  • LGBTQ+ in CofD games

We have written 3 games corebooks for 2ED WoD ( or 4, depends on how we look on Beast ). Very nice for the Onyx Path is that they push inclusion in their games in small, nice refereances in games about non-heteronormative characters. This topic is about collecting them all, for the LGBT+ players and STs glory - because it's Pride Month!

So I will start with two mine favorites:
    • Beast: The Primoridal - Character Concepts - p. 87 - “IT manager by day, drag king by night” - It hits me very hard, in positive sense, as myself bisex bear IT Technician. Also, this lady will have hands full on - work on day, drag by night and Horror in the dreams?!
    • Werewolf: The Forsaken 2ED - Touchtones, example - p. 87 - "Example: Picture the dedicated police officer married to his job. He wants to propose to his boyfriend, but it’s just not fair. He’s never home. He’s always in danger. And it’s not like he can just give up the job; it’s who he is. The boyfriend is close enough to touch, but too far to hold. " - It's just so good love story idea, highlighting the topics of Werewolf. With a very nice, gay spin. I love it!

Personally, I've found the Rick & Alessandro's fiction as intriguing, and I've also liked the Requiem's 2nd edition's Touchstone references.

Oh yes, I loved that. Rocked so damn hard. I remember a drag show that I went to, and there was only one King there. He went up, all cocky and smirking (with an awesome goatee and sideburns, I must add), adjusting his bulge on the way. He performed a Lil' John song, and at the end he raised his arms and swept them out, making it rain fake $100 bills on the first couple rows, like it was a magic trick. Like, no one saw that coming, it was spectacular. Needless to say, he won.

So now, I want to post the details of my favorite PC, from my favorite game, Hunter:the Vigil.
Concept: Ex SWAT Officer/Drag Queen Diva
Description: Standing tall at 6'8" and holding herself with the posture not just of a trained runway model, but of a natural athlete, Anita Shot is a drag queen with a resume as strong as her baritone singing voice. Possessing angular, masculine features and a hardened, lean figure devoid of fat, and accentuating her strengths with dozens of wigs and loud outfits, and not a single one of them has sleeves. On her left arm is a proudly displayed tattoo of a SWAT badge. On her right arm is an older Army Rangers tattoo.

She is also an avid gun collector, and her Youtube channel "Anita Shot's Big Girls' Survival Guide" has a large collection of videos teaching proper gun care, handling, and cleaning on a variety of different weapons. She just got sponsored, and her merchandise has finally begun to sell. The money goes back into the community. And since the accident that retired her, she has become aware of deeply rooted, frightening problems that lurk in the community she has served in the past as a police officer, and has come to the conclusion that this community needs her more than she ever knew.

Away from the internet and out of the clubs, Anita Shot's alter ego, former police officer William Fletch enjoys his free time while not-so-secretly pining for his days before retirement. Still tight with local law enforcement, he is thought of as a hero cop. Anita was around long before he ever left(though not nearly as popular as she is now), and no one bats an eye at his eccentric, glittery persona.

Beast actually has quite a few LGBTQ references in it... which may be part of the reason why it got the "SJW Front!" backlash from some morons... anyway. Taking from the 99% review doc, but I don't recall seeing any of these edited out in the revamp drafts on the Patreon page:

          * Page 50: Sample Nemesis Jess is a genderqueer Eshmaki Nemesis.

          * Page 51: Patrick & Ahmed are a homosexual male couple of Namtaru Beasts (one Collector, one Punisher).

          * Page 134: The example of a High Satiety Hoarder feeding mentions a male homosexual Beast trying to find a very specific sort of man to be his lover.

          Some Mummy examples I've noticed:
          * Book of the Deceived, Page 123: Najaulla-Sen The Merciful One is a female Deceived mentioned as having spent her last incarnation as a male, during which time she suffered from gender dysphoria.

          * Book of the Deceived, Page 124: The Deceived Kefershaitain Stained Hands is genderqueer due to indifference.

          * Cursed Necropolis D.C, Page 56: Hebeny The Bull of Bennu is a FtM transsexual who struggles with the fact that low Memory allows his sahu to show his true gender, whilst higher Memory forces him back to his birth gender.

Loli from Geist core and King Queen Jackie Snow from the Fear Makers promise, and the various stuff about Rebuses in Promethian are the only canonical examples I remember off the top of my head but I'm sure there's more.

In Princess the Queen of Swords is canonically bisexual. There's also a Condition for body dysmorphia that I wrote to support trans characters; while I thought up the Embarrassing Phylactery condition for characters in the metaphorical closet (both ended up in a more general form). There'd be more if the number of Princess characters in the book ever climbed above zero.

