  • touch attacks

In the 2nd ed rule book, touch attacks do not have an opponent's defense subtracted. The first edition rule book says defense is subtracted. Players are arguing on the specifics. I figure that if a target sees you attempting to touch them, they will actively not try to be touched (defense applied). It really seems common sense to me, but the wording in the 2nd ed rule book seems to be specific compared to a strength + brawl attack. What do you all think? As trivial as it sounds.

"Touching a Target: Dexterity + Brawl or Dexterity + Weaponry; armor may or may not apply, but Defense does apply."

Page 91 in Chronicles of Darkness. They just didn't write out that Defense applies when touching in the Touching an Opponent section because it's already been written earlier in the chapter that Defense applies on melee attacks (of which touch attacks are a variation).
