  • GenCon Trinity Panel?

I realize its a little soon after GenCon to get actual transcripts or audio recordings - but was anyone at the panel who can let us know anything from the panel?

That would be of great interest to me too.

I revealed the great secrets of the Continuum, then shunted to an alternate timeline where I didn't.

Oh man, there was so much to take in that timeline. Geez! Neal would just not stop! Glad I bailed on that sucker.

Wha...? All we asked for was a recap.
I can't even prove this is cruel and unusual punishment unless i can prove alternate timelines exist and that Neal revealed secrets in one and then find a court that won't throw the case out on charges of absurdity...

It's not fair, I hate you both!

Damn it, Neal & Wolfgar, you've broken space-time.
All we wanted was a recap of the GenCon panel.

                      Ha!

I wished I'd taken some notes now, things are kind of a blur. They mostly just talked generally about some of the books that will be coming out. They didn't get into specifics of the new system or anything. They did say while the 3 games as a whole are called The Trinity Continuum, the game Trinity is reverting back to it's original title of Aeon. I thought that was pretty cool.

I wish now I'd asked some questions about the system though....

                        * The official name of "Sardonyx" is the Storypath System.
                        * If I have my way, the words "Aberrant War" will not appear in the Aberrant rulebook.
                        * I teased a secondary timeline, Anima, which has its own thread.

That's all the major stuff I can think of.

I still wish I'd ask a question about the system...not sure why I didn't. Too nervous I guess.

Okay, then Where will be advice to play Abberant in Aeon setting?

p.s. Sardonyx sounds better. From tease I do not remember any storypath.

Okay, apart from the story-path title, this is stuff i feel i've already gathered. I assume it was a kind of short panel, if you are willing to take questions over the forum, i'm certain we could tease out some further details. I probably would have asked so many that security might have been called to escort me out.
                              -blush-

I'm still getting used to calling the Trinity 2120 setting 'Aeon' again after so long - i expect to make some confusing gaffs along the way to acceptance. Context is going to be important, as a heads up. I do like that things are too big to really contain in a universe (TU), requiring redesignation as a continuum (TC). Now, if we can just do something about the words "Anima" and "Quantum"...

I like Storypath, Sardonyx is a cool name but it says nothing about the attached product, Storypath invokes the Storyteller system from the original game and the Pathfinder/Paizo 'update' on D&D 3.5. It sounds like a RPG rule set now and i'm pleased with that.

Aberrant War should only be allowed to appear in the 'quantum-wibbly' (am i doing this right?) sidebars about continuity and timelines in the Aberrant setting, i can entirely agree with that. There may be some level of foreboding lost, but i've had some minor trouble with players meta-gaming before. Opening up the ending is great news for the game table, but it cuts both ways by sacrificing the timeline of the original settings - which i found to be the most important element connecting the games outside of inspiration mechanics. I have to admit, losing a single congruous history for the 'quantum-wibbly' concerns me a bit, but only because i haven't seen the end result yet.

I have already addressed Anima elsewhere, but it bears repeating that i have some tonal concerns regarding the setting's similarity to Aeon based from the little we know. Otherwise, i am happy to admit i'm keen to see what the dev team comes up with to cannibalize/utilize as required.

In reply to Zorb42; i believe the Storypath rules from Aberrant and Aeon will simply be more robust, allowing easier cross-overs and there may be some more consciously placed story hooks for parties comprised of era-inappropriate or mixed inspiration members. I imagine anything more would be included in a follow up supplement - probably not anything too high priority either.
                              -shrug-
But, i will be reading between the lines for 2120 aberrant PC's myself (old habits) and i've heard nothing so far that directly contradicts anything i did in the past. This reboot may very well see us revisit the characters we had to abandon due to the rules experiencing a kind of BSoD around my table. All i will need to try that is the Aeon, Aberrant and Core books (i think, corrections are welcome) - which i'm excited for.

Thanks for the information, Gone and Ian. Now maybe the timeline flux caused by some posters can begin to stabilize...
