  • Wraith and "Meaty" Foes...?

Is pretty easy to figure plots about wars between Wraith's factions. But what if the enemy lives in the "skinland"? What if a Wraith want to keep safe her beloved daughter from a misleading vampire? How the Wraith can fight it?

A number of Arcanoi could be used in a number of ways to do it, depending on how you want to handle it. There are several that could be used to scare off or even harm the vampire, others that could be used to try and convince the girl to stay away.

Use Inhabit to sabotage items in the vamp's possession. Outrage to trash his haven. Haunt his waking hours with Pandemonium. Ride someone with Puppetry to interfere with the vampire. With Phantasm, the wraith could interact in a fashion with their daughter as she slept.

Then there is the path of the Risen, allowing the wraith to directly intervene in the matter.

Homo sapiens. What an inventive, invincible species. It's only a few million years since they crawled up out of the mud and learned to walk. Puny, defenceless bipeds. They've survived flood, famine and plague. They've survived cosmic wars and holocausts. And now, here they are, out among the stars, waiting to begin a new life. Ready to outsit eternity. They're indomitable. Indomitable.

A player in my troupe had a character concept that heavily involved Skinlands interaction. The concept was a cross between Eric Draven and Blade, but as a Wraith (not a Risen or a vampire). Embody was his best friend. It was a great moment in the story when he finally tracked down the vampire that killed him, confronted him across the Shroud (via Embody), and sent him to Final Death using a Stygian steel sword.

This is what happens when an Abyssal Exalted ends up in H.o.L.
(Also known as "Derpwraith" and "PretentiousFontsGuy

Can Stygian steel hurt something across the Shroud even if it's being used by a wraith that's materialized?

Well, for one thing, almost no one wards against wraiths any more. That means a wraith can easily spy on the mob, politicians, vampires . . .

Couple that access with any of the Arcanoi that access the Skinland (say Puppetry), and you can wreak havoc on said vampire:
          • Leak his secrets to his enemies
          • Put out an "all points bulletin" for the vampire, listing him as an "active shooter"
          • Steal a wrecking ball, and send it flying through his lair
          • Add his name to the local sex offender's registry
          • Arrange for him to be audited
          • Embezzle all the money from his bank accounts
          • Use those embezzled funds to hire mercenaries/assassins to kill said vampire
          • Force drivers to run him over in the street
          • Possess his servants, and try to make them stake said vampire in his sleep (or at least set fire to the building)
With the right powers, a wraith makes the ultimate saboteur and guerilla fighter. And many of them literally "live" for revenge.

And also, anomalously, the ability to learn Obfuscate and physical Disciplines.

              Officially? No idea.
My troupe always ruled that relics and artifacts in a wraith's possession cross the shroud with her.
In this game, that Stygian steel sword had some extra significance. The vengeance-seeking character put in a lot of time and effort to discover A) Stygian steel could kill a vampire and B) a way to actually get said weapon. It was the natural conclusion for the story.
