  • 101 Story Hooks

I always loved these sort of threads back on the main board. So lets get one started here. I'll start!

    1. The border was always unstable really, where the City met the Woods. Not politically, no, but something was lurking there. The Summer Court was always there to keep everyone safe. Now, they are gone. No warning, No bloodshed, just gone. The entire Court, gone without a trace, and with them gone, something is stirring. Something really, really big; but what could take an entire Court?

    2. The Scarecrow Ministry had always been big in Salem, but this is just Madness. Ichabod had always been a bit odd, maybe a bit low on Clarity, but he was good at his job. Now though, he's gone nuts, and taken the whole damn Ministry with him, into his insane song and dance. Now, people are vanishing, and the Thorns are shifting with an almost hungry quality, and in the middle of it all, the King of Crows sits and watches. Waiting, like a carrion bird before a battle.

    3. The Lost Girls Motley are a legend in changeling circles. Some say that they are the greatest talecrafters the world has ever seen, others that they are so attuned to the workings of fate that they can see past, present and future all at the same time. Guy didn't think very much of those stories, right up until the three of them appeared to him in the Hedge and prophesised that he would be King of the Winter Court before the Solstice.

4 - After a long battle, the king of spring has been deposed from his throne. He was abusive of moogles, forcing them to act on their true desires, cheating changeling to act on their impulses - because Spring said so.
The once king has been imprisoned and rejected by the Court. But his Crown does not fade, and - even if all the Court is against him, he still has the favour of Spring. What will the Freehold do? Try to kill him, even if this may mean going against the wishes of Spring? Just wait, and put a Council, or a Fake King to rule the Court? Or try to surpass him in his quest for "desire"?

        5. So this month the raven population in town seems to be increasing, and just last week they started saying Nevermore when in the presence of the Lost as if they can see past the Mask.

        6. Changelings know that have a doppelganger called a Fetch, but something is strange about this Freehold. For some reason there appears to be third individuals claiming the identity of the Fetchs/Lost.

It is a time for great deeds!

A member of the Gentry wants to kill two birds with one stone by starting a gang war between changelings and werewolves.

            8. Something sleeps underneath the main hub for this freehold's Autumn Court. It's starting to wake up.

            9. Will o' the Wisps keep appearing in town.At first it was harmless, but widely talked about. It's a nice little fun thing people see. But when the Will o' the Wisps start leading people into the hedge very frequently, the news flares up on disappearances, people begin to panic at the sign of anything slightly weird. It needs to be put to an end, fast.

                11. A child-like Fae has found a group in their part of the Hedge, and seems infatuated with more thematic retro video games. How will they cope in this bizarre world with its own physics and rules? And how will they escape?

                12. Come one, come all, to the traveling fair! There's danger and excitement everywhere! There's room to join if you dare! Willing or not, we don't care!

                  13. You're in a goblin market. A merchant says 'this concludes our deal.' You have no idea what he's talking about. In fact, there's a few days missing from your memory. Should you pursue the goblin, he simply says that this is exactly what you wanted.

                    14. The Lucretia club, the most elite Spring Court dining club in the city, has always been known for its exotic fares, and has formally offered an invitation to a member of the Motley, with one price; to bring them the main ingredient for the club's next anniversary meal, and they want haunch of Briarwolf.

Maybe your fetch has made a deal with that goblin and when he sees you he thinks: "Oh, well, here is the boy!" And then he tells you that... What could a fetch want?

That's interesting but changelings have Meins while fetches don't.

                              OH, you are bloody right...

                              15. A big boss of Autum's Court is dealing with dangerous witches/mages to improve her skills. Maybe is preparing a strike to other Court or she wants to help another changeling, but these people are very dangerous.
