  • Need help with a Goblin

So I have been having this idea for a Hobgoblin antagonist that was born from a child's fear of explosions and war from watching the news and similar. Basically what I am trying to come up with are good explosions themed goblin contracts, and could use help with the system for this .

    Roar of Ai-Laau (Goblin)

The fae calls out to the ancient kupua of Kilauea, said to have been an ancient changeling whose deeds are shrouded in mystery. This causes an object to violently explode with tremendous force.

    Cost: 2 Glamour
    Dice Pool: N/A
    Action: Reflexive

Effects: Once per turn, the fae can touch a non-magical object and spend the Glamour cost, causing it to violently explode with the same force as a heavy frag grenade. This can be applied to an object being carried or worn by someone else, but requires a roll of Dexterity + Brawl - target’s Defense. However, since nothing protects the user from being hit by the explosion, most prefer to use throwing weapons instead, since there is just enough time to throw it. The fae can affect objects up to [Wyrd] in size.

Elemental: Devastation always follows the wake of a volcano. Those more attuned to the natural forces can spend an additional Glamour to set both themselves and whoever is hit by the explosion on fire, a blaze with the intensity of a torch fire.

Loophole: The fae is currently afflicted with the Extreme Heat tilt.

Observation: Solf F. Kimblee from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brootherhood is a good source of inspiration on how this Contract can be used creatively.

Observation 2: Additional sources of inspiration for Goblin Contracts could be the abilities of Karasu (Yu Yu Hakusho) and Genthru (Hunter X Hunter)

The Szary Strażnik, an Obrimos Legacy whose invisible hands guide through the Glyphs of Fate (Fate/Prime)

If you can use it with thrown weapons, I assume that you can delay the explosion for enough time to throw it, right?

Yep, its why its a reflexive action. That way its just as fast as using a normal grenade, but with more flexibility in the means of delivery. However, it does not allow you to, for example, setup an entire room of objects to explode.

It should still probably say something about the minute delay. Current wording sounds like it explodes as soon as you touch it.

Very cool, but why did you added the Seeming benefit?

The kupua that inspired the theme was known as the forest eater, a spirit of volcanoes and lava. So it seemed thematic to give some extra feature to the most aligned Seeming.

I also edited in the clarification on throwing weapons.

                Bomber's Countdown (Goblin)

A fae contract said to have been originally bargained for by Lost working as combat engineers in WW1. It was created to allow them to deal with the dangers of sapping and tunneling, allowing them to both have a powerful offensive weapon in clustered environments and never be trapped by a collapsing tunnel. In modern times, its usually a very bad sign when a Lost is in need of this much firepower and is willing to pay a goblin's price for it.

                Cost: 2 Glamour
                Dice Pool: Intelligence + Crafts
                Action: Instant

Effect: The fae creates a high explosive in their hand, with an active timer, set for up to [Wyrd] minutes. The minimum countdown is one minute. The fae can detonate it remotely with an instant action by spending an equal amount of Glamour as the timer has minutes left (or 1 point if there is less than a minute left).

Loophole: A lighter with the fae's calling card carved into it.
