Eh, Helena has no loyalty to a Prince who can't keep the peace. He was easily replaced.

In my game, the reason that Lodin is the way he is, is that he was a prisoner of the Sabbat and tortured for decades.

Author of Cthulhu Armageddon, I was a Teenage Weredeer, Straight Outta Fangton, Lucifer's Star, and the Supervillainy Saga.

For me, I have it that he was in torpor for a bit after UaBRM. Once he awoke I think he developed a derangement over what happened to him. He has a great fear of kindred recognizing him and finishing the job. He could heal the aggravated damage but his own fear won't let him. I've tweaked even that general theory as he interacts with the PC coterie in both the current timeline and the flashback eras. With the Ventrue PC being his childe I wanted to have that interaction despite his fears about being recognized. The coterie is very paranoid about him being alive. One idea I just had was that they were the ones to almost kill him but I would be stretching for a decent reason that both Lodin and the coterie have no memory of the encounter.

        Session 12
Chicago 1925. One night in the winter of 1925 the coterie stands battered outside a burning townhouse...
Spring 1925 finds the coterie members mostly deteriorating as members approach the end of when their mortal lives might have ended. One exception, Charles attends the monthly Ventrue meeting along with his fellow childer of Lodin to discuss the business of the city, the gang leader Al Capone, and the interdiction of Gary, Indiana, home of the vanquished Toreador Modius. Afterwards he joins his fellow coterie members at a mortal party celebrating a public work project success. Other kindred including Lodin are present as well. The Toreador Aoife feeds on mortal Michael Payne, husband of Sharon Payne, the current plaything of Toreador elder Annabelle. A voice whispers in her ear to feed and kill him for her own pleasure. Despite her low humanity Aoife resists. For the rest of the evening the voice encourages her to live for hew own pleasure and satisfaction. Aoife wonders how the voice sounds like the band singer performing on stage. Zarlock the Tremere now labors under the child like Regent Nicolai. As vaudeville has waned Zarlock's magic show is destitute. During the party Nicolai tells his "Uncle Zarlock" to find out information about an occult group rumored to be in Chicago, the Circle of the Earth Mother Resurgent. The Ravnos Leon is swindling mortals with fake seances using his Chimeristry. While discussing an upcoming seance with his next mark he is challenged by an unknown kindred, Caleb Smith who mocks his fraudulent practices. Leon invites Smith to attend the seance to defuse the encounter. The Gangrel James is hired by a mortal to locate a missing society girl who has ties to to the North Side Gang. Charles is approached by Naomi Stewart, one of the only Ventrue in Chicago not of Lodin's blood. She requests Charles' aid as a Ventrue to help her stop the North Side Gang from harming businesses that are being run by veterans of the women's suffrage movement. Finally, the Malkavian Quentin Finch is accosted by a mortal who knows too much of his personal history. While being mocked Finch feels his emotions being manipulated by an outside source and he is unable to resist attacking the human, not in a frenzy but an overpowering rage. The human is surprised. Leaving the party Quentin and the coterie find Quentin's ghoul Clyde impaled with several knives through his hands and legs. Clyde describes seeing the human Quentin attaced and then for some reason stabbing himself. Quentin suspects another kindred of using Dominate to possess the mortals, potentially his sire. The coterie decides to work together on the challenges confronting them. Visiting a North Side Gang speakeasy, Charles bribes a North Side Gang crew leader to leave Stewart's business interests alone. James inquires about his missing person case and learns she departed the speakeasy safely the last night she was seen. Returning to his haven Quentin finds the mortal who accosted him at the party hanging dead.

