    Higher arcana doesn’t really mean higher complexity though, Reach is what determines complexity.

      Sure, and Mages get free reach dependant on the level of the spell compared to their arcana. That indicates that higher dot spells are more complex.

            And their dice bonus is completely immaterial to that requirement, even without getting into the fact that Sympathetic Range is an Attainment rather than a spell. Spells that use Runes to boost their effectiveness require a Yantra as well, but that's because of how that individual spell has been constructed — you could still cast the spell no-frills without needing to leverage any particular act or reagent.
