  • The Ash that Devours Vs Surgical heart Removal.

    Was wondering Idly

Which method of surviving Final death is preferable

Ash that devours, depends a lot on your remains being undisturbed.

Surgical heart removal needs done a day or two before your suicide mission.

    thoughts?

You want them disturbed. The Ash that Devours has a single major advantage, and it's that others can use Vitae to bring you back almost instantly (though it'll be costly, at least 28 Vitae in most cases). If you don't have anyone to hasten your return, you should definitely go with Surgical Heart Removal every single time.

Or earlier the same night, as long as you have set up your storage method for the heart in advance.
Most would definitely prefer this method because you have much more control over the details of your resurrection, such as making sure you resurrect where you want instead of in enemy territory, which would be the case for most suicide missions. You also don't spend time as a vampiric ghost who diablerises multiple Kindred in order to resurrect. If that's ever tied to your character, they're definitely done for. There's a reason Ash that Devours is in the Antagonist chapter.

Then there's the fact that Surgical Heart Removal is a known procedure while Ash that Devours is a mystical and rare process that almost no Kindred has ever heard about other than a few "this location seems haunted after the slaughter of Acolytes/Sanctified that took place a while back". There's absolutely no guarantee that you'll even form an Ash that Devours even if you do know about them.

Ideas where to store a heart after its removal

A lot depends on how you got it removed.

are you in the ordo Dracul or just a friend of a Dragon, or have a multicovenant person in your covenant.

just going to add that if you have a friend that's a Dragon doing this, you will likely have to owe him something over it, something very big

And the multicovenant person same thing would apply to?

unless in either case they WANTED you to be able to perform a mission without fear.

Yeah, it might be the other way around. Carrying out a suicide mission for the Dragon and having them perform such a procedure on you where you'll be left completely defenseless for double crossing should very much earn you a favour. Especially since you won't get to enjoy the benefits of the procedure for your own purposes.
More likely the person carrying out the suicide mission is a brainwashed pawn, the procedure just making the pawn reuseable.
