    And BUFFY!

    Aurelius (a.k.a Buffyverse vamps)

Quote: "Fear. It's a wonderful thing. It is the most powerful force in the world."

    Nickname: Dusters, Stake fodder, Fangfaces

Aurelius was a Brujah vampire of the Sabbat on the Path of Evil Revelations in the 1600s who recruited a small number of followers in the sect, including the Nosferatu Heinrich Joseph Nest. They taught a heretical version of Kindred religion which stated that vampires were actually the result of the Baali's Children (known as the Old Ones) sharing their blood with early humanity and creating the Antedeluvians instead of Caine. Aurelius planned to use a combination of Dark Thaumaturgy and rites to awaken the Children and bring about the end of the world by merging it with Hell.

Aurelius performed many Infernalist rituals which resulted in his followers passing on their new unique Bloodline rather than their traditional Clan Weakness. Unfortunately, for the Aurelius, the Sabbat found out about their plans to end the world so they unleashed their proro-Inquisitors upon them. Fortunately, for the Aurelius, while their founder was killed, Heinrich Joseph Nest was able to escape and became the new Master of the Bloodline. Neither the Camarilla or Sabbat suspected the Master's continued existence due to all of his subsequent childer being of the Aurelius bloodline.

Time was not especially kind to the Aurelius, however, as the Master was a potent 7th generation and his immediate childer and grandchilder were strong (Darla, Angelus, Luke, Spike, Druscilla) but the majority of his followers were actually high generation vampires of a less-than-intelligent bent. This became exaggerated when he got himself trapped in a Wyrm tunnel underneath the Nephandus node of Sunnydale High School in California

The bloodline was notably archenemies with the hedge mage organization known as the Watchers which had a religious devotion to the re-birthing avatar of a primordial Imbued known as the Slayer. While relatively small and unimportant by the standards of the World of Darkness, the Watchers nevertheless inflicted many casualties on the Order of Aurelius as well as destroying many Formori, Manifested Banes, Unseelie Fae, and even a pair of true demons (The Mayor, Glorificus).

The Aurelius Bloodline has since been effectively destroyed as of the death of its last religious leader as well as the death or "curing" of its strongest members. They are also prone to many traditional flaws related to crosses, entering homes uninvited, and losing their reflection due to their ancestors' abuse of Dark Thaumaturgy. It has only remained active as long as it has, really, by the sheer amount of causal Embracing and Blood Bonding it does. As an aside, it should be noted Aurelius vampires tended to be extremely high on their Path rating versus Sabbat or Camarilla vampires and were very prone to activity during the daytime. While no more immune to sunlight than other vampires, it made them dangerous in a way others were not.

    Disciplines: Potence, Celerity, Presence

Weakness: Aurelius vampires suffer two extremely nasty flaws which have inhibited their ability to function in modern vampire society. The first of these flaws is that a stake through the heart is immediately fatal to any member of the Bloodline. Indeed, regardless of age, they turn to dust as energy is consumed by the fires of hell within. As staking is a common way of vampires to immobilize others, it means the Aurelius have to avoid the larger sects to avoid being revealed as their forbidden bloodline (or behave--which they're terrible at due to their second flaw).

Their second, even more severe flaw, is one which Aurelius arranged for his childer to suffer from deliberately as he considered it a strength. Upon the Embrace, the Humanity level of all Aurelius is immediately halved with no ability to go above Humanity 5. Aurelius followers are usually subjected to the Vinculum soon after and trained in the Path of Evil Revelations but some awaken to wassail or are born to the Path due to the demonic magic involved. It should be noted, unlike other Bloodline curses, the second weakness is actually a ritual which can be broken with hedge or True Magic. Doing so results in a Derangement, however, followed by a slow process to regaining one's lost Humanity.

