  • Incidentally, this is one reason why I'd like a “time travelers” setting: it's easy to criticize Mercer when you're not in his shoes; but if you have the opportunity to do the sorts of things he can do and see just how messy it can get…

    • Oh hey random aside on the Onyx Path Twitch site there is a video with Travis Legge and Eddy Webb called Trinity Continuum Q&A with Eddy Webb that might be interesting for those here to watch. I would link it but I'm not at a location where I can access twich at the same time as I post this message.

Its actually quite interesting so far.

As a note I LOVE these things. To hear the developers, producers, writers talk about things. Discuss things. Reveal things. Its so fantastic.

It also causes the release of worry. Like "I am not sure about x" and then in these videos they talk about x, or even they talk about y but its close enoyguh, and all worry fades.

Basically, if its possible, more of these developer interviews would be awesome. Both from a mechanical perspective and a setting perspective.

Example, in the video Eddy Webb talks about how he asks Ian stuff and Ian is all like "yeah, but ..." I would LOVE to hear as much as possible as can be shared.

      • So I just realized the fact that as the requisites for a Mega-Attribute is the Attribute and Quantum equal to the Mega-Attribute. Which means you could have a character with Intellect 1 and Mega-Intellect 1 and Quantum 1. Basically speaking he is dumb but super intelligent at the same time. This is quite interesting to me. I wouldn't use it for a player character, but it is quite interesting.

Think of it as being a bit like the protagonist of Flowers for Algernon. They're intelligent, but they don't have experience in using that intellgence.

          • Maybe it was because I had just watched an episode of Legends of Tomorrow where they had to zip back and forth futilely attempting to keep something from happening in history, but I read the part about Max "allowing" Mal's experiment, and by extension the Aberrant War, being more about him resigning to a particular series of events. He also might not necessarily know this timeline will end up with the Aberrant war, but he knows he can't stop Mal from trying, so he is just letting it play out.

            • Congratulations for the Kickstarter's resounding success.

I am now looking forward to Adventure next year. It was always my favorite of the three.

              • And once in a while it’s because we choose to take a bit longer and do something right, like the meeting we had today with the TC:Aberrant team to go over the playtest feedback we got during the Kickstarter.
So this was posted on Monday in the weekly update. No real detailed info but I thought it was interesting.

I do kind of wonder how our feedback might have changed things. Hopefully they looked at the things we super complained about.

                • They listened for sure. But it was commented more than once that some of the things we complained were intentionally put there, and so are probably not changing.

My guesses on what will change is Super Science creation limits (the process is great, the quantum consuming in the way to expensive for the inventor). I know it’s hard to keep the balance, but you had no chance to build a Iron Man (with more than a few armors).

                  • Likewise, I don't expect that Flux will be going away; but I do think it's possible that it might be made easier to manage. Radical changes aren't happening; but minor adjustments may yet occur.

                    • Oh yeah, Flux is a core part of the setting and isn’t going anywhere, but the mechanics might be reworked a bit.

                      • For Flux, I would make a Nova Edge (not a Mega Edge) for a better flux bleeding. It may sound almost obligatory for many people here, but I think there is two kinds of Novas, as the Nihonjin experts discovered, the ones that don’t accumulate flux easily and the ones that does.

Another option is to make Transcendence gained by high quantum be a minimum value and not a additional value. So you can become monstrous by the eruption and still handle transcendence on high quantum.

I think the game is better thematically served by having in-game choices matter more than that. I’d work the system off Bonds with Baselines instead of “not using the cool powers you paid for” though. Those human connections are what anchors you and keep you human. Divorcing from the mortal society and treating Baselines as other leads to Transcendence.

True. Indeed it’s interesting to have a in game way to deal instead of putting the character in the fridge for a few weeks.

But, it’s a matter of how you see the Transcendence. There are 2 ways basically, the first is Transcendence is caused by flux and cause the feeling of not being human, the second is Transcendence is caused by the feeling of not being human and allow the grow of quantum.

Both are valid approaches, but the first imply the condition of transcendence is out of our control, except for controlling the quantum use (the way I see the original rules), and the other gives the character the need of mental balance to keep human, otherwise they will became monsters (the option shown on Four Color).