The Staff of Janus believe that being trans is one path to hidden wisdom most people cannot reach - so they have a lot of trans members. Dream Catchers also mentions that Goblin Markets are an alternative to sexual reassignment surgery.

Also, Hunter's Dark Era in Japan is going to present a compact of male escorts, which I think are tied to the Kagema of the time (there aren't much details about them, so I can't say for sure)

And of course, the Luna's embrace gift.

I actually have a concept for a wealthy lesbian ivory claw noble (lodge of kings) couple (who obviously call the gift something else) who used that gift to have children that were both of their's (they took turns being the impregnator and pregnant one).

I actually really want to explore how the claws handle LGBTQA (don't forget us asexuals, my allo friends) issues, since I imagine that the generation gap on marriage and family issues is tearing that tribe apart.

Speaking of asexuals and ivory claws, I can't help but remember my character concept from our Wod High school discussion, If only we had managed to get an ST.

Was planing to explore it more in mine games also, on Forsaken side - but how the Pure would call Luna's Embrace with their hate to Moon Goddess? Wolf's Drag?

I use Q as Queer in general - I could write all the alphabet of verious orientation or psychosexual identietis each times I mentione community as general, I just use five of them as short. In Poland our associations fighting for equal rights are using now LGBTQIA and I thing it is a bit tring to hard.

So anyone's identity not mention by me in discussion - I'm not limited, I know there are very much more variants of human sexuality and I support you all in your decent living and equality in eyes of law . I just will stick to five letters for abrive to ALL non-heteronormatives, for discussion simplisity.

As to Ivory Claws - would the explore the Luna's Embrace before last 50 decades where LGBTQ come in to global awareness? I think that Hindu Claws could explor this kind of things in the Hijra caste.

In Blood and Smoke (page 88), the "Friends with Benefits" example touchstone mentions "you" and a male friend sucking each other off, which to me implies two sets of male genitalia. Feel free to correct me if you know how to suck off a bio girl. :P

On the following page, the term "her wife" is used to refer to the "Victim's Lover" example touchstone.

There's also "Mrs. Robinson" from the Mission (page 259), who frequented the 1970's gay club scene as "Angelo Pascual." The entry on her is vague enough for you to draw your own conclusions, but if she's the creator of the "Mixtape" from the Daeva book, she had at least one romantic relationship with a mortal woman whom she embraced. I like to imagine that she looks like Annie Lennox, but maybe dresses like Bowie's Thin White Duke. :P

EDIT: Upon a quick review of the Mixtape, I don't think it's made explicit what gender "Em" identifies as. They are primarily sexually interested in men ("skinny, long-hair types"), and the creator of the tape suggests that they try to seduce married men, which to me implies that "Em" is most likely a woman, but that isn't necessarily the case. Also, I just noticed that the Mixtape mentions the web, so it's obviously not as old as I thought it might be, and may well not be one of Mrs. Robinson's.

On a related note, as lots of my current GM writing has been taken up with the creation of villains and adversaries for my Mage 2nd Ed campaign, I've been considering the ways in which homophobia and other such related human ills have their place in the game. Some of this relates to issues like how to portray homophobic NPCs and whether homophodic PCs should ever be allowed, etc.

Other issues I've been considering relate to how the homophobia has a place within the Fallen World. Obviously, Mage is a world of supernal symbols and their mysterious interactions within it, so homophobia is obviously going to be a potent supernal symbol along with tyranny, oppression, etc.

Hence the question is: does homophobia have a place within the Exarch's plan for humanity. I like the idea that homophobia, transphobia, and hatred for the different and deviant are ways in which the Exarchs divide and rule humanity; one of the myriad ways in which they keep humans at each other throats, reduced to a state of constant strife. There may even possibly be an Exarch/Seal devoted to the symbol itself, perhaps something like 'The Purity' - a symbol of unrelenting Natural Order and the Purity,Stagnation of Natural Law, Its Total and Unchanging Dominion Over All Life - the Eradication of the Deviant and the Unclean. Obviously this symbol has echoes in Eugenics and racial purity, and nasty connections with Nazism and the like. (As you can see, I like my Exarch and the Seers by extension as villains pure and simple, at least conceptually). This raises the opposite idea that the LGBTQ movement and its symbols are also powerful supernal symbols set up by the Oracles!

Is not the general preview of Unity Iron Seal? Her mission is to make everyone the same once mass, without variants. I think that LGBTQ movement is here that same way as racial equality was previously.

Diving humanity by making them hate each other and fear other groups who are different from them? The sounds like something the General would do. Sure, big wars is where you can see Her hand the most easily, but every big war starts from a small strife- that the other person is different, and posses a threat to your righteous way of life.