          Session 13
Chicago 1925. The next night the coterie split up to investigate their separate cases. James located the friend (Claire) of his missing person case. After using his blood to calm her nerves he learned that Veronica and Claire were abducted by a shadowy figure that murdered Veronica in a basement, letting her blood pool on the floor. Claire was told her blood was not needed and she was returned to her home. Aoife tried to track down the singer from the party and found a girl in a speakeasy that he had been feeding from without licking the wound. The singer continued to speak to her exhorting her to live for her own pleasure. Zarlock made inquiries about occult groups in Chicago and discovered that the occult bookstore he had last visited in 1863 had returned and was still run by Paris, a mortal whose aura read as kindred. In return for a promise of a future deposit of vitae Paris passed on info regarding the occult group Zarlock was investigating. Charles informed his fellow Ventrue Naomi Stewart that he had fulfilled her request. He also passed on Lodin's desire that she depart Chicago which she refused to do. Quentin conducted an autopsy on the body of the human that accosted him the previous night and discovered a necklace holding a picture of his mother on his person, leading him to further suspect he was being tormented by his unknown sire. The coterie ended the night together meeting with the Malkavian Madame O'Leary whose diatribes included clues to the challenges the coterie was facing. Quentin ended the evening trying to establish a meeting with his sire via Malkavian Time and thought he had succeeded. He also suspected that his sire was a member of the Sabbat. Zarlock observed the group he was investigating and determined there was a woman who had actual magical abilities in the group. Aoife ended the night on a distressing note, frenzying for an unknown reason and draining the girl she met earlier as well as her roommate, and feeling her slide to becoming a wight accelerating...

            Session 14
Chicago 1925. The next evening Leon and Aoife conduct their latest seance scam. As expected, the skeptic Caleb Smith is there. Leon and Aoife use their talents with Chimeristry and Movement of the Mind to good effect but surprisingly other effects occur as well, improving their efforts. Smith declares himself a believer. Leon and Aoife confront him afterwards where he tells Leon he can be so much more than what he is but also antagonizes Aoife. Pushed too far Aoife attacks Smith who vanishes before their eyes as the illusion of his personage fades. Leon suspects Smith is another Ravnos.

Quentin is waiting at the docks for his sire to appear where he is accosted by a policeman who antagonizes him. Taking him by surprise the policeman pushes him into the lake after Quentin accuses him of being his sire. Responding to Quentin's threat to chase him down, his sire states that a chase is an excellent idea. Quentin can try to chase him down before he kills one of his friends. He then speedily departs.

Charles is visited by the Ventrue Naomi who informs him that the North Side Gang is still extorting her protege's businesses. Charles states he will resolve the issue. Charles then encounters a policeman outside his door who tells him that a murder has occurred at the address written on a note he hands over. Charles deduces the man is kindred and notes bloodstains on his uniform before the policeman departs.

The coterie meets up and are being driven by one of Charles' employees who reveals that he is being possessed by Quentin's sire. Stating he is glad Quentin has found his friends he attempts to crash the car. The coterie survives the crash but a mortal teen is forced under the car when the car crashed into a house. Zarlock loses control and feeds on the teen trapped under the vehicle, ensuring his death. The policeman appears at the accident scene, antagonizing Quentin who attacks him but he escapes again. The coterie ensures the Masquerade is secure and returns to Quentin's office where they discover one of his ghouls has been murdered.

Using Auspex Aoife sees that the ghoul was murdered not by the policeman but by the singer she has been trying to find and that has been speaking to her in her ear over the past few nights. The coterie compares notes and starts to wonder if they are being manipulated by another group entirely as Quentin, Leon, and Aoife all are facing entreaties to change their behavior. The coterie guesses that the three are Sabbat members, which the voice of the singer confirms to Aoife. The singer suggests the coterie be careful so they are not viewed as Sabbat sympathizers if they tell Lodin about their presence in Chicago. He also suggests they could flourish in the Sword of Caine. While Aoife speaks with the voice Zarlock casts a ritual to track his footsteps from when he killed the ghoul. Zarlock, Charles and Leon follow the tracks to next door.

Sneaking inside, Zarlock disables a modified Thaumaturgy ritual warning system that was present in the houses. They hear not only the voice, but also the policeman, Caleb Smith, and two other voices. Realizing they are outnumbered they return to Quentin's and decide to visit the Tremere Chantry to try to ensure they cannot be spied on by the Sabbat pack as well as consult with Nicolai on a course of action...
