What exactly differentiates them from anakim? What about their horrors, sound pretty similar to Ingumas.

Talassii are the nightmares of confinement as opposed to the Anakim who are the nightmares of hopelessness. There is potential for overlap there, but they aren't strictly the same. One can be confined, but still have hope and one can be hopeless whilst unconfined. Anakim are the unstoppable forces, the thing that your only hope for surviving is that it doesn't come near you or decides it doesn't wish to kill you. Talassii, you're chained up in a basement, you're in jail, you're in a system of tunnels that are pressing on you.

Now as for the Inguma, well the Inguma are the fear of the outsider or others. You know your neighbors and your friends they aren't chaining you up in a basement for their insane purposes, that new guy on the block though, you haven't met them yet. They keep to themselves, you don't know anything about them. They might very well chain you up in their basement for whatever insane reasons they have and who knows what they'll do to you.

In the simplest terms: One is a giant the other is a spider. The giant is coming through that wall. The spider is laying a trap outside the door for you to step in.

Alternatively, the Anakim is the judge and jury who decides your fate, while the Talassi is the warden in charge of the prison complex.

Thanks guys. Now about the horror itself? It's described as also capable of being pretty human like

Makes sense, as from what I understand, they were born to be jailors. You could have a Talassi who takes the form of a kidnapper, grabbing people off the street and locking them away inside their custom designed labyrinths. You get across the fear of confinement, without them having to be some kind of spooky monster.

So what would separate them from inguna horrors when talassi ones are more humanoid? Does the book go in depth about their ancient anathema

If I remember right Talassi can be more then just humanoid, there basically any monster that imprison and confine someone. I think I remember being a princess kidnapping dragon as an option

To be more specific (still appreciate the answer though) what would be key differences between humanoid talassi and inguna horrors

Inguma represent the fear of the outsider, that alien thing that does not belong with the rest of the group.

They are the embodiment of xenophobia, which actually leaves the game wide open for all forms of bigotry and intolerance.

Irony: this is exactly what's happening in my current game for an NPC trio. The third is the sheriff who is an Ugallu.

Not to mention Inugami are just other or alien, they can look like some fear based on racial or ethnic threat. They can look like a humanoid thing like the rake, slender man, or some uncanny valley monster. Then finally they could just be freaking eldritch horrors straight out of lovecraftian mythos. They aren't restricted like that.

Taalassii are just confinement, I think one of the later examples in the player's guide of a nightmare being created mentions the Talassii beast's Horror is called the chain shark.

Why does that sound like a professional wrestling move!?

From the top of my head:
Some possible Talassii horrors would be a spider, a dragon, a faery king or queen, a witch, a cyclops, a troll, an uncanny valley corrupt corporate executive... anything that 'chains you down' in some shape or form.
As long as imprisonment is a theme, it's fair game.
Just like a dragon can be Anakim, Eshmaki, Ugallu, Makara, or Namtaru, depending on your focus, themes are more important than just appearance.

So the key difference between humanoid Inguma and Talassii would be the Inguma looking off in some way, strange, alien. Wrong shade or colour of skin (pale white, blue, green, translucent, iridescent...), unnatural eyes (Atavistic, red iris, black scelera, cross-shaped pupils, Sharingan, whathaveyou), unnatural hair (think Zerg-Kerrigan for example), limbs or other features that are somehow off (too long arms, lack of facial features) jumbled limbs (switch legs and arms for example) and corresponding movements that are just wrong.

The Talassii is less clear-cut, but something about him has to carry the idea of confinement: a tree-person, a spider-hybrid, maybe a king with a broken crown, or some other sort of authority. I imagine prison wards, asylum docs and the like to show up quite a bit.
Plant-life can give you ideas: Venus-fly trap and other carnivorous plants seem practically MADE for the Talassii Horror.
You could have very strong people, e.g. bodybuilders and wrestlers, whose ability to keep you in their grip is strengthened: extremely large hands, spiked hands, multiple hands...
On the opposite, 'children' might qualify, too, especially if the horror is some sort of baby that 'chains you down' by having you unable to leave it alone - or live with the guilty conscience abandoning a baby brings with it. Make it look extra sickly, then add some other horror template (Witcher's botchling, anyone?)

You could go the Anakim's 'force of nature' route and have a 'unsatisfying dead-end job' as a Horror as well, I guess.

One other suggestion for Talassii (I kinda need to get the Player's handbook so just going from the Descriptions here) Perhaps "Mary" from Silent Hill 2 could be one... She in Life represented not being able to move on, being unable to let go and having to stay with her. She was Bed Ridden, unable to care for herself. Then comes the End of SH2... and she becomes..

A Nightmarish creature that floats around and attacks with it's Tongue....
