  • Object transformation in Arcadia

Hey if a Changeling was turned into an object like a Guillotine, or a computer, or something similarly non-uniform. What Seeming would they be do you think?

I would say Elemental, with a Kith related to their function and secondary regalia as Jewel.

Depends on the purpose of said object: A guillotine would make a good argument for Ogre, while a car might end up as a Beast. A mirror used by a True Fae to gaze at its own beauty every day could go as either Fairest or Darkling depending on how you angled it. And so on. In a place like Arcadia, object-hood is little obstacle to agency, after all.

You would probably end up looking a bit like an anthropomorphic representation of that object to some extent once you escaped, whatever Seeming it gave you. What that means is up to the player

Honestly, I think Kith is more important for what object a Changeling might have been in Arcadia than what Seeming they are once they’re in the mundane realm. Seeming can be determined based on what they did to escape, what they were in Arcadia or how they live their lives after escaping, so the question of What Seeming Fits is... a little redundant.

Unless this is all meant to be pre escape?

An example of this exact thing: My old character, Lisette Bolden, was basically an arc light for her Keeper. She became an Elemental with her Mien based on this image.

As basically bottled lightning, Elemental was by far the most fitting Seeming for this particular character. Objects based around energy in some way generally lends very well to Elementals.
Works of art (statues, paintings, autonomous musical players or instruments) would often be more suitable for Fairest. Often, but far from always, since a statue which is supposed to be intimidating might instead be an Ogre (or a Beast if it's a statue of an animal, or an Elemental if the focus is the statue's material nature), and a painting that acts as a conversationalist/adviser could fit basically any Seeming depending on what's discussed.
A mirror could, as mentioned above, be a Fairest who reflects beauty, a Darkling who disguises themselves by reflecting others or tricks others by reflecting false information or acts as a spy by reflecting hidden information, an Elemental of light whose reflective surface can blind whoever sees them, or a Wizened who reflects the most likely outcome of a plan to help strategise.
