  • [Homebrew] Pseudo Y Splats For Beasts

The "Y Splat" is a Beast equivalent of Unchained Agencies. This is because Beasts are too personal in their approach to monsterkind to function as global conspiracies and such. These groups would be called Menageries and would perform equivalent functions in Beast society. In other words, they are extensive conglomerations and coalitions of various Broods which unite in specific locations and periods under a common cause. An ideal Menagerie sets out to do the following:
    • Teach specific Lessons to the populace and write a collective Legend. The combination of such Lessons and Legends is called a Mythology, which informs the Mythological Condition (see 2 examples below).
    • Guide each Brood on how to best adapt to, cooperate with and thrive among their Kin. This would be influenced by the Apex, who would get to pick and choose which Broods receive the best guidance.
    • Provide a supportive yet competitive environment that encourages individual Beasts to find an Inheritance most suitable for them. The most common goal is Incarnation, but there are many other forms (such as the Totemic Inheritance, written by espritdecalmar).
    Primordial Scholars (When In Rome)
Effect: When researching, investigating or otherwise exploring the lore and traditions of his Kin, the Beast scores Exceptional Success with 3 Successes.

Beat: The Beast attracts hostile attention from those who wish to prevent him from delving any further or revealing what he has already discovered.

Resolution: The Beast Feeds his Hunger for the purposes of giving concrete evidence that he has the necessary respect for and understanding of the ideas and beliefs of his Kin. He foregoes the usual roll for Satiety Potential but scores automatic Successes equal to [Academics/Occult/Investigation]. Alternatively, he can use the Satiety Expenditure Effect of an Atavism, Nightmare or Kinship Ability without actually spending 1 Satiety, as long as it is for the aforementioned purposes. This Condition returns at the beginning of the next Chapter.

Abominable Divinities (A Monster That You Kneel To)
Effect: When guiding, commanding or expanding his Primordial Cult, the Beast achieves Exceptional Success with 3 Successes.

Beat: The activities of the Cultists attract the hostile attention of Heroes or other monsters who oppose the influence of the Primordial Cult.

Resolution: The Beast Feeds his Hunger for the purposes of working dark miracles, inspiring religious awe or otherwise reaffirming his godhood. He foregoes the usual roll for Satiety Potential but scores automatic Successes equal to [Expression/Intimidation/Occult]. Alternatively, he can use the Satiety Expenditure Effect of an Atavism, Nightmare or Kinship Ability without actually spending 1 Satiety, as long as it is for the aforementioned purposes. This Condition returns at the beginning of the next Chapter.

Visceral Entertainers (The Greatest Show Unearthed)
Effect: When trying to understand and captivate an audience, prepare and advertise a show, or otherwise provide clandestine products and services based on fear, the Beast achieves Exceptional Success with 3 Successes.

Beat: Your shows leave behind incriminating evidence that attracts hostile attention from Heroes. Alternatively, the shows work too well and drive people toward obsessively seeking encores from you.

Resolution: The Beast Feeds his Hunger for the purposes of giving performances, spectacles or entertainment. He foregoes the usual roll for Satiety Potential but scores automatic Successes equal to [Expression/Empathy/Subterfuge]. Alternatively, he can use the Satiety Expenditure Effect of an Atavism, Nightmare or Kinship Ability without actually spending 1 Satiety, as long as it is for the aforementioned purposes. This Condition returns at the beginning of the next Chapter.

Definitely an interesting idea, though it could use some expansion, such as different types of Menageries. Also, what sort of effect would such organisations have on both the ‘local’ part of the Primordial Dream (as much as any part of it can be considered ‘local’), the various Inheritances, the Horrors of the Begotten, their Lairs and so on? And how could those of the Begotten with Cults justify such an organisation to their followers, if the latter had such information.