It should also be noted that with the death of the Master and Darla, the most powerful remaining members of the bloodline are 9th generation Liam ("Angelus", "Angel"), 10th generation Druscilla (who is trained in Dementation and other Malkavian disciplines), and 11th generation Spike. Of the three, the most likely to embrace are Druscilla and Spike. Druscilla passes down the humanity curse but Spike very possibly does not. As such, the bloodline has the additional disadvantage of being very high in generation. Indeed, many demonically-tainted Thin Bloods were produced in Sunnydale before its destruction.

    Also, my Underworld adaptation.

    Corvinus

    Nickname:
    Wolfhounds

Quote: "Like the weapons of the previous century, we, too, would become obsolete. Pity, because I lived for it."

The Corvinus Bloodline is one of the most prestigious of the off-shoot clans and closely aligned with Clan Ventrue. So closely aligned that outsiders usually call them Ventrue in cities and few object. While there is resistance in Europe to making the Corvinus a full sub-clan of the Ventrue, it is something the bloodline's leaders often campaigned for. This is due to its ruling Triumvirate's desire conceal the bloodline's history betrayal, experimentation, hybridization, propaganda, and lies.

The Corvinus' sordid history begins with the embrace of Alexander Corvinus, a descendant of Matthias Corvinus. According to the official chronicles of the Bloodline, this was done by a conveinantly missing and presumed deceased 4th generation Ventrue. In all likelihood, Corvinus was actually embraced by no less a personage than Red Lister Enkidu of the Gangrel. People forget the Gangrel were originally warlords and kings themselves. It would also explain the next scandalous bit of their history.

Alexander Corvinus was Kinfolk to the Garou.

It is unknown what morphed the Ventrue (Gangrel) blood in his veins but it is believed it was a combination of the Garou blood in their veins as well as a recent blood-disease to the region plus the fact Kupala's influence was common in Hungary at the time. Others believe Alexander Corvinus attempted to cleanse himself with either Garou rites or blood magic. Rumors attest he may have also later achieved Golconda and joined the Inconnu but this is hearsay. What followed was Alexander (5th Generation) embracing both his children after accidentally draining them both dry and they promptly became an even bigger embarrassment to the modern family. While Marcus was merely a savage brutish warrior, his brother William had already undergone the transformation into a Silver Fang and became one of the first known Abominations (and rapidly entered wassail). This revelation alone would destroy any prestige or respectability the Corvinus have incurred across the centuries.

While Alexander Corvinus left the historical record around this time, Marcus (6th generation) proceeded to embrace Viktor (7th generation, would later claim to be 5th to cover up diablerie) and Amelia (7th) to help bind William in a special tomb for all time. By this time, Viktor was already seven hundred years old, having been Embraced in the 5th century. Then Victor, in the height of arrogance, used his still-loyal mortal armies to hunt the existing Garou and kidnap their families to start breeding his own lycanthrope army.

It is to Vikor's ability to dodge both karma and gross stupidity that the Garou did not eliminate his bloodline outright but it was difficult to determine who was doing what during the Omen War. The Garou eliminated countless Tzimisce and Tremere covens under the mistake impression they were avenging their losses to Viktor. Viktor's experiments with alchemy, blood magic, and Vicissitude wwith his allies resulted in the final creation of a sept of Garou. This would prove to be his undoing as the reincarnating Bone Gnawer Lucius would lead a centuries-long crusade against vampiredom. The fact this was supposedly due to a romance between him and Viktor's adopted Danislav daughter/most beloved childe.

Viktor would betray his Tzimisce allies during the Omen War and ally firmly with the Ventrue later as he re-made his lineage into werewolf hunters. He bribed, exiled, or assassinated all who knew his dark secrets with the help of the Assamites before making them some of the first Archons (known as "Death Dealers" in the clan due to a lost-meaning joke about how aligning with Viktor was a card gamble). Viktor would eventually be forced into torpor by his diablerie but used his Blood Bond on Amelia and Marcus to make sure they ruled only in his name when he wasn't awake.

