  • What to do with beats and xp in a oneshot?

Hi my question is as the title says.
I am preparing for a changeling one shot in a few weeks but i feel that this question can touch on multiple gamelines.

Initially i was thinking of simply ignoring beats and xp but a lot of mechanics (mainly but not limited to conditions) use beats as ways to incentivise players advancing the story.
So im wondering if there is a way to use beats/xp.
Im thinking allowing it to be spent at any tine instead of between arcs.
Or maybe picking specific places in the one shot when the players can spend them.
Or are there ideas for allowing xp to be spent for temporary advantages?

What have people done in such an instance?

    Thank you for your help

Mage 2e's sidebar on The Beat Economy (p84) has this bit:

If you’re only playing a single-session game, Beats aren’t nearly as useful as in an extended game. In these cases, any time the player would get a Beat, instead give them a token. This token can be cashed in to replenish a Willpower point, to offer 8-Again on a single roll, or to add a single success in a Contested action.

If you're going to play with all of those players in other games, you can allow them to transfer any earned Beats (including Beats from unresolved Conditions) at the end of the one-shot to a longer game.
