W:tF Actual Play: The Eater of Names

    Hello forum!

I've just started running a new Forsaken chronicle, tentatively titled The Eater of Names, and I'll be using this thread for both info about the setting (Hong Kong) and for links to the podcasts of our sessions.

Proper content will follow soon - I'm just getting this thread created so that I can put a link up with the podcast!

Fair warning about the podcasts themselves: they are minimally edited. You will get the games as they happened - table chatter, background noises, interfering toddler and all. The first podcast will also be totally no-frills, not even intro/outro music or the like - I'm still trying to find some reasonably appropriate music that I can actually legally use

Anyway, for those of you wondering what a 2nd edition Forsaken game might look like (or indeed sound like), interested in how I handle things like spirits, the Shadow and the setting, or just plain curious about what we sound like - well, hang on a bit longer and the first podcast will be up and running, hopefully!

I'm curious, whatever happened to those 'Rat-Blooded' you mentioned?

So I am fully aware that is is over a year later, but I recently started re-listening through all the old episodes again. And I was hoping there would still be some unreleased episodes out there somewhere.

Is there any chance of the story getting a continuation in some form or another? I absolutely love to get some more games Storytold by my favorite CofD Writer.

Is Episode 20 coming out soon? We ended on a bit of a Cliffhanger and I'm excited to see what happens to the pack next.

I do need to update the wiki, tbh, in the aftermath of Macau.

    The Blast Numina.

'The spirit may wound opponents at a distance. Range is equal to 10 yards per dot of Power and the spirit does not suffer range penalties. If the activation roll succeeds, the Blast wounds as a +0L firearm. The spirit may increase the lethality of its Blast by paying Essence — every two Essence spent increases the “weapon” by +1L. The maximum weapon bonus is equal to the spirit’s Rank.'

We're discussing this in another thread and trying to decide if this power allows for the 'Defense vs Firearms' powers some people have. Some say that, because it doesn't say so, there is no way to avoid it beyond not being in range. But we're thinking because of 'the Blast wounds as a +0L firearm.' and how its damage bonus is called weapon bonus, it's treated similarly to a firearm.

Also, if it is indefensible, what rating fetish do you think would be appropriate to use a Numina?
I'd treat it as a firearm in terms of applicable defences, since that's the clear inference of it wounding as a firearm. If it wasn't for that, then I'd say Blast should allow Defence to be applied as normal against it as if it were any other non-firearm attack.

Finally caught up on a whole slew of session uploads! Here are sessions 15 to 19, as the pack return to Hong Kong in the Three Harmonies story!

Unfortunately, session 15 cut off only an hour into the recording for reasons we aren't entirely sure of

I'll ask the rest of the group if they're happy to have their character sheets posted up; if so, sure.

    Just finished today's session!

Sadly, for some reason the recording just... stopped after an hour, and I didn't notice til the end! I'll need to write up a summary post of stuff that was missed to go with the podcast when I put it up.

I've been busy lately, so I'm just to the point where they're heading to Macau.

Really fun to hear another game.
