  • Ceilican Bastet

I'm just less than a week away from starting a CtD20 campaign, and, while 99% of it is purely changeling-related, one of the big bads is strange sidhe wild hunter with pooka huntsmen and enchanted Earthly hunting hounds---and a single Ceilican werecat as bodyguard/concubine.

This Arcadian sidhe has come to Earth on an even bigger bad's order. He and his Ceilican have been in Arcadia for centuries.

Statting the wild hunter isn't going to be s problem...the Ceilican is. I want to give him Backgrounds, Gifts, rites, Merits and Flaws that reflect his long exile in Arcadia.

He is NOT a fae/Bastet hybrid. He is fully Ceilican, made using WtA20 rules. He's just been in a very alien realm for a very long time.

Anyone have any ideas how to mechanically represent this Ceilican's backstory?

I think it depends on what books you have. Possibilities include:
    no Den-Realm, or Jamak
probably no Resources unless they sell something from Arcadia - and even then, it's not an income
no fetishes or talens, but may have Treasures
Secrets - lots of secrets about the Arcadian Fae
    Touched (Wyld) might be appropriate

This Ceilican will have the old Yava, not the new ones.

    Merits:
Code of Honor to obey the Escheat, or whatever inhuman rules the Arcadian's House has
Daredevil, if they're used to storybook logic in every day events, and this somehow helps them
Faerie Affinity (from M20 Book of Secrets)
    Supernatural Companion (representing the Sidhe)

    Flaws:
Ability Deficit ("What's a refrigerator?") or use just Dark Ages Abilities
Adrenaline Addict (from Ratkin) or Sensation Junkie (from Bastet) Life in Arcadia was probably exciting. Life in the World of Darkness is banal.
Deranged (any sort of delusion or behavior conditioned by living in another world where reality goes by different "rules")
Disconcerting (from Bastet) they're not part Fae, but they're still weird
Geas (to represent any Oaths they are somehow bound to)
Inappropriate (from M20 Book of Secrets) because behavioral norms in Arcadia... aren't normal on Earth
Nameless (from VTDA20) Because they have no stolen human life, no legal identity, no papers, no birth certificate ... nothing. This is a -5 point Flaw but you could instead make them Arcane in Mage terms.

She/Her. I am very literal-minded and write very literally. If I don't say something explicitly, please never assume I implied it. The only exception is if I try to joke.
My point of view may be different from yours but is equally valid.
Exalted and cWoD book list. Exalted name-generators, Infernal and 1E-2.5E homebrew from many authors.

He’s Rank 1, as Renown is hard to come by, in Arcadia. That being said, what Gifts and Rites should I give him? strange magic is what I’m looking for, more in the form of Rites than Gifts. It doesn’t matter what FERA the Rites come from, as the Ceilican learnt them from drinking from an enchanted Arciadian well.

Oh man. You might want to use Sorcery for that, if you have a book for it. (The M20 Sorcerer book just came out on Storyteller's Vault.) I think nearly all the published Rites are for Garou. I don't know how strange any of them are.

I’d rather not use Hedge magic. I mean, if I have to, yeah, but still.

It's not Modern period, but you might want to have a look at the Ceilican Tribebook.

Explore the Savage Age of Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Tribebook: Wlewa rivals to the Garou Nation.
