.

    12. Wasteland (The Mission https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2up4WUQod0)
Hook: One or more of the PCs is quietly approached by an associate of theirs. He invites them to a secret meeting in the barrens, that will be attended by many Anarchs and other disgruntled Neonates.
Problem: It turns out the barrens have become a foothold for the Sabbat. And this meeting is nothing less but their recruitment drive.
Complications: With this many Sabbat around the PCs will have trouble just walking away or even fighting their way out. They will have to play along until they manage to escape.
Subplots: The Kindred authorities are well aware of this meeting. Infiltrators are on the ground, explosives have been set and a raid is imminent.
Resolution: With some delicate handling the PCs can avoid the vaulderie, a bloodhunt or final death. Finding allies among those present is key.
Fun Stuff: Getting invited to join in all manner of fun Sabbat traditions as part of the sale pitch.
Theme: Is there anyone you can trust?

    13. Cities In Dust (Siouxsie And The Banshees https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hMagNuhLkk)
Hook: To Elysium comes the Pompeii Neonate, found torpid by a Kindred archaeologist near the ruins of the ancient Roman city. He makes a fascinating undead artefact, so his handler takes him on a tour of Camarilla domains. Local Kindred are urging each other on to certainly not miss his passage in their own city.
Problem: During the ancient Neonate's presentation an attempt on his unlife is made. The PCs are ideally positioned to stop the attack.
Complications: The coterie will be put in charge of the Pompeii Neonate's safety for the remainder of his stay in the domain. And other attacks will come.
Subplots: The attacks are ordered by a Methuselah that survived Pompeii's destruction as well. She remembers that at that time the Neonate was a messenger between the Cainite domains around the volcano. He abandoned his duty to save himself. And it turns out one of the PCs is a descendant of the Methuselah, he'll be approached to aide her revenge.
Resolution: The PCs should be able to fight off all threats until the Neonate leaves. However for a permanent solution they will first need to learn what exactly is going on and why. Then establish a dialogue with the Methuselah, she's willing to listen to reason.
Fun Stuff: Babysitting a vampire that has no idea yet how anything in the 21st century works.
Theme: In the end, is doing everything you can to survive really worth it?

    14. Vivid Still Beating (All Gone Dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anWwGfruB3c)
Hook: One or more of the PCs come across an elderly man wandering the streets, he's looking for vampires. And pretty good at actually identifying them as well.
Problem: When he was a young man during WO2 he helped several Kindred escape a besieged city by plane. His mind was wiped afterward. But now with the early onset of senility those mental barriers have disappeared. As he feels his end nearing he demands the embrace or he'll cause a massive Masquerade breach.
Complications: He has developed an iron will, so Dominate won't work again. Also he hid a compelling proof of Kindred existence. If he were to disappear or die these materials will automatically end up with the media. One of the Kindred that he helped back then is still secretly watching over him too.
Subplots: One vampire believes a hated rival he's lost track of since WW2 was one of the Kindred the man helped. He'll go to dangerous lengths to get more information.
Resolution: Having the old man embraced is one way to solve everything, not that the Prince is inclined to sanction this. Any other solution will undoubtedly cause some trouble. But the man's safeguards could be dealt with. The best option though would be to keep him safe and talk him down.
Fun Stuff: He has some interesting stories to tell about what some familiar NPCs were up to decades ago.
    Theme: The struggle against mortality.

    15. One Hundred Years (The Cure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjOT2XznEz4)
Hook: All the PCs are picked up and driven to a building downtown. There they are briefed that the Sabbat might be planning a full on siege on the city. They are to prepare accordingly, give their unlives if necessary.
Problem: As they are returned home they hear reports on the radio about violent incidents that point towards it already having started.
Complications: The Sheriff isn't doing his duty cause he fears it's completely hopeless. He can be found attending mass with his Sire. Planning to await their demise up the church tower.
Subplots: As the siege has started in earnest and the domain explodes with violence they come across a freshly embraced girl. This Lasombra shovelhead is the last remnant of a destroyed pack. She's willing to divulge all she knows if the PCs check up on her father. Later they also come upon the Prince as he's slipping into torpor after a violent confrontation.
Resolution: This is the first full on Sabbat offensive against the domain in a century, and as all their comrades fall it looks like the city will be lost. The PCs can die, they can run or hide. Perhaps prepare to retake it in nights to come.
Fun Stuff: Going out in a blaze of glory or forming the resistance.
Theme: Is it hopeless, was it all for nothing?

It's always fun to see these! This inspired me to dust off my 2009 Vampire: The Requiem list based on 80s song titles.

As an aside, there are not one, but two canon methuselahs who survived Pompeii's destruction - and are in fact connected to it.