The modern Corvinus were firm Camarilla supporters, die-hard haters of Lupines, and a mixture of both Elder Harpies with bloodthirsty soldiers. Their focus on eliminating Lupines put them somewhat at odds with the more Sabbat-focused Camarilla but still won them much prestige. Older Kindred of the Ventrue considered them to be poseurs, upjumped commoners, false nobles, and little more than meat for the grinder against their enemies. It even became the point that Viktor's Seneschal Kragen was permanently nicknamed Kraven to the point he stopped correcting them.

Most of the dirty secrets of the Corvinus Bloodline have since been exposed, destroying most of the Bloodline's prestige. Furthermore, there is now a serious debate over whether the diablerist ex-Archon Selene (embraced 8th, now 5th generation due to three acts of diablerie) should be on the Red List due to her association with the abomination Michael Corvinus. Much of the bloodline has also been exterminated due to Civil War as well as the Garou of both the Silver Fangs as well as Bone Gnawers forming an unusual alliance to remove the staine from their (very distantly) shared past.

    Disciplines: Auspex, Celerity, Fortitude

Weakness: The Corvinus Bloodline actually have a rather severe bloodline curse with relation to Lupines as EVERY member of the Garou race can smell Wyrm taint on them, whether they have the Sense Wyrm Gift or not. They merely have to make a Perception + Awareness roll (Diffficulty 6) when in their presence. Three successes or more will also inform the Garou that the subject is a vampire.

As a result of this relationship with the Garou, most Corvinus carry silver bullets and are armed all the time even among those not embraced for their martial skill. They have also generally avoided using melee weapons like the Brujah and prefer ranged weapons. The Corvinus furthermore have another weakness which is that when they're suppressing frenzy, their eyes take on a startling inhuman blue. This is considered something of a Masquerade breach and is another sign of their Gangrel heritage.

I also did a bunch of other Bloodlines based on Media.

    Here's my BLADE adaptation.

    La Magrans

    Nickname:
    Mouthbleeders

Quote: "We should be ruling the humans, not making back-alley treaties with them."

The so-called 14th clan, the La Magrans were until recently one of the most numerous bloodlines on Earth. They were also a subject of scorn and derision for both the Camarilla and Sabbat who refused them entry into their sects for being too similar to the other. The arcane, classicist, and disgusting practices of the sect also lended itself to considering itself too pure for either. Now, the La Magrans find themselves on the verge of, if not extinction, then becoming no more important than any other Bloodline.

La Magrans trace their origins back to the mythical blood god La Magra who some Kindred scholars identity to the Assamite Antedeluvian Haqim (which would go over very poorly with both Assamites and La Magrans). La Magra allegedly turned Summerian Warlord Dagon the Dragon and gave unto him the power to rule humanity. It is debated among non-La Magrans that Dagon was either a Assamite, Brujah, Tzimsice, or even Baali. The most likely explanation is he was a Middle Eastern branch of the Tzimisce, possibly a Naglopers, with its focus on blood as well as magic coming from their relationship.

The La Magrans, much like Tzimsice, keep ghoul families but treat them far differently as all La Magrans above 10th generation are expected to only embrace Revenants. Indeed, the Revenants of the family are treated as full members of the clan and can order those only "turned" around regardless of age or power. This practice is not only considered queer but outright offensive to most other Cainite Clans. Turned members of the La Magrans are perpetually considered second class citizens with expectations of Blood Bonding, Domination, or being treated as cannon fodder.

The La Magrans attempted to join with the Camarilla at the Convention of Thorns but were the only "clan" to be outright turned away. This was due not only to their practice of maintaining ghoul families, practice of Paths of Enlightenment, and disdain for turned vampires but also because of their hideously dangerous Masquerade-breaking flaw. Others believe the La Magrans' flaw was no worse than the Nosferatu's and the real reason was the Tremere and Ventrue both feared the La Magrans' admission would diminish their positions.

Many La Magrans joined the Sabbat but since they considered the entirety of the older bloodlines to be bullshit, they willingly adopted the mantle of Caitiff and lost their roots. It says something about the treatment of their turned neonates that even being the loweliest of the Sabbat was considered to be a step up from being a member of the bloodline. The La Magrans own back alley deals with humans and devotion to the Masquerade got many killed in Sabbat War Parties--especially given Pure Bloods tended to be of very low generation.

