  • Dopplegangers can see the Living ones?

The corebook say that specters cannot see mortals in shadowlands, but I was wondering if maybe for dopplegangers it's different since they're still very similar to wraiths.

It's not that Spectres can't see mortals; it's that they normally can only see the worst, most decayed and corrupted parts of mortals, the force of Oblivion lurking in them. So, yes, that means mortals are more or less invisible, but a spectre can work at glimpsing them: "The Shadow-Eaten move through a barren wasteland with only the faintest hints of the mortal world." Here, "faint" does not mean nonexistent.

Spectre's version of Deathsight is easier to use, which can help them track mortals through the trail of Oblivion they give off. Shroudrend is a whole Arcanos designed to let Spectres perceive events in the Skinlands and mortals. Doppelgangers can conceivably prefer to specialize in that power, since their description says that they are "also responsible for furthering the stain of Oblivion among the Quick". They're said to share wraiths' penchant for frequenting Skinland haunts. There's a whole faction of Doppelgangers who focus on controlling mortals with Puppetry, proving that even if they can't see mortals, they can still walk around as them and see through their eyes.
