  • Starry A'aru

So it seems the fields of A'aru are barren ; why, do you imagine? Why does A'aru stand apart from world, empty and desolate? Why is it decreed that men shall go there after dying, if they are worthy?

Perhaps the Sekhem of the world (or at least of the worthy) is supposed to be nourishing it, but the perversion of the Shan'iatu's purpose has prevented so much of it from reaching A'aru?

    Female pronouns for me, please.

That'd suck for the Shan'iatu, seeing as they want Sekhem from the world so they can gain enough power to reach it.

Let's ask this: if Duat is one of the Lower Depths then wha is A'aru?

        I'm curious about that, myself.

It's also a Lower Depth. If Duat is off the map, A'aru is doubly so.

            So, sub-basement, then?

It's right next to the Empyrean, of course!

Considering how it's supposed to be a paradise, that makes sense.

Of course as far as I'm concerned, the Empyrean is just another Lower Depth, but one that's fed by inculcating virtue rather than vice.

I like the implications of that, too, but I also have to wonder what the Supernal must be like when you're a native of a Lower Depth. Clearly just because A'aru is barren doesn't mean it's unfulfilling

You, know, if I'm honest, I found A'aru simple, not barren.

In what way? And, as a reaction to what particular reference?

I'm not sure what you mean. I do know that Dreams of Avarice has an account supposedly written by Sutekh himself that says twice that the fields of A'aru are barren, and that the Scroll of Ages will tell you why.

In regards to Dreams of Avarice.

Gimme a second, need to search/reread the Heretic's experience.