Modern La Magrans have largely lost their roots and no longer practice Blood Magic despite having a similar-as-to-be-mechanically-identical Path of Blood as one of their disciplines. Instead, they use this ability without magic and apply it to science in hopes of removing their extensive number of weaknesses. The La Magrans are one of the most scientifically-aware clans and throw millions every year at the possibility of creating a better Kindred.

La Magrans make dramatic use of ghouls, called "Familiars", who are deliberately tattooed with marks to show them as property of the La Magran houses. This is an astoundingly stupid idea given the nature of the Masquerade and has resulted in groups like the Society of Leopold, Sabbat, Arcanum, and various groups of mages having very little difficulty tracking the sect down. Only the La Magrans massive number of embraces as well as the fact these are Turned they don't care about anyway kept them in the black until recently (see below).

It is this kind of attitude which has devastated the clan as the dhampyr Blade, a clan-based Anarch Revolt, a new Nosferatu-La Magran Vicissitude strain hybrid, a genetically engineered plague, and the death of their founder have all hit in very short order. There's even rumors of a direct assault on the Pure Blood system in Detroit. The La Magrans are a shadow of their former self and soon may be a memory like the Cappadochians or Salubri.

    Few will miss them.

    Disciplines: Auspex, Fortitude, Potence

Weaknesses: For all their claims of superiority and godlike power, the La Magra are one of the most inbred and weak vampire bloodlines in existence. Embracing only Revenants has resulted in the House's weaknesses becoming common throughout the La Magran vampire bloodline as a whole. Among other things this means that La Magrans suffer aggravated damage from both garlic as well as silver. These traditional vampire weaknesses means hunters are more likely to get lucky against them than otherwise.

The original and most deliberating weakness of the La Magrans is the fact their mouths bleed vampire blood during frenzy. Whenever they feed during frenzy, the ST should make a self-control check to see if they leave behind blood in the victim. If they do, this will result in either a ghoul (if the subject lives) or a newly-embraced vampire (if they killed the subject).

This has resulted in La Magrans often feeding from subjects they intend to kill, corpses, or keeping prisoners they bleed even when not in frenzy. They often feed off their familiars as well who, at least, can't catch ghouldom. La Magrans often mutilate the corpses of those they don't wish to rise.

I feel it's a good idea to have the inspirations for the Toreador clan to be put in the Toreador clan. Besides, as we see in the V20 books, the vampire clans all have sub-bloodlines which are still major parts of the clans themselves. You are correct about the Cappadochian connection, though.

Mechanically, it looks more like a VtR bloodline, probably Daeva descended. Also, being in VtR would explain why no matter how outrageously events in the books (people bursting into flames in front of St. Pat's, the sudden disappearance of thousands of vampires who presumably had mortal identities crafted, a rock star convincingly coming out as a vampire in the age of mass media) seem like they should change the nature of the world, there is no impact whatsoever on anything like a meta-plot.
Eh, metaplot-smetaplot. There's a lot of weird in the WOD but good point on the Daeva.

Just a fun fact. The word akasha is neither an Egyptian or Uruk term. In Indian religion it refers roughly to what western cosmologists would think of as aether, the empty stuff that fills the spirit world. It is derived from a Telugu term meaning aether, sky, the atmosphere or, ahem, things that are empty and vacuous. The Telugu language is spoken in southwestern India, including the historic region that had included the Kingdom of Qutb Shahi, the capitol of which was... wait for it... Golkonda (aka Golla Konda aka "shepherd's hill") Could this imply yet another line founded and abandoned by Saulot? For that matter a Ravnos origin, and the VtDA 20 Ravnos weakness, could work well in place of the Toreador weakness. Lestat's compulsion would be using beautiful people to make his life easier, Claudia's was feeding inappropriately, and Louis' was whining. Mon dieu, the whining!
