  • Lair Trait issues

Since to impose Lair Traits by recreating similarity with a Chamber seems terribly difficult (and the rules to do so or open a pathway a confusing, contradictory mess, as noted and discussed in other threads), it seems a clever strategy for a Beast or Brood would be to have a few Lair Traits that are relatively easy to re-create by mundane means and may act as a 'gateway' of sorts to impose other Traits that are powerful and useful by rare or difficult to find in the physical world. Possilbe example include: Burning (be an arsonist), Downpour (use sprinklers), Electrified (rip power cables), Poor Light (relatively easy to create indoors), Stench (use stink bombs), and Stinging (use pepper spray or tear gas). Probably there are other options about this I can't think of at the moment.

Also let's assume a Brood or elder Beast have a well-developed Lair (network), with several Traits, some of them potentially incompatible or contradictory. In the Primordial Dream it is all good, thanks to the flexibility of dream logic and different Traits manifesting in different Chambers. E.g. you may have a Chamber that is a volcanic hellhole with burning lava, steam, and toxic fumes, another that is an arctic glacier with broken terrain and blizzards, and a third that is a landscape swept by earthquakes, thunderstorms, and mighty winds. When a Beast or Brood attempt to manifest multiple Traits of their Lair(s) that are incompatible or contradictory by mundane physics, what happens ? Does some sort of contest happens and the strongest compatible Trait(s) only manifests, or the magic of the Primordial Dream trumps mundane science and all Traits manifest at once, regardless of their compatibility, and somehow co-exist ?

Hang out around places that share a description with your Chambers, keep methods of applying your Lair Traits close to hand, and use Nightmares keyed off of your stronger Attributes at high Satiety (possibly adding the Expenditure effects of modifier-Nightmares like You Can't Wake Up or You Are Infected) or break out the breaking point fodder.

It's exactly as difficult as you'd expect forming an echo of a circumstance that you can take advantage of once per story to be.

(and the rules to do so or open a pathway a confusing, cotradictoary mess, as discussed in other threads)
The rules to do so are perfectly straightforward; all the mess has been concerning whether those rules actually interact with the Pathway mechanics.

That's literally how it's supposed to work — why do you think one of your starting Traits has to be minor?

Traits are not always or even often uniform qualities of a location — manifesting widely divergent stage hazards only really necessitates that they be given space to play out.
