  • Thin-blood Embrace

"Thin-bloods cannot create Blood Bonds or perform the Embrace with any certainty." -pg111

Since we know that thin-bloods run from 14th generation to 16th generation in V20 and 14+ in V5 it can be assumed that while thin-bloods cannot perform the Embrace with any certainty that they CAN do it. My question is does anyone know how this is handled mechanically?

In V5, there's a thinblood merit called Catenating Blood:

You can create Blood Bonds and perform the Embrace as a regular vampire. Any vampire you create this way will be a thin-blood.
It's "uncertain" in the sense that thinbloods have no choice in their merits, IC. But with the merit it'll work 100% of the time; without the merit it may work at ST discretion but will usually auto-fail.

Slight correction, Thin Bloods run from 14th to 15th in V20.

14th generation succeeds at embracing people on a 1 in 5 chance. Meaning that only 1 embrace out of every 5 works properly.

Those of 15th generation can't embrace at all, because they're too weak.

There's a hard and fast mechanic: Does it contribute to the story if the character is Embraced successfully? If your answer is yes, there you go.

          BJD introduced the 16th generation.
